This man is the MVP of the entire novel and I will die on this hill. Let's talk about the dynamics here because the author is doing something really interesting with how everyone relates to Ye Qianqian. You've got the Ye family — parents and elder brother who have been systematically cruel to her for eight years, all while pretending to be a loving family. Then you've got Ye Qingyan, the so-called sister, who is genuinely evil. Like, she's not just mean, she's calculated. She deliberately drags Qianqian into her pleas, tries to position herself near Lu Jingchen, spreads rumors about Qianqian living with her fiancé. The scene where she says "we sisters have always respected our elder brother" while clearly manipulating everyone? Chilling. And then there's Lu Jingchen, who goes from being someone Qianqian was terrified of (she used to run away from him like he was going to eat her) to someone who looks at her with this intensity that says he sees everything. The shift in their dynamic is everything. He doesn't just protect her — he asks her opinion with his eyes. That's huge for a character who was previously so cold. And Bai Lang? He's the bridge. He's fierce to everyone else but clearly adores his "madam." The bullet chat is obsessed with him too — "I'd take a dozen assistants like Bai Lang." Honestly same. The relationship web here is so rich. Every glance, every withheld word, every moment of betrayal tells you more than pages of exposition.
I need to talk about Xing Yu because this guy is a whole mood and I am here for it. Let's be real—he's the type of man who notices everything. During military training he memorized every name, and now he notices that Wen Yao's shoe heel was broken that one day she disappeared. The man has a photographic memory for details about her, and he's clearly been carrying that around. But what's fascinating is how he expresses it. He doesn't ask 'do you miss me' or 'why did you leave.' He asks about her department. He pushes her chili sauce back toward her without being asked. He notices she eats in the cafeteria every day to save money. These are his love languages, and they're so painfully understated. Meanwhile Wen Yao is straight-up avoiding him at lunch like it's a survival tactic. The power imbalance is insane—she's terrified of him at work, and he's clearly still affected by her. And then there's Shen Cunshu, who actually brings flowers and seems genuinely sweet, which makes you wonder if he's the healthier option. But honestly? I'm not ready to write off Xing Yu. The way he crouches down to Wen Xin's level at the kindergarten, the fact that he remembered she liked ribs—this man shows love through actions, not words. It's either going to be the most romantic arc ever or the most frustrating one. Probably both.

Hope your character is not going to turn into a disappointment and really goes through growth like promised and gain comprehension and creativity increasing his cultivation through life and death battles or I don't mind revisiting this review again
