“The instant their skin touched, every pore on Lin Zhaoyang's body seemed to scream.” This line. This single line. It captures everything about how this story moves. It doesn't walk—it lunges. The pacing here is absolutely ferocious. You start with a drugged, trapped scenario, move through a revelation about keys and betrayal, then drop a massive backstory bomb about Lin Ni's previous life, and then immediately pivot to the next crisis—the missing key, the suspicious fiancé, the parents arriving. There is no downtime. No gentle transition. The author just keeps turning the screw. What I love most is how the chapter structure itself creates tension. Each section ends on a note that demands you keep reading. Chapter 4 ends with Lin Ni's scheme exposed but not resolved. Chapter 5 ends with Yang Wen frozen, caught between lying and confessing, and Zou Zhengting literally dragging him by the neck. The cliffhangers aren't cheap—they're earned. Every scene builds on the last, every revelation raises new questions. The backstory about Lin Ni's previous life is inserted at the perfect moment, right when we need to understand the stakes, and it's delivered in a burst of information that hits like a punch. Then we're back to the present, back to the missing key, back to the immediate danger. The story never lets you settle. And that's exactly why I couldn't stop reading.
Let's be real—the plot in these chapters is doing some serious double duty. On the surface, it looks like a family reconciliation story. Mo Fei brings her kids to meet her parents, everyone gets along, sweet dinner scene, parents give her money, she flies to another city. Very wholesome. Very misleading. Because underneath all that warmth, Mo Fei is clearly preparing for something massive. The parcels. The camping tents, shovels, power drills, folding beds, water filters, inflatable boats, months' worth of toilet paper and canned food. She's not going on a trip—she's stockpiling for an apocalypse or some kind of disaster scenario, and the text drops these details so casually like they're totally normal. The most interesting plot mechanic here is her "space." She transfers everything into this dimension-like storage and the packaging waste auto-sorts itself. That's a supernatural element introduced almost in passing, which tells me the author is building a world where this is just... part of the rules. No exposition dump, no "and this is how her space works" paragraph. Just: she does it, it works, move on. The Hei City trip ties into the larger plot thread about grain and agriculture. Black soil, the most fertile in the world, grain processing factories, farms—this is clearly setting up a survival storyline where food production will be critical. And Luo Chao's family owning grain factories and farms? That's not random worldbuilding. That's a plot hook being planted. What I love is how the author balances the intimate family scenes with this looming larger plot. The dinner scene feels warm and complete, but you keep reading and realize it's just one layer. Mo Fei isn't just reconciling with her family—she's using that reconciliation as cover to prepare for whatever's coming.
The banquet scene is absolutely gorgeous and I need to unpack it. First, the atmosphere: 'glasses clinking and elegant figures mingling everywhere' with 'soothing, elegant music' playing. The author paints this picture of high-society perfection, and then Shang Wan immediately undercuts it by asking the System to identify the most expensive wine like she's at a grocery store. The contrast between the opulent setting and her completely grounded, 'I'm just one of the masses' energy is comedy gold. But the visual centerpiece — and I mean this literally — is the champagne tower. Hundreds of crystal glasses, Shang Wan pushing it over, the liquid 'scattering like celestial blossoms toward Miss Dong.' The imagery is almost poetic in its chaos. And then the silence that follows. The crowd going quiet. Fu Jiayan stepping forward with that cold 'explain' energy. It reads like a movie scene and I can literally see it. The lighting description for Fu Chen also deserves mention — 'the lighting in the venue seemed to favor him, casting a soft glow over his features, tempering his usual cold and stern expression by three parts.' The author knows how to frame a entrance. This whole banquet feels like the calm before the storm, and every detail — from the hand-drawn invitation with gilded edges to the champagne splashing across Miss Dong's dress — is building toward something massive.
This chapter is a masterclass in tonal whiplash and I am here for it. You start with Fang Lingchu learning that her entire country is basically cannon fodder in some interdimensional romance novel, that her family would have been absolutely destroyed by the original plot — eldest sister sold to a brothel, second brother beheaded, mother dying of shock, father turning dark and slaughtering a city. That is HEAVY. Like, genuinely traumatic worldbuilding stuff. And then what does the narrative do? It pivots so hard I almost got whiplash myself. One moment we're discussing the complete annihilation of an entire family line, and the next it's like 'hey remember that antidote mission? let's go pluck some beards.' The System comes back with this absurd daily mission — pluck seven beards, put them in a sachet, give it to a lord — and suddenly the stakes are still life-or-death but the method is pure comedy. The pacing between the court assembly dragging on for two hours, the medicine arriving, the beard-plucking heist, and then BOOM — the beam about to fall on the Emperor — it all moves at this breathless clip. There's no dead air. Every scene pushes you forward. And that ending? She knocks the Emperor down to save him from a falling beam, and her first thought isn't 'am I okay' but 'do you think he'll put me in the harem now?' The chapter goes from apocalyptic family tragedy to rom-com daydream in three sentences flat. I couldn't look away.

Story is well written, and has quite a bit of future potential. Just remember this though, if you yourself, enjoy writing your stories, then that is the one thing that should matter the most more then anything else. Sometimes, it is not about any sort of money or payment, but should in fact, always be about enjoying sharing your work with your viewers and fans. And that, should always take priority, because if your fans and viewers enjoy reading your work, as well as potential future generations, then that is the one thing, that should matter more to you then anything else. For you see, people are more concerned in living in the here and now. While people me, we like to have a more, long game in mind. Now, don't take this as some sort of negative by any means, I am just saying, that if we want future generations to enjoy this world, then we have to be willing to protect what we love, in an effort to do our best to better our future.
All i wanna say is, it is a really well-made story—the way each chapter develops keeps things exciting, and the mix of action, adventure, and mystery is spot on. I just wanted to mention that the intro in the first chapter was a little hard to follow because of some complex wording, but other than that, the story has great potential. Keep up the amazing work!❤️
Wow. I am so glad I came across this book. Beautiful is not enough to describe it. Very well told love story and the narrative is so poetic. The characters are flawed that I am looking forward to their developments. There is smooth flow of the plot and world building. FL is stubborn but strong while the ML is vengeful and cold, with both of them in pain from their entanglements. I like there is a young son in the picture that can play a role in their healing. It’s very unfortunate both have wasted so many years away from each other. Highly recommend this to all romantics. Excellent read. To be honest, the best of the best here! Writing quality ?????Can’t wait for more updates and of course more work from this author. Thank you for sharing your talent ❤️ Sending gift and golden ticket your way. Hope you will get more inspired ??
