The beauty fainting, Lin Yuanfeng soiling himself, the eunuch wetting his own pants—these reactions are written with such physical comedy that they pop off the page. And then there's the Emperor's court scene, which is pure gold. The concubines wailing about their stolen jewelry while the Emperor is literally standing there in his underwear with nothing left in his palace? The dialogue captures the absurdity perfectly. "Your Majesty, all the treasures in my palace are gone, even my most beloved phoenix crown was not spared" versus the reality that the Emperor himself has been stripped bare. The Empress Dowager's line—"this matter is no trivial affair. It not only concerns the dignity of the imperial family but also the safety of the state"—is delivered with such grave authority that it almost works, right up until you remember she just lost a painting from her secret chamber. The author's voice throughout is sharp, witty, and never takes itself too seriously. It's the kind of narrative tone that makes you laugh out loud while also being invested in the plot.
Let me just lay out the stakes because they're NOT what you'd expect from a typical rebirth novel. On the surface, it's a love triangle. Gu Shaonan is choosing Chen Qinghe over Lin Sui. But that's the THIN surface layer. The real conflict is about POWER and AGENCY. Lin Sui's uncle offered her the ticket seller job — a position she could have used as a stepping stone. In the past life, she gave it up to focus on her family and Gu Shaonan, and ended up with nothing. This time, she's accepting it. But she's also secretly pulling strings to prevent Chen Bin from getting the order coordinator job — the same job that, in the past life, came through her uncle's connection. Every decision she makes is a deliberate reversal of her past life choices. Gu Shaonan's conflict is more internal. He suspects Lin Sui might be reborn too, but he's terrified of admitting it. If she IS reborn, then everything he thought he knew about her — about their relationship — is a lie. His confidence is already cracking, and we see it in how he forces smiles and deflects with dry laughter. The Chen Bin subplot raises the stakes even higher. If Lin Sui successfully blocks his job application, she's not just protecting her own future — she's actively dismantling the network of favors and connections that Gu Shaonan built. This is war, just not the kind with weapons. And the suspense? The author keeps it tight by never confirming whether either character is actually reborn. We get their internal thoughts, but we never get confirmation. Are they both reborn? Is one of them just paranoid? The ambiguity is what makes every interaction feel electric.

An absolutely fantastic novel in every sense of the word! The plot is exciting, and the writing style is so engaging that I couldn't stop reading it
Story is well written, and has quite a bit of future potential. Just remember this though, if you yourself, enjoy writing your stories, then that is the one thing that should matter the most more then anything else. Sometimes, it is not about any sort of money or payment, but should in fact, always be about enjoying sharing your work with your viewers and fans. And that, should always take priority, because if your fans and viewers enjoy reading your work, as well as potential future generations, then that is the one thing, that should matter more to you then anything else. For you see, people are more concerned in living in the here and now. While people me, we like to have a more, long game in mind. Now, don't take this as some sort of negative by any means, I am just saying, that if we want future generations to enjoy this world, then we have to be willing to protect what we love, in an effort to do our best to better our future.
