Okay so I need to talk about this plot twist because honestly it wrecked me. The whole setup with Pei Ji coughing up blood and then the family suddenly claiming "incompatible birth charts" is such a classic manipulation tactic, but the execution here is brutal because we KNOW it's a lie. Luo Zhen and Madam Cui orchestrated this whole thing — they took back the gifts two days ago, confined Luo Fu under the guise of "quiet reflection," and now they're using astrology as cover to switch the engagement to the eldest daughter. But the real plot masterstroke is Pei Ji's reaction. He literally goes to Luo Fu's place in the middle of the rain, confesses everything, and when she pushes him away with those words — "love is the most fleeting thing, it's like mist passing before the eyes" — he still can't bring himself to harm her. He steps back. He says he won't let rumors hurt her. And then he collapses from emotional and physical distress. The narrative arc here is devastating because Luo Fu is making the "rational" choice — entering the palace to protect her grandmother — but every rational decision is stripping her of everything else. The engagement is broken, Pei Ji is ruined, and she's about to be sent to the capital with no return ticket. And the final image of the palace envoy selecting her within minutes of her entering the hall? That's not a happy ending foreshadowing, that's a trap snapping shut.
I need to talk about Lu Yan because THIS MAN. A mute commander, 188cm, broad-shouldered, cold as ice — and yet the author gives him more presence than half the talkative characters in this book. Think about it: he never says a single word of dialogue, and yet he's the most commanding figure in every scene he's in. The moment that got me was in Chapter 2, when Su Wanqing grabs his sleeve and asks if he's going to divorce her. The text says: "His Adam's apple moved almost imperceptibly, and the calm in his eyes gradually gave way to a complex emotion." That's it. That's all the author gives us, and I was *gone*. This man is processing a ton internally but can only express it through micro-expressions and writing in his notebook. And his notebook! It's such a brilliant narrative device. Every time he writes something, it's blunt and direct — "If you don't want to continue, say it. I'll submit a report for divorce." No fluff, no emotional padding. But then later, when she grabs his sleeve and pretends to cry, he *notices* — the text specifically mentions his gaze settling on her sun-kissed skin, her small face, the way her eyes are red. He's observing her. Really seeing her. And when he nods and agrees to report his schedule, it's such a small gesture but it means everything. Their dynamic is still in its infancy, but the foundation is fascinating. She's performing affection (at least initially), and he's... what? Testing her? Accepting it? I need to know more.
I'm still processing the emotional complexity between Hu Shen and Xie Xixiao after reading these chapters. On the surface, it's a story about a captive and his captor, a political arrangement disguised as intimacy. But underneath all that, there's this incredibly raw emotional current that the author handles with such subtlety. Let me start with the moment where Hu Shen says 'Last night was my fault. I hurt you.' She's not just apologizing—she's acknowledging that she saw something in him that night that she didn't fully understand before. And Xie Xixiao's response—'Shut up'—isn't just anger. It's the response of a man who is terrified of what he felt and can't process it. Then there's the scene where he grips her wrist and she feels his feverish heat. The physical contact here is charged with so much—anger, frustration, but also something else that neither of them wants to name. And when Hu Lang arrives and Hu Shen makes him sound like 'a petulant cat or dog,' that's not just deflection. That's her trying to normalize the abnormal, to make something dangerous feel manageable. The most emotionally devastating moment for me, though, is Xie Xixiao's bargaining scene. He's offering to not resist in exchange for seeing his comrades. But underneath that transactional language, there's something else. He's choosing her—choosing to trust her, however reluctantly—over his pride. And she's choosing him—choosing to see him as more than an enemy—over her fear. The author never spells this out. It's all in the subtext, in the pauses, in what they don't say. And that's what makes it so powerful. I keep thinking about that line: 'If you don't resist, I'll find a way to take you to see them.' It's a promise. It's also the beginning of something neither of them expected.
Alright, author, you’ve got my attention. Now don’t break my heart I can already tell this novel is going to keep me up all night Every great story starts with a first chapter! Keep up the hard work
Story is well written, and has quite a bit of future potential. Just remember this though, if you yourself, enjoy writing your stories, then that is the one thing that should matter the most more then anything else. Sometimes, it is not about any sort of money or payment, but should in fact, always be about enjoying sharing your work with your viewers and fans. And that, should always take priority, because if your fans and viewers enjoy reading your work, as well as potential future generations, then that is the one thing, that should matter more to you then anything else. For you see, people are more concerned in living in the here and now. While people me, we like to have a more, long game in mind. Now, don't take this as some sort of negative by any means, I am just saying, that if we want future generations to enjoy this world, then we have to be willing to protect what we love, in an effort to do our best to better our future.
it's pretty good i am too lazy to write any thing more bye ..............................................................................................

Great novel, the premise is greatAs of now(chp 11)A few things to mention There are potential but they are not important as it seems it can be increased by training or evolving The grammar is not bad but there are a few spelling mistakes( it nothing to big)The novel is set in the past and from what I can gather it nether our world or the Pokémon world( it called Gaia it similar to Pokémon world but not the same I feel like)The mc is the 10th son of dukeIt seems like he is hiding his potential(they think he is average not bad) at the start which I do not like but at least he is not like those protagonist who get stepped on
it's a overall nice book,I would recommend it to everyone
It was good read although I didn't get what happened with demon lord after fight. But I guess this elf is somehow related to him. maybe incarnation of something.
