I need to talk about Zhang Zhaodi because WOW. This woman appears out of nowhere and completely derails my emotional stability. Let me explain. For eight years of Taotao's childhood, Zhang Zhaodi was basically her second mother — the text literally says her significance was 'on par with Guo Hongying's, perhaps even greater.' And then what? She just... disappears from Taotao's life? And now, a week after Taotao returns, Zhang Zhaodi comes looking for HER.主动的. The initiative. And the description of Zhang Zhaodi's reaction when Taotao grabs her arm is absolutely devastating: 'she froze on the spot.' This woman is dazed, confused, feeling this urge to draw close that she can't even explain to herself. She doesn't remember this child clearly, but her body remembers. Her heart remembers. That's the kind of writing that makes you put the book down and just stare at the wall for five minutes. But let's also talk about the Old Lady because this woman is an absolute LEGEND. 'I was part of the Niangzijun back in the day. Did you think I was like those people who cling to every penny they have?' She's throwing shoe soles at her son, threatening to split the household, demanding respect for her granddaughter — this is a woman who has zero patience for nonsense and everyone around her knows it. Xu Yongze's reaction of just smiling helplessly and saying 'alright, alright' tells me everything I need to know about their relationship. She's the only person who can leave him at a loss, right alongside Taotao. Two generations of unstoppable women. And the daughters-in-law! Feng Cuilian, who married in when Xu Yongqing was ten and grew up with Taotao — that bond feels genuinely deep. Zhu Hehua, who envied Guo Hongying for having a daughter and now feels even closer because her son Changping joined the military through Xu Yongqing's connections. These women aren't villains. The text explicitly says 'none of them harbored ill intentions.' They're just... complicated. Real. Human. The first, second, and third branches being 'much more genuine' because they grew up with the child — that's such a specific, honest observation about how family relationships actually work.
'Master, welcome to the Spirit Spring Space.' That's the first line the fox says and I was immediately sold. The voice is calm, authoritative, almost parental—which is fascinating given that Xueying just lost her parents. The fox fills a void she didn't know she had. What I love about their dialogue is the balance. The fox gives her information without spoon-feeding everything: 'The time is not yet right. You must uncover the mysteries yourself.' That's such a natural way for a mentor figure to speak—wise but not overbearing. And Xueying's responses are equally good: 'I will do everything I can to prepare.' Short, determined, no fluff. Her voice matches her personality perfectly. The salesperson dialogue in Chapter 3 is surprisingly well-done too. Each vehicle demo has distinct features explained naturally through conversation rather than info-dumping. 'This one has an advanced self-sustaining energy system—solar panels, wind turbines, plus a high-capacity battery pack.' It reads like a real sales pitch, which grounds the supernatural elements in something tangible. The author's narrative voice is clean and direct—no purple prose, no pretentious language. It's the kind of writing that gets out of the way and lets the story breathe. I appreciate that enormously.
Let me just say this—the pacing in these chapters is absolutely masterful and I have no idea how the author does it. You start with Shen Zhicheng in near-silence, alone in an attic, trying to fix a music box. It's slow. Intimate. Almost meditative. The prose lingers on details—the faded photograph, the stiff winding key, the glass globe casting moonlight. You're in a completely different emotional register here. Then—bam—cut to the police station, sunlight, noise, Old You and Lin Jiacong bickering, Pan Liqin breathing down everyone's neck. The energy shifts instantly but seamlessly. The investigation scenes move at a deliberate pace. You're given the pieces one by one: the false testimony about Zhang Fengying, the surveillance footage, the neighbor's account of an abusive father. Each revelation is small, almost mundane, but they accumulate. The author never rushes. Even when Fang Zhishan finally spots Liang Wei in the grainy footage, it doesn't feel like a cheap climax—it feels earned. Decades of frame-by-frame review paying off. Then the chase sequence. Li Heng following Zhang Huijing through Cheung Sha Wan, the tension building with every step, Shen Zhicheng's near-exposure, the whistle, the catcall cover. And then—the phone call. Ten minutes of dialogue that could have been a scene break but instead becomes the emotional peak of the entire chapter. The pacing slows right when it needs to, letting that conversation breathe, letting Li Heng's backstory echo in the background. And it ends on "a smile still lingered at the corners of her mouth." Not a cliffhanger. Not a revelation. Just that smile. And you're left sitting there wondering what it means.
this is actually solid like honestly with a banger of a first chapter and I'd like to see more world built background but ovrall the story is cooking
I gave the book 5 stars. Maybe more than it deserves. but I am human and have feelings so yes. my writing is the problem which Im working at
it has nice descriptive writings but the pacing slow.i hope it will be alright in the future... ......................................................................................keep up the good work
Before anyone make any reviews let me make it first.First off, the novel "Adventures of the Ghost Man" is completely Afro-Centric with touches of Other cultures. Most of the adventures of Sol IbnuRa is in the Realms beyond Earth. The began with Earth and will end with Earth. I love what I am writing, even though it is hard. One of my greatest challenges in writing is English language. Since I am not English, I am still struggling with structuring my story. But so far, I have been doing well and I am not stopping till I reach the end.I hope you'll read my fictional Novel and pick meanings in it. Your reviews are highly welcomed. I am open to criticism and corrections.I hope one day, my novel would become the People's sensation .Thank you and remain blessed.SK John.
Author has been cooking just wished the chaps dropped more frequently. Keep up the good work
you rather miss a Visa to the island of gold than to miss this !
Hey, I’m the writer. Overall, it’s good, solid plot, well-developed characters, and a world that makes sense. The pacing is deliberate, the tension is real, and the emotions hit when they need to. Writing quality? Sharp. Story? Engaging. If you’re looking for depth, you’ll find it. If not, that’s on you.
for now ima rate it 5 stars cause theres no romance and the concept is interesting, but if it messes up then sorry but ima have to lower that review later (i might add the reason for why).
Honestly its subpar writing....story had potential but it just wasnt developed well. The MC and his interactions seem forced...they dont feel natural. MC is too naive, too beta, too awkward and just not confident. I mean he has the most beautiful wife but he cant hold a conversation with other women easily. He keeps asking can I hug you, can i kiss you? and it feels too stupid when she has already shown him that its okay....I mean wife keeps helping him grow but he lacks ambition. You cant feel drive from him to grow etc. She tells him to read and gain knowledge but it didnt show him doing that...honestly story is not written well. Around chapter 75 I just couldnt anymore
