I need to process what just happened between Yan Qixuan and Yan Wuxin because my heart is actually hurting. This guy shows up, remembers his brother fondly, tries to connect with his full-blooded sister, and gets treated like he's invisible. Yan Wuxin's internal monologue is so restrained—'She couldn't bring herself to dislike Yan Qixuan'—but the way she gives him this cold, distant nod says everything. She's grateful but guarded, and you can feel the years of separation between them. Then Yan Qixuan asks about Third Uncle avoiding him, and Yan Wuxin's response is basically 'go home and figure it out yourself.' She's protecting him in her own way, or maybe she's just too overwhelmed to explain. The most heartbreaking moment is when Yan Qixuan tries to touch her after the fight and Helian Yuchen stops him. Yan Qixuan's hesitation—clenching his fists, watching her with growing concern—shows he's starting to realize something is deeply wrong with his sister. And Yan Wuxin kneeling in agony, tears streaming, unable to respond to Xiao Li calling for her? That's not just physical pain. Something is breaking inside her. The emotional weight of this scene is enormous because we've spent so long watching Yan Wuxin be strong, being the killer, being the god of death—and now we see her completely vulnerable. What happened to her? What's sealing her Shenshi? I need answers and I need them now.
Okay, I need to talk about this Civil Affairs Bureau scene because honestly it was the most satisfying plot turn in this entire batch. Wang Shihao thought he was being so clever—kidnapping Han Yue, bribing the clerk with a letter of introduction, trying to rush through the divorce while she had no documents. Classic antagonist overconfidence. But here's the thing: the author set this up perfectly. Every time Wang Shihao thought he had the upper hand, Han Yue was already three steps ahead. She sent her second son to call the police while pretending to be compliant. When the officer showed up, she flipped the script entirely—claiming they'd been married ten years with strong feelings, that she disagreed to the divorce. The way she used the man's own desperation against him was chef's kiss. And then the salary reveal? That was the perfect button on the whole scene. Wang Shihao's face when he found out Han Yue had already taken his paycheck—I could literally see him short-circuiting. The plot structure here is tight: setup (the kidnapping), escalation (bribing the clerk), reversal (police arrive, Han Yue takes control), and payoff (salary gone, door cut open). No loose ends, no filler. This is how you write a confrontation scene.
So. Chapter 19. Let me just — let me catch my breath. The author drops a completely self-contained rebirth story in the MIDDLE of the main narrative and I was NOT prepared for this. One minute I'm reading about Sheng Qianyu's wedding and marriage, the next I'm watching Zhao Xiaoyu's entire life unravel in what, what, eight thousand words? And it's somehow MORE complete than most full novels I've read. Here's what's actually impressive about the pacing: the chapter starts IN MEDIA RES with Zhao Xiaoyu already reborn and already making her moves. We don't get a long exposition dump about how she got reborn or what she remembers. We just drop into her timeline and watch her fail. It's ruthless. It's efficient. It's perfect. The structure mirrors the main story almost too perfectly. Zhao Xiaoyu tries to replicate the path that led to Sheng Qianyu's success — get close to important people, align with the right families, marry well. But she keeps making the same core mistake: she sees other people as tools instead of humans. Her ex-husband in the original timeline became rich because he was ambitious. In the rebirth timeline, she picks a sponger who spends all her money because she's looking for easy wins instead of real partnership. And the ending — oh the ending. She dies alone, her husband mocking her, and her final realization is that Sheng Qianyu wasn't just her rival, she was her OPPORTUNITY. "If you could have accepted Academician Sheng, with her noble character, what couldn't you have had?" Then Chapter 20 hits like a freight train. Sheng Qianyu opens her eyes in a new body. New world. New story. The pacing here is almost jarringly different — we get exposition about Duan Ziheng, the child star, the family bankruptcy, the engagement. It's slower, more methodical. After the emotional whiplash of Chapter 19, this chapter feels like the author is letting us breathe. But is it letting us breathe or is it setting us up? The Film Emperor wealthy fiancée setup feels like it could go in a dozen different directions. I'm equal parts relieved and anxious. Also can we talk about how the author handles the transition between timelines? No warning. No chapter title indicating a shift. Just — you're reading about Sheng Qianyu's wedding, now you're reading Zhao Xiaoyu's death. The structural audacity is insane.
Are you dead since you haven't uploaded for some time?
A captivating and thrilling novel with excellent description and world-building. The character backgrounds are well-developed, but the story would benefit from more detailed events.
Hi So I'm writing this review cause i loved your novel i didn't leave the chapter comment because I was listening your story because I was busy so I can't able to read it? so although you story is great but I got little confused in the start of the novel maybe you can make it more clear about the reborn phenomenon beside that this story is perfact atleast for me ?
Great start can't wait for more, but a quick tip try putting more emotions for parts like not understanding that grandpa died or why his dad hit him ,his parents death, his frustration at the killers lack of understanding and cruelty and the lack of sympathy from the onlookers... Tho I don't know if you were planning on making him a dunce because what I can grasp from these chapters it doesn't seem as tho he has any form of education probably because their poor but a 15 year old won't act like that. But otherwise, great work
Not really a fan of BL but i must say the novel has great potential, i especially love the title...so mysterious??
