The contrast between the two opening scenes is chef's kiss. You've got Si Yueyue in 2028, humming in a bubble bath, phone charging beside her, casually swiping through web novels like any modern person would. Then—splash—she's in a yellow-earth room with a calendar showing 1972, surrounded by women in cotton-padded clothes, midwife with calloused hands, the smell of sweat and blood and something she can't name. The sensory details are surprisingly vivid for how quickly the chapter moves. The six eggs Zhao Cuilan gives the midwife—originally two, then four more because twins. That small detail tells you everything about rural 1970s resourcefulness and generosity. A ten-cent coin as a tip. Brown sugar egg water as the ultimate postpartum luxury. These aren't just period decorations; they're the texture of a life that existed. I also appreciate how the author handles the family introductions. Instead of an info-dump, we get them organically through the delivery scene—Lei Yu commenting on how the twins look different from his nephew Qingyun, Lei Jun shooting him a look, the whole dynamic playing out while everyone's focused on the babies. The world feels lived-in because the author lets us overhear fragments rather than forcing exposition. It's like walking into a room where a conversation is already happening and figuring out the context as you go.
There's a quiet symbolism running through these chapters that I can't stop thinking about. Let me start with the wontons. Aunt Jin gets up early to make them fresh because she knows Wen Yunsheng loves them. This is the first time Wen Yunsheng has been back in four years, and the family's way of saying 'we missed you' is through food. Not words. Not apologies. Wontons. It's such a culturally specific gesture of love that it hits different. The warmth of that scene contrasts with everything else—Qin Yanchuan coming back only to pick up documents and leave, the cold elevator encounter, the rigged interview. The only people who treat her like she belongs are the ones who never stopped waiting for her. Then there's the Bentley. Qin Yanchuan's black Bentley driving away into the night while Wen Yunsheng watches from the kitchen window. He owns the car, he owns the house, he owns the company. But he doesn't own this moment. He can't make her look at him differently. The car is a symbol of everything he has that she can't have and doesn't want—wealth, status, the ability to simply appear and disappear at will. Meanwhile, Wen Yunsheng is taking the family car to her interview and then a taxi home. She's choosing to be ordinary. The most powerful symbol though is the line 'This is my home.' Qin Yanchuan says it with such indifference when Wen Yunsheng greets him on the stairs. But it's not just about the physical space. It's about belonging. She left four years ago. He stayed. He is the home. She is the one who came back as a guest in her own family's house, and he reminds her of that without saying the words. The house itself becomes a battlefield where the war between them is fought in glances and silences.
"I'll take good care of Grandma, Uncle, and Aunt. I'll make sure they can enjoy delicious food every day and live happily." I read this internal monologue and just... stopped. Because this is a woman who grew up essentially orphaned, who learned to cook alone, who had a father that abandoned her, and she's lying in bed after TWO DAYS in this new life making promises to people she just met. That's not naive—that's someone who has starved for warmth her entire life and is desperately trying to build something real before it's taken away. The fact that she cooks braised pork that's "even better than" her grandmother's and then gets praised like a queen by everyone at the table—Hu Yufen's eyes narrowing into happy crescents, Qin Ruofeng saying he'll never have to eat watery cafeteria porridge again, Shen Jianing declaring Qin Ruan in charge of all family dinners. This is found family at its most ache-inducing. And then—AND THEN—the grandmother brings up matchmaking on their second day together. Qin Ruan nearly CHOKES on her porridge. She's still processing transmigration and now they're scheduling her romantic future? The contrast between the warmth of the dinner table and the panic of an arranged blind date is brutal comedy. But underneath it, I could feel her genuine fear—not of marriage itself, but of losing the fragile peace she's just found. What about the man from her first night? Did he ever look for her? The romantic tension is simmering while the family warmth is boiling, and I am emotionally compromised.
It was a fantastic start that immediately captured my attention, pulling me in with its intriguing premise and engaging writing. The story shows great potential, with the ability to reach even greater heights as it progresses. The novel itself is captivating and well-crafted, and I believe it has all the right elements to become something truly remarkable. I’d highly recommend giving it a try to anyone looking for a compelling read, it's definitely worth exploring.
From the very first chapter, this novel hooks you in with its suspence and compelling character . Even with few chapters available, the story has already laid a strong foundation. One of the book’s strongest points is its pacing. The author masterfully balances action, character development, and intrigue, making each chapter feel meaningful and engaging. The protagonist is particularly well-written—flawed yet likable, with a depth that makes you invested in their journey. The writing style is another highlight. Whether it’s vivid descriptions or sharp dialogue, the prose flows naturally, making it easy to lose track of time while reading. There are already hints of deeper themes and mysteries, leaving readers theorizing about what’s to come.Of course, with only few released, it’s hard to judge the full scope of the story. But if these opening chapters are any indication, this novel has the potential to become something truly special. Whether you're a longtime fan of the genre or new to it, this book is absolutely worth keeping an eye on.Final Thoughts:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) – A gripping start with strong characters, engaging writing, and plenty of potential. Can't wait for more!
the review is based on authors sense of humour, very good cover, and author who is high on dr-ahem adrenaline while writing. I hope to see the fast paced action in this one, but also hope author slow down occassionally, so that mc can catch his breath. but again, he is owner and he can decide.
author, will you start uploading Lk, and astral (novels) again or have you dropped them and started a new one again.?
The story pulls you in right from the start, with exciting twists and a main character who keeps you hooked. The world-building is vivid, and the emotions feel real, making it hard to put down. It’s definitely a fun and thrilling read!
The first ever apocalypse story by Fleeting Dawn! ?I only read 13 chapters but, it's already entertaining. The FL was very quick-thinking when facing the dangers that often came so suddenly. She also made use of her water ability and space well. There are some mysteries about FL's abilities. Her water ability was already powerful compared to her first life, also her space was so interesting and helpful unlike the usual warehouse-type space in this story. The author's writing is excellent. She portrayed the battle/action scenes well, also including the emotional ones in FL and the other characters. Lol I'm so glad when one of the supporting characters called out the green tea bich. That woman also didn't have the halo that made her being unconditionally loved/cared for by the others.I hope FL could avenge her previous life's death by tormenting the green tea bich slowly. Go go go!
So, the story is really good, like really good, it's not your 'classic' reincarnation story where the mc just gets cheats out of nowhere and has insane plot armor with super luck, also, just by not having a f*ucking HAREM, this story is already better than most isekais out there, let's summarize this shall we ? No grammar errors and easy to read story. ✔️5⭐Fully original isekai for once ✔️5⭐(story development)Regular updates ✔️ 5⭐The world is a classic fantasy world of swords and magic from what I read. 4⭐Sadly I dropped this story because I didn't like the mc, don't misunderstand me though, the mc has a really well built personnality, it's just that I couldn't recognise myself in the mc because we just don't have the same personnality, we are incompatible so I won't continue a story that I am not able to enjoy (it's as if you try to play mobile games on a pc, it just isn't as enjoyable on emulator as the real thing because the apps aren't made for pc use)So that's why I gave 3 ⭐ to character design but if I were to rate it objectively and not based on my tastes then it would be a 5⭐ immediatly just for the fact that the mc isn't either full white or full black like a goody two shoes/hero/good samaritan or pure evil/brainless/revenge driven/or people who want to prove they aren't trash(like most CN mcs). That makes it 4.4 ⭐ rated on my tastes and 4.6⭐ if not.
The world building is top notch. I LOVE IT The story also has a perfect pace but could you maybe use simpler grammar to make it more reader friendly
