Can we just take a moment to appreciate how distinct every character's voice is in this chapter? Nanny Jin opens with: 'She can forget about taking control of Yilan Courtyard's household affairs.' That's it. That's the whole vibe. She doesn't even need to say more because the arrogance is baked into every word. And then later when she's grinning and saying 'Just wait and see, Nanny' — well wait, that's Xiangxue talking. But you can feel Nanny Jin's influence in every sentence. Jiang Lingyuan's dialogue is fascinating because she barely speaks at all. When she does, it's short and decisive: 'Leave the shops operating as usual.' 'Proceed according to these plans.' 'Let people gossip all they want.' She doesn't waste words. Her silence IS her voice. Lu Yun's dialogue is interesting because he's mostly internal monologue. 'Did Jiang Lingyuan make these herself?' That question tells us everything about a man who has never really looked at his wife before. And the Eldest Young Madam complaining to Nanny Yang — 'My mother-in-law really is…' — the unfinished sentence is so perfectly realistic. Who actually finishes that thought when you're venting to your maid? The author's narrative voice is also worth noting. It's detached enough to feel objective but warm enough to make us care. There's a certain dry humor in lines like 'what kind of absurdity was that?' when describing the mother-in-law supporting a servant against her own daughter-in-law.
There's this one line that keeps echoing in my head: "The original owner saw this child as her greatest weakness. But to me... This baby is my bottom line." That's the entire thematic thesis of this book right there. The child represents everything the original Shen Qinghuan was terrified of — vulnerability, exposure, something to lose. But our transmigrated protagonist flips it completely. The baby isn't a weakness; it's the line in the sand. It's the reason she fights. It's the symbol of what she's protecting and what she's becoming. And think about the poison. The medicine Old Woman Wang brings isn't just a plot device — it's symbolic of the systematic erasure of the legitimate daughter. The stepmother and her daughter didn't just want her dead; they wanted her suffering to be slow, methodical, and deniable. The poison represents how patriarchal systems destroy women who don't fit their narrative. Shen Cong'an didn't even hear her side. He chose convenience over his own blood. That's not just cruelty; that's institutional betrayal. Then there's the spatial dimension itself. A spring that purifies toxins, soil that grows food in a day, a warehouse that stores anything. This is basically a womb metaphor — a self-contained world where life can flourish under her control. She's literally carrying a new world inside her, both biologically and spiritually. The red panda that appears at the end, munching on biscuit crumbs with those sly little fox eyes? I'm betting that creature is going to be significant. Something small and seemingly harmless that turns out to be anything but. The whole setup is about reclaiming agency. The original owner died because she had no power. Our girl died in her old life from a sandstorm while taking down three men — she was powerful then, powerless now, and she's going to rebuild that power from scratch. The baby is both her anchor and her weapon.
20 chapters in, and the story itself hasn't even actually started yet. Not to mention the MC is like a broken record that keeps on repeating the same things over and over and over again
I quite enjoyed it and am looking forward to the sequel, which I hope will be even more captivating and filled with unexpected twists. It left me curious about what will happen next and how the story will evolve.
It's nice to see authors trying something different with inhuman MCs. Usually, the story starts with the protagonist dying and Reincarnating as some monster that needs to start leveling up in a jungle, but this one charts its own path.Liam is an insect-type protagonist and instead of us seeing him strive for survival in a wilderness, we start the story with him and his family and how their relationship works.I commend the author for going into detail about how Liam's family are quite devoted to his unusual needs. the challenges in raising him are perfectly expressed and for me that makes it easy to both sympathise with him and get attached to his family.I like the wholesome moments the story expels, though some of them seem to be leading to something ominous. In any case, if some tragedy were to happen... I'd definitely feel it.Great piece author!
A great book.. Looking forward to more from this author
Another shameless author here, giving my own book 5 stars—because, well, it's a great book! Just read it and see for yourself. I'll answer any questions as long as they don't contain spoilers for future events. Thanks for reading
A quality work from the author.......it was a good read and perfect to pass time. The plot and pacing is slow though it was hooking. Plot more and write more! we will wait for more updates......
This is my first novel I hope u guys can enjoy while reading. I believe together we will make something huge, thanks for support.
The writing quality is good on most parts, and the story develops at a speed one can understand. The characters to me all evil...just were did the kind people go? Even those named kind, are doing something bad in the background. Although, the Mc develops gradually, we still have to see more about the side characters.
It's been sometime since I opened this app , as I was reading from epub books , I wanted to read something refreshing and new , I found this book a bit back , but it had only 5 6 chapters so didn't read it much , now I gave this book my 1 hour and it was good , the author's new and trying to improve his writing and book , it's evident . This book really has some untapped potential, hope the author does justice to his book and I can read it fully . ps:- a really long and lame review but I tried doing justice to my thoughts .
Wow! I love the mc, Draven and he seems to love women ? . He has strength and I can't wait to see how he will save the Verdants. Keep the good work up author.
