Okay, I need to talk about Shen Qingci because WOW. That woman is not playing around. Let me set the scene: Lin Shanwan has been orchestrating this whole thing, getting Xi Xiaoshan to pinch Xi Xingye's leg, then sending the kid to spill wine on Shen Qingci as some kind of twisted welcome ceremony. And what does Shen Qingci do? She doesn't cry, she doesn't back down—she grabs the kid by the collar and SLAPS him twice. Twice! The boy flew half a meter across the table. Half a meter! And then she proceeds to lay out the entire conspiracy in one speech, pointing out that Lin Shanwan has been fanning flames the whole time. The most chilling part? She says to Xi Zhenghao: "Because of you, being alive is no different from being dead." That's not just a comeback, that's a surgical strike at the father-son relationship. And then the car ride—Xi Xingye is sitting there trembling with that box of his mother's belongings, and Shen Qingci actually apologizes for meddling. And his response? He LAUGHS. He calls her awesome. He claps. The contrast with how Song Qi treated her is so stark it hurts. Song Qi said he hated when she was impulsive and overbearing, looked at her with disappointment. Xi Xingye? He sees her standing up for him and thinks she's the coolest person alive. This fake marriage thing is already showing cracks in the armor, and I'm here for it.
Let me just say this: the pacing in these chapters is absolutely ruthless and I am here for it. The story opens with the Empress Dowager's perspective — cold, calculating, already three steps ahead. She's investigating, planning, covering her bases. It's a slow burn of political maneuvering that establishes the stakes without a single action scene. Then we cut to the morning after, and suddenly we're in intimate territory with the emperor and Zhou Mingyi. The shift is jarring in the best way — one moment you're reading palace intrigue, the next you're reading something that feels almost like a romance novel, except everything is wrong. And then — BAM — Zhou Mingchong's starvation arc. The author doesn't give us a full chapter of his suffering. No, she compresses four days of torture into a handful of paragraphs and moves on. "He had already gone hungry for four full days. Fortunately, there was a well in the rear courtyard." That's it. That's all we get. Four days of agony, summarized in two sentences, and then we're back to the main plot. This is smart pacing. The author knows that if she dwelled too long on the brother's suffering, it would tip the story into melodrama. Instead, she gives us just enough to understand the stakes — this is a girl who will do ANYTHING for her brother — and then moves forward. The hunger is a motivator, not a spectacle. The chapter transitions are also doing heavy lifting. We go from the Empress Dowager's scheming → the morning after → Zhou Mingyi's calculated performance → Zhou Mingchong's release → the family reunion. Each scene builds on the last, and each one reveals a new layer of the web everyone's trapped in. But I do have one complaint: the section about the emperor's past and his fertility issues feels slightly disconnected from the immediate scene. It's important context — it explains why he's so infatuated (he's rarely been satisfied, he's desperate for an heir) — but it comes at a moment when the emotional momentum is building between him and Zhou Mingyi. I wanted to keep reading their interaction, and instead we get an info-dump about his bedchamber history. It's well-written, don't get me wrong, but it slows the pulse just a little. Overall though? The author knows how to keep you turning pages. The cliffhanger structure works — each scene ends with a revelation or a question that pulls you into the next one. Zhou Mingyi's true nature? Still hidden. Princess Zhaoyang's reaction when she finds out? Unwritten. The Empress Dowager's next move? We don't know. And I need to know.
I just read the first five chapters and it's damn good.....can't wait to see how it goesgood job as always ? ?
This is a fantastic story, and is very original. The characters are all given a lot of depth and you can understand why people did what they did. Also, this story does not focus solely on the main character's perspective. Finally, the brother of the main character seems more op than the main character (so far).
Made me tear up with how amazing the storytelling is, it’s Angelical and resonates deeply within my soul. I don’t understand how someone could make a story this good

Very interesting premise of a story! I like how the protagonist struggles with being reborn and even says it. It's not something you typically see in stories, so it stood out.

Before anyone make any reviews let me make it first.First off, the novel "Adventures of the Ghost Man" is completely Afro-Centric with touches of Other cultures. Most of the adventures of Sol IbnuRa is in the Realms beyond Earth. The began with Earth and will end with Earth. I love what I am writing, even though it is hard. One of my greatest challenges in writing is English language. Since I am not English, I am still struggling with structuring my story. But so far, I have been doing well and I am not stopping till I reach the end.I hope you'll read my fictional Novel and pick meanings in it. Your reviews are highly welcomed. I am open to criticism and corrections.I hope one day, my novel would become the People's sensation .Thank you and remain blessed.SK John.
So it’s obviously me writing my own review, but I just wanted to talk about the stuff I wrote a bit in a place that wasn’t just the end of chapter comments. I am writing this, because I love reading fantasy manga and light novels. I create video games as a hobby, and as a part of my hobby became my job, I guess I needed something else, and this is just a way that I can try and be creative and learn something new. I gave it 5 stars because I am trying my best, and honestly I don’t cringe when I read my own chapters (totally thought I would, but I actually like my characters) if you have any feedback or suggestions, please leave comments on the chapters to help me learn more about what is actually good writing, and what is just something really lame, anyway… hope you enjoy it!
I feel like I've discovered Arkenstone, I like it a lot, I hope it continues. When the power stone opens, I will support it immediately. I love a history novel that begins on an island or in an isolated place. I think I'm very lucky today.
