Let me just say this: the dialogue in this novel is a weapon. Every conversation between Tao Wanxing and Meng Chu is a battle where the real war is happening underneath the surface. Take this exchange: 'Tao Wanxing, are you planning to keep calling me Governor Meng forever?' 'What should I call you then?' Husband? What right did she have? This is the kind of dialogue that makes you want to shake the characters. They're both saying exactly what they mean and nothing at all. Meng Chu's lines are always short, clipped, commanding. 'Come here.' 'Why aren't you eating?' 'Don't like them? Or don't want to come in?' He barely uses more than three words at a time, but each one carries the weight of someone who's used to being obeyed. And Tao Wanxing—her dialogue is even more restrained. She barely speaks above a whisper. 'Mm.' 'Okay, alright, I understand.' 'Who would dare disobey Governor Meng's orders?' The subtext is where the actual conversation lives. Gao Ming is the only character who speaks with any warmth, and even he's carefully measured. The narrative voice itself is interesting too—it stays close to Tao Wanxing's perspective, which means we get her internal monologue in these raw, unfiltered bursts that contrast sharply with her external silence. The author's voice shapes the reading experience by making us complicit in her suffering. We know everything she's feeling, and we're powerless to tell her to just say something.
Okay, let me just say this: the recycling station scene is the single funniest and most pivotal moment in this entire chapter. Chen Qing goes out at night, pays fifty cents, searches for two hours, finds literally nothing of value, and then gets followed by a man in a hat. She immediately assumes he's an enemy spy—because, you know, 1970s China, paranoia is basically a survival skill—and she attacks him. What happens next? She ends up on the ground, pulling his pants down, seeing... things, and then yanking off his mask to discover it's HE YUAN. The man whose manuscripts she accidentally grabbed. The man she's been weirdly obsessed with since they first met. The man who is now absolutely mortified. This is such a brilliant plot device because it does three things at once: it creates genuine comedic gold, it forces these two characters into an awkward entanglement that will definitely come back to haunt them, and it sets up the evening party conflict where Chen Qing is genuinely worried he'll expose her. She literally tosses and turns all night, clutching those tower crane manuscripts like a lifeline. The plot is feeding her a problem and then handing her the only possible solution on a silver platter. I love it.
it's good but the story is advancing too fast..it should be slow and fast at a time in my opinion.
This story stands out from typical werewolf or betrayal narratives where someone is cast out. Instead, it beautifully explores love, choices, and their consequences. The narration is compelling, and I can see great potential in this story. I look forward to reading more chapters!
At first, I didn’t have super high expectations since Oyo is a newer author. I started it with the intent to support a friend, but he completely surprised me. His writing feels fresh and well thought out, with great descriptions and a creative use of vocabulary. After reading ahead, I wanted to leave a review and recommend this to others because I’m really excited to see where he takes the story. Definitely worth checking out!
Yes, this is a bot review so automatic 5 star…. I’m a Doraemon, a robot cat so what did you expect?
I have read all the ch out so far. It is a fun read, and I enjoyed it other than the grammar that can be improved. There is not much to say, but I will be looking forward to the next ch good job Author keep up the good work and finish this book, anyway keep this story going

can anyone suggest similar plot novels???
Good Novel with great potential.Nice System.
So the writing quality is decent. Though lack of proper punctuation does make it confusing sometimes. Overall it’s readable and doesn’t feel like a translation. The story is pretty good. You get fairly invested in the story. I’d say the only real issue is the only character you get invested into is the mom in the beginning. The MC is quite bland. Doesn’t feel very human. Sophie the system girlfriend is just the MC worshipping type. Which once again anyone who’s had a girlfriend/ wife understands that’s a pretty unrealistic quality. Even when someone loved you the whole worship/ none of their own thoughts outside how great the MC is, is a bit of a character fault.I’d say there are two more faults that caused me to not go further with the story, and these might be deal breakers for other readers as well. Unfortunately these tend to be heavily overused on WN:1.) very redundant writing. I think this comes from more inexperienced writers trying to hit word counts in their chapters. However there are a lot of “filler” paragraphs in the chapters. Such as saying the same thing multiple times in a different way. As well as reiterating the same thing, or re-explaining things multiple times. Unfortunately the writing is not very concise. Even in the first 30 chapters I found myself skimming over multiple paragraphs as a result.2.) possibly the most overused device on webnovel and something that I personally detest as a reader. However, different people like different things. The “leaving the reader in suspense trope”. Prime example is chapter 26. MC gets a gacha spin, and the writer really draws out the scene. We’re talking half a chapter to just spinning a roulette wheel; mc and Sophie’s emotions, fear, etc… Just as the wheel stops, time skips and the reader doesn’t know what the wheel landed on. As a reader that’s just annoying. Don’t have me read 8000 words on a roulette spin to skip what it is. As I said maybe some people enjoy this device; however, I personally detest it. As a reader I prefer experiencing the world as the characters do. Unfortunately this novel has had quite a few instances of storyline incongruity. Where time skips forward, then a chapter later we find out what happened during the mini skip. Anyway the story isnt bad, and for more patient readers it may be a masterpiece. As for me personally some of the writing elements are not very attractive. As a result i wouldnt read, nor would i suggest it.
love love this book. highly recommend it.
