'Yao Qingqing used to have a good temper—never hitting back, never arguing. Now her temper has changed.' This line hit me like a truck. The Shen Xiaomei moment where Yao Qingqing grabs her fingers and bends them back—this is the same woman who was previously too weak to even defend herself. The transformation is insane and I'm here for it. But what's really interesting is how she treats the people around her. With Tian Huaihua, she's gentle—patting her back, suggesting solutions, even thinking ahead about splitting the household. With Grandma Yao, there's this unspoken understanding. They don't need to explain everything. And then An Ruoxi—this quiet, steady presence who lends her money in the dark and then helps her at the grain distribution without being asked. The dynamic between Yao Qingqing and An Ruoxi is so understated but it's building something real. Not romantic necessarily, but this deep trust that comes from shared hardship. Meanwhile, the Shen family is this grotesque unit—Mother Shen and Shen Xiaomei moving as one predatory organism, and Shen Shupei just... absent in all of this. His betrayal with Yao Qian is the ghost haunting every scene.
There's a scene in here that I keep coming back to, and it's not the arguments or the confrontations—it's Tao Nanfeng at the drafting board. Let me paint it for you: Engineer Yang offers his desk, which is a professional drafting table with an adjustable-tilt tabletop, a high-legged stool, grid paper taped down, a T-square and set squares laid out neatly. And Tao Nanfeng—she rolls up her sleeves, hooks the T-square against the edge, slides it smoothly, and draws a crisp horizontal line. The text says her entire demeanor transformed. Her shoulders relaxed, her forearm lifted slightly, her breathing steadied. Her eyes moved in perfect sync with her hand, her focus absolute. And everyone held their breath, afraid the mere sound of their breathing would blow the blueprints away or break her concentration. I got CHILLS reading that. It's such a specific, sensory moment. You can SEE it. The contrast between the drab, gray concrete floor of the office and this sudden burst of professional precision is gorgeous. And the worldbuilding detail about the mountain farm—at 1,500 meters elevation, winter is coming, the thatched huts are drafty and leaky, the road down the mountain collapsed. All of this creates a real sense of place and urgency. This isn't just any setting—it's a harsh, isolated environment where survival depends on ingenuity. The scene where the girls are crowded around the blueprint, heads bunched together like chickens pecking at grain, is also incredibly vivid. It's warm and chaotic and alive.
I keep coming back to the meal scene. Four flatbreads. That's it. That's the entire emotional arc of this chapter. Su He sits down, hungry for the first time in who-knows-how-long, and she just... eats. No pretense. No 'I'm not hungry.' No delicate nibbling. She devours four pieces of black flour bread that would make a capital-dweller gag, and she does it with the calm of someone who has eaten Moldy Ration Brick #47 in the apocalypse and lived to tell about it. But here's what got me—the guilt. After she finishes, she looks at the empty bowls and feels a twinge. 'Stepping through the door only to grab other people's rations really wasn't great.' She's been through hell, she's survived a collapse of civilization, and her first thought isn't 'I deserve this' but 'I took from people who have less than me.' That's the moment I was sold on this character. She's not a victim. She's not even really a protagonist in the traditional sense—she's someone who's already been through the end of the world and decided, quietly, that she's done suffering. 'This wasn't the apocalypse anymore. This world had supplies; the resources were just limited.' And then the warmth at her fingertips. That's when the emotional tone shifts from 'surviving' to 'thriving.' She's not just going to eat—she's going to grow. She's going to build. The hunger that drove her through the apocalypse is now redirected into something creative, something hopeful. Xiao Zheng watching her eat is also quietly devastating in its own way. He's used to people looking at him with fear or calculation. Here's this woman who just ate five flatbreads in silence, not a word, not a complaint, and he's genuinely puzzled. 'Wasn't she a first-class maid from a Minister's estate?' The gap between his expectation and reality is where the tension lives. And Wang Guixiang's old clothes—'Just take this as your bridal attire.' That's not just generosity. That's a mother claiming someone as hers. In a world where everything is scarce, she gives away something she kept for years. That's emotional weight. The CP energy here is... not romantic yet. It's something quieter. Mutual assessment. Mutual survival. Two people who've been through hell recognizing something in each other. I'm here for it.
"This looks really promising! Excited to see where the story goes!""New novel, new journey! Wishing the author success!""Great start! Looking forward to more chapters!"
the review is based on authors sense of humour, very good cover, and author who is high on dr-ahem adrenaline while writing. I hope to see the fast paced action in this one, but also hope author slow down occassionally, so that mc can catch his breath. but again, he is owner and he can decide.
skibidi . . .

The story revolves around Professor Hank, who's searching for his missing loved one, Vanya. He's shocked to discover that Vanya's soul may be tied to a virgin named Jane, which contradicts the rules of Vanya's kind. Professor Hank is torn between his loyalty to Vanya and his growing feelings for Jane, who's now in danger. The narrative is rich in emotional tension, with a complex mythology and moral dilemmas.Enjoying it so far.
Alright story, can be enjoyable when the pace picks up. Beware, I had to drop it due to NTR themes in one of the recent chapters. So you should stay clear if you don't like that type of stuff.
