The pacing in this chapter is absolutely relentless. We go from Jiang Rao's arrival to family separation negotiations to physical confrontation in what the narrative itself tells us is 'less than an hour.' That's extraordinary compression. The author structures this like a series of escalating blows. First the mother-in-law's fake sweetness about 'treating you like my own daughter.' Then the immediate pivot to 'hand over your money.' When that fails, the father-in-law joins the attack. When Lu Shen defends his wife, they threaten to starve her. When she agrees to cook separately, they refuse to provide ingredients. Each beat raises the temperature. What's remarkable is how the author uses silence and response patterns to control rhythm. Jiang Rao's repeated non-response to Zhang Fengxia's initial kindness creates tension - we're waiting for the other shoe to drop. When she finally speaks, it's like a door opening after pressure has built. The scene transitions are equally tight. We move from the confrontation in the main room to the private moment with Tiewazi almost seamlessly. The younger brother's entrance serves multiple purposes: it shows Zhang Fengxia's favoritism, it gives us comic relief, and it sets up the chapter's violent climax. The ending is perfectly timed - just when we think the conflict has resolved with the 50/50 work points agreement, Jiang Rao grabs Tiewazi's ear. The chapter doesn't fade out on a diplomatic note; it ends on a physical action that reminds us this family is still at war.
This first chapter of has grabbed my attention from the very first page. The vibrant descriptions of the Dragons Festival and the diverse races of Romero create a rich and immersive world that I'm already eager to explore further. The sudden, violent eruption of the Voidrifts is a brilliant way to shatter the initial peace and introduce the central conflict. Jorn's confusion and disorientation as he grapples with his new reality are palpable, making him an instantly relatable character. The mystery surrounding his reincarnation and the nature of his chaotic power, the "chaos flame," is incredibly compelling. The author does a great job of balancing world-building with action, keeping the reader engaged without overwhelming them with information. The encounter with the Elves, though brief, adds a layer of complexity and hints at the dangers lurking beneath the surface of this seemingly peaceful world. The pacing is excellent, with the tension steadily building towards the explosive climax where Jorn unleashes his power. The writing style is engaging and evocative, painting a vivid picture of Romero and its inhabitants. The chapter ends on a fantastic cliffhanger, leaving me desperate to know what happens next. I'm particularly interested in seeing how Jorn will learn to control his unpredictable power and how he will navigate the treacherous political landscape of Romero while facing the threat of the ever-expanding Voidrifts. I'm definitely hooked and can't wait to read more!
Impressive story, I love the fact that the systems and terminologies are so different and unique allowing you to immerse fully in a brand new world.

Why were the family members ill treating Elara it's really unfair none it was her fault, I like that she found were she belonged adapted so quickly and started training again, the writer is doing a good job so far keep it up
Not gonna lie. The synopsis grabbed my full attention the moment I read it. as for the first chapters, they are as good as the synopsis was, so fascinating. keep up the good work, author.
Interesting read so far. Highly recommended. I was hooked from the first chapter. Kudos
I love the way you write their is something I like about the way you build up your story I never expect I will see such a unique novel about west Africa on webnovel.
now I gave it a try listening to the chapters to where you can check it out it's extremely long winded it's generic storyline that you see in a lot of other stories I'm not saying don't check it out you may like it but I don't see why we have whole chapters on what everybody in the area is thinking about this and that it's ridiculous considering we're having to pay for these chapters on these books you figure they'd have a little more to do with this actual storyline
novel is awesome. Especially MC. She is one of my favourite. Cold blooded and strong. very brainy
Do not come into this story expecting it be realistic as the author claims. Time has no meaning in this story. Within a single year the mc has managed to bring about the Industrial Revolution. Even with memories from his past life, this is impossible. It would take a decade at least. However, within a single year the mc has introduced, steam engines, trains, bank, stocks and stock market, late 19th/early 20th century firearms and artillery and machine guns, steel ships. All of these things have been not just introduced but refined and perfected within a single year. Just getting the steam engine built properly and his factories installed with them should have taken a year to accomplish. This is a story where you turn off your brain while reading. Do not expect any kind of realistic kingdom building. There are alt history novels on this sight that are far more realistic. However, this story is still slightly enjoyable. Not much is known about the world, and the characters don’t really have any unique personalities, but it’s still early on. My biggest advice to the author: remove your own review where you say this story is a more realistic kingdom builder then other stories on this site. It most definitely is not. Good luck with your novel.
Impressive!! I think so far Nike and Jimi are doing well, I guess. The writer should keep it going though and I love the fact that it is based in Lagos. Imagine I get to meet them one day very very soon. Like… keep it moving Mireva!!
