I need to discuss the dialogue in this text because the author has clearly put thought into giving each character a distinct voice, and it shows. Lu Zheng's dialogue is sparse but loaded. He doesn't say much, but when he does, it lands. 'From now on, this is our home.' 'We are husband and wife. You are allowed to take advantage of me.' 'Taxpayers' money pays for those who uphold justice—not for those who let evil roam free.' Every line is deliberate, measured, and carries weight. He's not a talker, which makes his words feel earned. Wen Qingli's voice is softer, more tentative, but never weak. Her lines like 'I trust the police' and her whispered apologies in that narrow gap show a woman who is learning to speak up even when she's nervous. There's a sweetness to her dialogue that contrasts perfectly with Lu Zheng's terseness. But Gu Huaiyuan—oh, Gu Huaiyuan is a gift. The way he shifts from faux innocence ('Officer, I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about!') to outright contempt ('Maybe you should go back to the countryside to farm and raise pigs instead!') is terrifying because it feels so real. He's the kind of person who uses politeness as a weapon and then drops the mask when he thinks he's safe. His dialogue has this academic precision even in his insults, which makes him feel dangerously intelligent. The narrative voice itself is clean and unobtrusive—always close to Wen Qingli's perspective, which means we experience the world through her senses and emotions. It's a smart choice for a novel that balances romance with crime procedural.
The title of Chapter 13 gives it away immediately: 'A Perfect Night for Murder.' But what I want to talk about is the symbolism of the chickens. Lin Xiazhi snaps three hens' necks and stores them in her spatial ability. Then later, Chen He is sent to kill two chickens for the soup. These chickens represent survival—Lin Xiazhi takes what she needs without hesitation, while Chen He kills out of fear. The same act, completely different motivations. Then there's the severance documents. Lin Xiazhi makes Lin Dagou sign away his parental rights while breaking his fingers one by one. The papers represent freedom, but the method of obtaining them represents violence. Both are necessary in this world. You can't have one without the other. The bonebreaker knife—Bonebreaker, literally named Bonebreaker—is such a perfect symbol. It's not just a weapon, it's a tool of justice in a world where justice doesn't exist. Lin Xiazhi uses it to cut off Lin Dagou's fingers, and those severed bones become evidence of her power. And the spatial storage ability itself? It's symbolic of taking everything that was stolen from them. The property deeds, the silver, the chickens—she's reclaiming what belongs to her family, piece by piece. The moonless, windy night isn't just atmosphere. It's the perfect backdrop for someone who has become something other than human to protect the people she loves.
Okay, can we just talk about how this author understands emotional whiplash on a molecular level? Shen Simo tells herself she only likes his money—*repeatedly*—and then the text literally says she had developed feelings. The cognitive dissonance is so thick you could cut it with a knife. And Lu HuaiChuan? The man is playing 4D chess with her heart while pretending he's just being generous. The WeChat Moments scene is where it all clicks. He posts about Mimi missing her mom with those rabbit pictures, and Shen Simo's heart does this involuntary twitch. Li Xue immediately catches it: "Could Lu HuaiChuan be referring to you as 'mom'?" Shen Simo's denial is so fast it's basically a confession. "First of all, I'm human." But then—the gifts. The transfers. The Hermès bag. He's systematically dismantling her walls with financial generosity while she pretends it doesn't affect her. And the picnic scene? "About as good as… waking up to find I don't need the wheelchair anymore." That line. THAT LINE. He's comparing her scent to his deepest fantasy of being whole again. And she FEEDS him the egg tart. The feeding scene is peak romantic tension disguised as casual intimacy. What kills me is the ending—him sketching her while she naps, flipping through pages of his earlier drawings, preferring the angry lonely look from when he pretended not to know her. He's obsessed with capturing something real, and the fact that his imagination keeps failing him says everything about how complicated this woman is to him. The emotional architecture here is devastating.
A slice-of-life story... with a twist! The charas are well-developed, and each of them shows their unique traits.Just in case if readers are confused, there'll be some scenes in different POV. That'll explain the 'repetitive' phase due to them being on the same page, but different point of views. And the more you read it, the more funnier this one persona is.You'll see in the middle of the story. And a brief of dramatic approach behind the past or the scene, makes us really want to embrace each of the charas. Overall, good work author. ?
Completely unrelated to the story and a completely random thought: Whenever a mc falls in love or is interested in a women and he makes it verbal he is termed as SIMP , this just kills good romance . All these ppl complain uselessly for everything and that make him seem pathetic . Becoz these ppl are ok with mc sleeping with every curvy woman with a good face and let the mc call it as a one time thing and act all emotionless and edgy . But has anyone ever thought how it would be - A romance between a edgy and cold mc who only shows his feelings to a single woman and she responds similarly . (U stupid's will call it as mc being simp and kill the romance anyways , Coz all u guys need is " mc treats woman like tools for pleasure release and woman go crazy due to it " . But that is the true definition of simp - a man who drools and lusts for every single woman , even if he gives grand excuses and his attitude is cool and edgy .) All authors write harem coz they want to keep u guys reeled in and invested in the PLOT ( Mc making different types of woman his property and not a single one has a fully flushed personality . All woman will have a single label and will follow it down to a T. Like a tsundere always keep rejecting his advances even though mc already done the deed . A cold beauty always becomes loose both in the head and below when mc is in the vicinity . Almost all of them will be overprotective and obsessive of him , and after mc is introduced they will lose their own life , fate and story. The woman are just a part of mc , i.e. , they are tailored into his story and are always available for him no matter how important of a position they can be in ) BTW GOOD NOVEL AUTHOR IS A 3.5 STARS FOR ME , BECAUSE I AM STRINGENT WITH THE RATINGS , DONT MIND ME . I WANTED TO VENT MY FRUSTRATIONS WITH THE READERS .
It's actually pretty much unpredictable, this novel went in a way which is unique and out of generic content , every chapter ends with a twist , l really like the way author is taking this novel
Nice, still reading though so I don't have much to say about but the first four chapters I read is awesome. The young master would have left her if not for Mei.
it's good please update fast.... I like drama
A riveting blend of magic, legacy, and secrets. Riel's awakening in a war-torn realm captivates. Knights clash, ancient trees whisper—fantasy at its finest!
Great work here. Author had done a good job. I like the story. It keeps you at the edge of the seat when reading. You silently beg for more.
It's quite an interesting book and kept me on my toes, there's both humour and magic.
I read the synopsis and it seems great. It reminds me of the novel - "Scoring the Ancient Body from the get go". Keep the good work, Author. I will start when there are more chapters.
