Let me just say this—these chapters are set almost entirely in a hospital room, and yet I felt like I was standing in it. The author doesn't do lavish descriptions of the setting, but the details that ARE there hit like photographs. Ruan Zheng cradling the bruised part of her head to SHOW Zheng Jianguo the injury—that visual alone tells you everything. No dialogue needed. The milk tea she rewards herself with after he leaves. The bandages wrapped around her head that Liu Xiangqin notices but doesn't actually ask about. These are the kind of details that make a setting feel lived-in rather than painted. But what really brought the world to life for me was the military compound atmosphere that keeps bleeding into every scene. Liu Xiangqin's demeanor—"adopting the authoritative demeanor she used at the factory"—Song Yao's reputation among the compound aunties, the gossip about Wei Canmou's family losing a chicken that somehow became a spy scandal. This is a world where reputation is currency and a single rumor can destroy careers. The compound isn't just background; it's a character itself, a pressure cooker where everyone is performing for an audience of judgmental neighbors. The hospital ward becomes this strange liminal space where the family's power dynamics are laid bare. Ruan Zheng is literally wounded, vulnerable, bandaged—and yet she's the one holding all the leverage. The physical setting mirrors the emotional one: cold, clinical, sterile, but underneath it all, something festering. I also love how the author uses the System's comedic interjections as a kind of narrative breather. After the tension of the Liu Xiangqin confrontation, we get the System freaking out about data checks and Ruan Zheng crossing her arms and legs like a boss. It's a tonal shift that keeps the pacing from becoming suffocating.
I need to talk about the rain. Like, I read that opening scene in the rain and I literally had to put the book down for a second because the emotional weight of it hit me so hard. "Raindrops struck her transparent umbrella in chaotic, arrhythmic taps—pat, pat—oddly soothing." This line is deceptively simple but it's doing so much work. Su Yundai is standing alone in the rain after her entire life just got rearranged without her consent, and the only thing that grounds her is the sound of water hitting plastic. She's adrift. She says so herself: "her heart adrift like the drifting mist in the rain, without an anchor." And the worst part is how much she loves him anyway. Right after this whole confusing engagement conversation, she's still thinking about how he's "still the very best" in her eyes. She's sitting there with all this disappointment, this sense of injustice, and she still can't bring herself to resent him. That's not love—that's something more complicated and more painful. The WeChat scene afterwards is what really destroyed me though. "The other party is typing…" Her breath stalls. Her heart leaps. She's waiting for him to say something—anything—about the engagement, about how he feels, and he just sends her study materials and says "Ask anything you don't understand. I'll give her a raise." A RAISE. She's sitting there hoping for emotional honesty and he's offering her a salary increase. I've read so many romance novels where the male lead is cold and distant, but Wei Lin is different. He's not cruel. He's just... absent. Emotionally absent. And that's somehow worse because it means he genuinely doesn't realize how much this is hurting her. Or maybe he does and he's just choosing not to see it. Either way, my heart is not okay.
The pacing in these chapters is absolutely masterful. Let me walk through how the author builds tension like a pro. We start with this seemingly innocent scene—young You You defending her parents' love, Lu Fei being slightly intimidated by her intensity. It's light, almost comedic. Then SUDDENLY Producer Su Haolin calls and drops the bomb: the TikTok has gone viral with a million likes. The shift from "cute sibling moment" to "oh god my career is over" happens in like two paragraphs and it's BRILLIANT. The author then does this incredible thing where Lu Fei discovers the videos and we get this rapid-fire escalation: first he's horrified about his image, then he's mortified by the foot-kissing video, then he's bracing for netizen mockery, and then—plot twist—the comments are actually ALL positive. The audience is charmed, not destroyed. That's a classic misdirection that keeps you turning pages. Then just when you think the chapter is done being wild, Su Haolin shows up in person with an invitation to a reality show. And then he drops the Jiang Zhuo bomb. The idol who shaped Lu Fei's entire career is going on a divorce reality show. The emotional whiplash from "my little sister is famous" to "my life's inspiration is getting divorced" is no accident—the author is deliberately stacking revelations to keep the reader completely hooked. The chapter ends with Lu Fei finally agreeing, but not before this beautiful moment where You You calls him out for being scared, and he deflects by saying he's worried about HER suffering. The pacing never lets you settle. Every scene transitions into the next with a new piece of information or emotional beat. No filler, no dragging. Just relentless forward momentum.
nice story but i wish the author made it more movie like cuz i'm getting movie vibes

So there is the shameless five star review of a shameless author. But I truly hope that you guys love this book and support me to move forward. Enemies to lovers have always been one of my favorite troupe of romance. One person hates another person to the point that they can kill each other. But at the same time they can't. As they get to know each other and envelop themselves into each other they can't hate each other anymore. This is an odd feeling don't you think? I have tried my best to highlight every point in this novel and I hope you guys give it a chance. It is not a book if it is not read by anyone. So, I pray that you all make it a loved and memorable book. Have a good day and a happy read. Your Author. ❤️
Interesting ? Worth reading. deeper into the world. In the world of animated reading, the lines between reality and imagination blur. Each frame adds a layer of depth, each scene a new chapter in a tale that only animation can tell, where words and visuals collide. Kudos! ??
With the few chapters the author had dumped, I think it's worthy of a review. If you're looking for a brutal, merciless MC. Then this is for you. A really action packed book. Love the BRUTAL !! descriptions and the accent of some characters - SHAKESPEARIAN LIKE ?. Read this novel, i bet you'll really enjoy it.
somebody tell me why this book isn’t on everyone’s library? it’s really not getting the engagement it deserves for realit’s such a good boook. I love the mortal and greek god combo. I recommend for the girls on here!Hades is such an ass sometimes and Aurelia will get them both killed??
One of the most appealing aspects of this novel is the well-developed characters. Xion isn’t just a passive victim of fate; he actively fights to change his circumstances, Darius is not just a domineering figure but a complex character with several layers , and unexpected tenderness. The side characters also shine, each with their own internal struggles and growth. No one is merely a backdrop to the main romance; they all have depth, making the world feel , the dynamic between Xion and Darius and the balance of humor, drama, and emotional depth makes this story stand out in the transmigration genre. So, If you’re looking for a transmigration novel that goes beyond the usual clichés, its a must-read! Unlike many stories where the protagonist blindly stumbles through a new world, Xion is refreshingly self-aware. He understands his flaws, learns from his mistakes, and—just like most of us—has moments of internal screaming when things out of control.
Things are getting more intense here ?I never would have suspected that his true identity is this!
