'We don't even know you, and you want to hold my daughter? What are you up to? You're not a child trafficker, are you?' — Su Sanlang, protecting his kid with zero filter. I need this man's energy. His dialogue is absolutely fantastic because it's so distinctly HIM. He's not some polished, eloquent character. He's a farmer who's smart, protective, and completely unafraid to say exactly what he's thinking. The scene where he's pretending to be a shrewd businessman at the pharmacy? 'What valuable goods do you have? Tell me.' He's just... going for it. And it works because the narration supports him. Su Muyao watching him and thinking 'anyone who didn't know him would probably assume he was some kind of cunning schemer' is such a perfect moment of father-daughter dynamic. Then there's Old Master Su, who barely says much but when he does, it's always grounded and practical. 'No, no—that's too big!' 'That won't be necessary!' His dialogue is full of that elderly Chinese father energy—concerned, slightly flustered, but deeply loving. And Old Madam Su? She's the comic relief and the heart of the family all in one. Her lines are hilarious but they also reveal something real about her character. She's not just funny—she's practical in her own way, worried about the toilet distance because she's thinking about the daily reality of living in a big house. The dialogue between Su Muyao and her parents is also really well done. There's a warmth to it that doesn't feel forced. When Su Sanlang says 'I didn't raise you for nothing! The first thing you think of after getting money is your father!' and Su Muyao internally wipes off his saliva with visible disgust? That's such a natural, funny, loving exchange. The author's voice in the narration is also great—wry, observant, never over-explaining. It lets the dialogue carry the emotion instead of telling us how to feel.
Okay so this whole chapter is basically one big setup for future conflict and I am HERE for it. Let me break down what's happening because the plot layers are actually really clever. On the surface, the main event is Wen Yan trying to insert herself into Lu Cheng's family by proposing to share meals. She gets completely shut out—not a single person even acknowledges her properly. Lu Yao is the real MVP here, basically giving Wen Yan the cold shoulder so hard it's hilarious. The door slam at the end? Iconic. But the REAL plot thread is the blueberry jam. Gu Yueqian is running a secret side business, and this is where it gets interesting. She's not just making jam for fun—she's using spiritual spring water to make it extra special, then having Lu Cheng sell it at the commune. The money trail is being carefully tracked. And then she personally goes to the production team to hand over five yuan, doing the math on sugar costs and everything. The team leader, secretary, and accountant are all impressed by her 'awareness.' This is setting up a whole moral framework around the jam business. Meanwhile, Lin Yufen is watching from the shadows like some kind of rural gossip villain. She notices Gu Yueqian making jam, sees Lu Cheng leave before dawn with it, comes back to find the family having a feast, and connects the dots: THEY'RE SELLING COLLECTIVE PROPERTY. She's already plotting to catch them in the act. This is classic foreshadowing—Lin Yufen is going to make trouble, and we all know how these stories go. The original book reference is also interesting. Gu Yueqian wonders if her presence has altered the story, specifically whether Lu Cheng will still end up with Wen Yan. This meta-layer suggests the plot is bending around her, which means there are bigger forces at work. The jam business might be the thing that saves them from poverty but also becomes the weapon Lin Yufen uses against them. I'm genuinely curious how this plays out.
you wouldn't won't to Miss it very interesting
An intriguing story you got here. However, the chapters were a bit short, don't you think? Anyways, its a great story, hoping to read more from it. Keep it up.

Author Review Here!Daily updates of two chapters will start next month. In the meantime, here are some things you might want to know; Is this reverse-harem? No. Male lead REFUSES to share. How is the world setting? Not that depraved, but along the line. That’s why there’s a ‘Matured Content’ warning. That’s all the questions I can think of for now, but if you have any question this and the synopsis hasn’t answered, ask and I’ll answer. I hope you enjoy reading.
