It isn't hypocrisy if he's aware of it himself, he knew how the world works, and he was only a remnant soul from the true spirit and coincidentally the remnant spirit is the desire and manifestations of his hidden side or what we call 'bad' of wang yuan, this story is literally anti-hero and tackling the hypocrisy of human birth itself, if we weren't restricted by the thing called law and rules, and thy gods, would you think we will be like this, little cute humans who would drown themselves in the society and their depression instead of looking out there and really seeing the world, life amounts to more than that, tho i think that human itself is a sin i think we should take advantage of that sin to benefit or enjoy this life while we still can, albeit im confusing, i hope this doesn't lower your reading comprehension cause my writing ability is definitely not it lol.

This novel is very good. I was impressed when i realized that depth of the story. The characters are well-designed and the Mc is very interesting too. I will certainly read until the end and add it to my library.
I recommend passing on this one unless you want to read yet another racist author’s work. It doesn’t happen in the first 40 chapters, but I’ve read the MTL and it happens later in the story when the MC goes to a higher realm and is talking to one of the officials in that realm of the likelihood of being able to marry even a maid in the realm. The official tries to explain it with a hypothetical — “If you had a daughter who wanted to marry a Black man, you wouldn’t like that, right?” And MC goes, “I’d break some legs if I had a daughter that dared to marry a Black man.” Ugh.
