The pacing in these chapters is genuinely masterful and I need to break down why it works so well. Let me trace the emotional arc: we start with Yu Sheng calming her anxious mother, then sending her younger sisters to rest, then dealing with the Guiyi situation. It's all methodical, controlled, almost domestic. The author takes time with small details — the bowl of noodles Yu Sheng never gets to eat, the bird's nest porridge, the pastries. There's a rhythm to it that feels like real life unfolding. You can feel the exhaustion building in Yu Sheng even as she maintains her composure. Then comes the Yu Xuan scene. This is where the pacing deliberately SLOWS DOWN. Everything else — the father's critical condition, the threatening family, the ghost doctor's mysterious arrival — falls away, and we get this quiet moment of one sister applying medicine to another's knees. The author could have rushed through this, but instead they linger. We feel every second of it. And then — just as Yu Sheng says "Father will definitely recover" and everyone feels a moment of relief — WHAM. An arrow flies from the eaves and nearly kills Yu Xuan. The transition is so sharp it's almost violent. One moment we're in soft domestic territory, the next we're reading "Be sensible and settle this matter quietly, or else watch out for the lives of your entire family!" The arrow embeds itself in the door panel and suddenly all that quiet intimacy is shattered. What's brilliant about this pacing is that the threat feels PERSONAL. It's not aimed at Yu Sheng, the strong one who can handle herself. It's aimed at Yu Xuan, the fragile half-sister they were just bonding over. The author uses the arrow to punish the reader's sense of safety. We just got comfortable with this tender moment, and then the story yanks the rug out. The chapter ends on "Uncl" — cut off mid-word, mid-sentence, mid-breath. I literally gasped. The author is using fragmentation as a pacing tool here, and it's effective as hell. You're left hanging, desperate to know what happens next, and the incomplete word mirrors the incomplete thought, the interrupted moment, the life that was almost taken. The tension building across these chapters is also worth noting. We go from the mother's nightmare → the father's critical condition → the Guiyi negotiation → the assassination attempt. Each scene raises the stakes slightly, but the author never lets us breathe. There's no real downtime, no relief valve. Even the quiet moments feel charged because we know danger is lurking. This is how you maintain reader engagement. Not through constant action, but through strategic shifts in pace that make the quiet moments feel precious and the violent moments feel devastating.
Hi, I'm a huge fan of your work! I recently finished reading your book and was thoroughly impressed. I'd love to offer some suggestions on how to further boost your book's success and reach an even wider audience. Would you be open to hearing my ideas?
Greetings, dear readers! It is a great honor for me that you have checked out my title! Please, don’t hit me with sticks for any mistakes you might come across—whether grammatical or plot-related. I’m not a professional writer, and this isn’t my main occupation, but as they say, why not give it a shot? This is my first work, so if my storytelling style annoys you, I apologize in advance. I still have a lot to learn and need to gain experience. However, with each chapter, I make progress—or at least, I try to.Give it a read if you find it interesting! And if not... well, read it anyway)
I actually read this before with a friend of mine. and I decided to read on my own. I enjoyed this novel. you did a great job with the details and visuals
Does the MC ying reincarnate in the VR world or he just playing a VR game so his real life body will not really be getting stronger ?
I love the emotion and i love the story development pace. You are brewing something nice. i hope to read the story with the same momentum you are creating dear Author!
Shameless author review here. This novel is a collection of many things. But what it's truly about is love, revenge and life. Stick around
The story is seriously giving ?, It's better than I imagined, it's only the first two episodes but ,the story is better than any vampire story I've ever read ❤️I'm not really a fan of vampire stories but this is the perfect blend of vampire and humans ,the expected facial expression and everything. This is my new best vampire story.
Great story, nice flow and detailed well thought out characters, I am still wondering why the author doesn't want to go premium but it's good to build a fan base first and this tale will get it. Keep on writing! As an invested reader I will keep waiting for the next chapter! ?
Just by reading the synopsis, I find this book captivating. I will surely add it to my library. I really hope this Daniel guy isn’t the ML for Chantelle. And, hopefully FL isn’t one to be mess and make a fool of. I would love to see her an intelligent cunning woman more than her evil twin sister, Kate. It’s frustrating to read books with the Revenge genre but the FL is still as pathetic as she was before she divorced and declared for revenge. I would love to see a real revenge and lots of faceslapping moments?
I rate this story five stars, why of course its my own but the first chapter was FANTASTIC, I loved writing it so much. for years on end I've wanted to manifest this story beyond my imagination. To finally have gained experience in doing so ill do my VERY best :)
It's a bit shameless to review my own book, but here I am. I hope you guys and gals enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it.
