Okay so let me just say this: I did NOT see that ending coming. I was sitting there reading about Luo Xinci nervously entering the study, rehearsing her lines, playing the timid girl role, and then—BAM. Blood. A corpse. Her own father dead on the floor with a dagger in his throat, and his son lounging in the chair like he just finished a casual afternoon snack. My jaw hit the ground. This is the kind of twist that makes you immediately flip to see if there are any spoilers online because you need to process it. What's brilliant about this plot turn is how it recontextualizes everything before it. Luo Xinci's entire motivation for coming to the capital—to investigate the murders that destroyed her family—collides with the fact that she's now standing in a room where a patricide just occurred. The parallel is almost cruel: Miss Sun killed her father and brother for money, and now Luo Xinci is witnessing a son kill his father. Is this another family torn apart by ambition? Or is there something more going on? The structure of these chapters is also really clever. We start with the journey, the tension of impersonation, the fear of being discovered—and then the author deliberately slows everything down with two days of isolation in Yunshang Residence. You feel her impatience, right? She's cooped up, can't investigate anything, and then suddenly the Marquis summons her. It's like the author is building pressure in a sealed container and then—boom. The study scene explodes. I also love how the author planted clues. The maid saying the Marquis is "perhaps somewhat better"—not well, not sick, just... perhaps somewhat better. That vague, unsettling description should have been a red flag. And Steward Tang being busy at critical moments, personally escorting Zhou Lin out of the city. Something was clearly happening behind the scenes, and the household's strange silence was the author whispering: pay attention. The plot is tight. Every scene pushes the mystery forward, and that final image—blood seeping from behind the screen, a young man with a dagger, a dead father at his feet—is the kind of cliffhanger that makes you immediately open the next chapter. I'm obsessed.
Let me just say this: the stakes in this story are NOT subtle. Yin Shan literally dies in the first chapter. Not just dies—gets EATEN ALIVE while her boyfriend sells her for 50 jin of rice. That's not a small conflict, that's a whole genocide-level betrayal. And then she gets reborn with two months to prepare? The tension is already maxed out before we even get to the actual apocalypse. What I found really interesting is the dual conflict structure—there's the external conflict of surviving the apocalypse, but also this deeply personal conflict of protecting her parents who she failed to save last time. When the system detected her father's coronary artery abnormality and gave her a 10-minute countdown to save him, I was literally holding my breath. That's good conflict writing right there—immediate, personal, and with a ticking clock. The father-daughter relationship adds so much emotional weight because we know from the backstory that both parents died protecting her. Every decision she makes now carries the ghost of those failures. And don't even get me started on Lu Yunchao and Wang Yun—those two are already painted as the antagonists, and I can't wait to see what happens when Yin Shan confronts them. The stakes feel personal and universal at the same time.
The setting of Liu's Jewelry Pavilion serves as more than just a backdrop - it's a living ecosystem of social dynamics and economic opportunity. The chapter opens with a flower festival banquet scene that immediately establishes the social hierarchy and the value placed on appearance. The Dressing Pavilion is mentioned as a rival establishment, creating a sense of a broader commercial world. What's fascinating is how the author builds the world through economic details - the twenty-coin minimum fee at the Dressing Pavilion, the five-coin rate Nie Qinghe negotiates, the three-hundred-coin monthly wage of her cousin. These numbers ground the story in a tangible economic reality. The jewelry rental service concept is particularly brilliant worldbuilding - it addresses a real social need where middle-class women want to display wealth at important occasions but can't afford to buy. The celestial garden dream sequence Nie Qinghe concocts is described with such vivid detail - pavilions, pagodas, ethereal maidens painting and dancing - that it feels like a fully realized fantasy world within the story. This dream narrative also reflects the cultural context where supernatural experiences were accepted explanations for sudden knowledge or skill.
Reminiscent if the tale from freek mythology but adapted cery nicely done
when will the next volume of chapter 3 be released ?
The author’s writing and story development are absolutely fantastic! The character arcs are well-crafted, making every twist and turn feel natural yet exciting. The storytelling is immersive, and the pacing is just right, never feeling rushed or too slow. The world-building is also impressive, making the setting feel vivid and real. I truly appreciate the effort put into crafting such an engaging novel.Keep up the great work! Looking forward to more amazing stories from you!
Apocalypse ✅ System ✅ Reincarnation ✅ I'm not asking for more, I love me a strong FL in apocalypse with a great ML supporting her ???
Call me shameless, but who doesn’t rate their own novel five stars? Someone’s gotta do it, right?Writing this story so far has been an absolute blast, but also a bit of a rollercoaster (with plenty of screaming at my screen). There’s a lot more planned—plot twists, big reveals, heartbreak (maybe even a little hope) and a few surprises I can’t wait for you to experience. If dark fantasy, morally complex characters, and a world where things can always get worse (but sometimes better) sound like your kind of thing, give it a try. Thanks for reading, and here’s to the twists and turns still to come! :))
don't waste your time mc is coward rather then being cautious and even with his 10x talent bro still struggles against opponent that should be 2 to 3 times weaker then him and bro just keep all those more the 500 free stutus point to gift someone where he could literally double his all stats by using them
I really hope this wont get dropped. Its really good, i'm 32 chapters in and i got sad there isn't any more updates. For people on the fence i would say give it 3 chapters that's all it took for me to breeze all available chapters without even noticing the time and that is a great sign.
After I read it to 50 chapter i can tell this story have a decent world building, Eventhough, Lan Hengsheng was arrogant at first but later chapter he seem to be more mature, btw keep going?
I’ve been absolutely hooked on this novel! Your world-building and character development are phenomenal, and as a fellow writer I must say I really love your writing style.I recently started my own sci-fi novel, The Strongest Interstellar Soldier System, and it’s been an exciting journey so far. It’s about a young man, Caden Arden, who inherits a mysterious system from his father, a former traitor to humanity, and embarks on a mission to prove himself while navigating a high-tech, interstellar world. I’d love for you (and any fellow readers here!) to check it out and share your thoughts. Your support would mean the world to me as I grow as a writer. Keep up the fantastic work, and I hope we can support each other in this incredible journey!
