I keep thinking about the feather duster as a symbol. It's this absurd, almost cartoonish object that Xu Yijing wields like a weapon, but it represents something deeper—parental authority, the tension between generations, the way love and discipline are tangled up in Chinese families. The duster isn't just a prop, it's a recurring motif that shows how family dynamics don't change even when everyone's grown up. Meanwhile, across town, there's this parallel story about Ms. Wu wiping her daughter Yueyue's face in a hospital ward, and the nurse telling her the fees can only be extended two more days. The contrast is brutal. One family is worried about sleeping schedules; another is worried about survival. The private club subplot with Yi Bohao noticing Ms. Wu adds another layer—there's a whole underworld of desperation happening beneath the surface of these comfortable family gatherings. The novel seems to be building toward some kind of convergence between these worlds. Ms. Wu is torn between working at the club or seeking help from 'someone else.' That 'someone else' is probably Yi Bohao, and Yi Bohao is probably connected to Qin Yi's world somehow. The symbolism of two different worlds colliding is already set up.
Okay, let me just say this — the moment Ruan Zheng opens her eyes in that hospital bed and realizes she's actually IN the novel, I literally sat up in bed. The original plot had her dying on the day of the assault, reduced to a stepping stone for Song Yao's happiness. But this version? She's already planning her next moves while half-asleep. That's not a victim, that's a predator who just realized she has claws. The structure here is so satisfying because it mirrors the classic revenge arc but flips it immediately. Instead of wallowing, she's already thinking three steps ahead. The scene with Zheng Xiujie threatening her is peak plot tension — he's sitting there in his wheelchair, trying to play the benevolent family man, and she just eviscerates him with the truth about her first eighteen years. And the dirt-eating detail? That's the kind of specific, horrifying detail that makes you feel like the author really knows how to make you care. What I love most is how the plot uses the System as a counterpoint to her agency. The System runs calculations and wants her to take the optimal path, but she's already bypassed that entirely by deciding to wait for Zheng Jianguo instead. She's not following a script — she's rewriting it. And that final reveal about Zheng Wanyin's identity being her real bargaining chip? Chef's kiss. She's not just surviving, she's holding the entire family's secrets hostage.
This chapter is a pacing masterclass and I need everyone to notice what the author did here. We go from an intensely intimate, slow-burn romantic scene — every moment stretched out, breath by breath — and then the NEXT morning, we're suddenly at a neighborhood cooperative making wine. How does the author do this without it feeling jarring? I don't know, but it works. The transition is so smooth. Meng Ying yawns, says 'let's sleep,' and then — boom — next day, breakfast, Sister-in-law Liu at the door. No chapter break needed, no 'meanwhile.' It just flows like real life. One moment you're breathless from the romance, the next you're wondering about grape harvests and neighborly dynamics. And that ending! Wang Guifen appearing at the cooperative entrance, munching sunflower seeds like she's been waiting. The tension shifts instantly from romantic to... whatever is coming with her. The author knows exactly when to let you breathe and when to tighten the screws. I stayed up way too late reading this because I needed to know what happens next at the cooperative.

dear author , the story is great but the thing is some plot holes are killing it a bit, I mean things are happening without proper explanation first , and even in the later part the explanation is kind of vague so I hope you improve on that and actually the story is kind of great compared to other villain oriented novels nowadays , Keep up the good work ??
I really liked the world building and the author's writing style.
