They're both sitting at the dinner table calculating how much money they can squeeze out of Qinghuan's marriage like she's some kind of livestock. But then you have Old Madam Zhang, and man, she's the real deal. The flashback where she confronts Qinghuan about throwing away her future? That scene broke my heart because you can feel how much she genuinely cared. "Aren't you afraid you're throwing away your future?" She saw Qinghuan's potential and tried so hard to wake her up, but Qinghuan was too lost in her delusion about Lu Qiming. Now in this life, Qinghuan finally gets it. She's not going to be that naive girl anymore. And the dynamic with Wang Siyu? Cold. Absolutely cold. Qinghuan's eyes turn to ice just thinking about her. I need to just sit with this for a moment because the friendship between Song Yuejiao and Duan Yuyan is genuinely one of the most wholesome things I've read in a while and it made me soft. Like, Song Yuejiao sees this girl whose mother died young, whose father is indifferent, whose stepmother is actively trying to marry her off to a widower, and she doesn't pity her — she just wants to do something nice. She goes to the warehouse to find things Yuyan might need. She invites her out. She compliments her honestly: 'I thought you were already pretty enough, but you look even better today!' And Yuyan's response? She smooths Yuejiao's messy hair and scolds her gently for going out without combing it. That's the kind of intimacy that takes time to build and the author just... let it happen naturally. No drama, no competition, just two girls who genuinely like each other in a world full of people trying to use them. And then Yuyan looks in the bronze mirror and sees sadness between her eyebrows and thinks 'how wonderful it would be if we could escape this mansion together.' That line broke me a little. She's not just making a friend, she's finding someone who might be her way out.
This chapter is absolutely dripping with thematic depth and I'm not even sure the author realizes how much she's layered here. The central metaphor of Zhonggu — a love spell — is doing so much heavy lifting. Xie Yunzheng genuinely believes he's been bewitched rather than accept that he might have real feelings, and this speaks to the novel's broader theme about emotional vulnerability being treated as a disease. His mother went mad from romantic betrayal, so he's decided that all affection is poison. But the irony is that he's the one who can't control his reactions, not Ji Mingzhu. Then there's the theme of performance — the Junzhu's entire existence is acting. She performs affection ('auntie'), she performs concern ('which young lady would be suitable'), she performs kindness to the Old Matriarch. Ji Mingzhu has learned to perform too, but hers is a performance of survival, not manipulation. The repeated imagery of cold versus warmth is also significant — Xie Yunzheng's cold aura, the winter setting, the cold wind he stirs — all contrasted with the warmth of Xie Yunxuan's genuine care. And the Dowry chests the Old Matriarch mentions? That's not generosity, that's a price tag. Ji Mingzhu is being evaluated like merchandise. The novel keeps asking: what is more dehumanizing — being spellbound by love, or being trapped in a world where every relationship is transactional?
Really good novel pace is as smooth as butter and subtle worldbuilding yet effective worldbuiling.Looking for forward to more chapters.Great potential

If you like overpowered main protagonist, you must try it. It has a revenge plot initially, so I know adrenaline-rushing scenes will come later.

Overall Everything is Good for now that is at least for me I do hope author read this comment as I want to say is that please do make mc use all his abilities in a useful way because currently he is too OP literally like final boss so rather then going around like some protagonists for finding opportunities to grow in power he should sit in high place and do the manipulating the final boss or villain does . There are lot of ways he can message with protagonists that appears like creating systems for specially that hates those protagonists like 2nd or 3rd rate villain give them opportunities so that they fight protagonists something like that and upgrade his family background to top level and they only listen to him as he keeps his eyes around his maids so that they get opportunity and get stronger and of some hidden people try to something to his plans he would kill them from behind and he can even create clone or something overall I want to say is if he is always in spotlight and people will keep coming to him for messing with him because they don't know his powers at that point it will literally become "slice of life" type story like where mc keep on face slapping while people keep on coming to him as we all know face slapping where mc literally gets into fight with anyone even beggar what I want to say is As mc here is op and like final boss so he should behave like one not go around the world and look for secret realms like protagonists does in typical storyline so they can get stronger.....Well this is just from my prospective hope author you do some think on wether my suggestion is right or wrong it's completely up to you to take it after if in later the novel transform into face slapping novel then I would have no choice but to drop it because I am too tired of slice of life or face slapping novels lately
This novel had my adrenaline pumping with every new arc!I’m talking about how the protagonist is built, how every obstacle this insane author throws at him just makes things even better.No joke—this is hands down the best character portrayal ever!??

This novel / fanfic is average. Starting is not good with world building and very slow pace but he is trying to make it better in later half.This is story for those who like to explore different types of Pokemon worlds , especially in the old era. I have read some really great ones sadly they stopped releasing for some reason.You can skip some chapters also if you find too slow pacing will not make any impact in the story that much for earlier chapters.Author should rewrite them if he gets time.Release is also slow as if he works for 5 days a week.Author should like this review if you are reading it.
i swear I love this book...the plot has potentials, can't wait to read more chapters.Highly recommend for those who love modern fantasy.
