The dialogue in this chapter is absolutely fantastic, especially Wang Pandai's internal voice. This girl is such a character! When she's whispering with her grandmother, she says 'Granny, I don't dare' and 'She's strong now. Didn't you see what happened to my eldest sister and Lingling?' You can practically hear the fear and reluctance in her voice. She's not evil-she's just weak and scared, which makes her so much more interesting than a one-dimensional villain. And Xu Zhizhi's dialogue is perfect. She's calm, logical, and slightly sarcastic when she needs to be. When Wang Pandai tries to play the victim, Xu Zhizhi just smiles and says 'The five yuan and six jiao I lost were given by Uncle Lu. So I wrote a small Lu on the money.' That's not anger-that's cold, calculated dismantling of a lie. The way she lets Wang Pandai dig her own grave is satisfying as hell. Lu Yuchuan's dialogue is sparse but impactful. He doesn't need to say much; his presence commands the scene. When he says 'They've broken into the director's place-what nerve,' there's this perfect mix of amusement and authority. And his reaction to the filthy handkerchief-'a flicker of disgust' tells us everything without any exposition. The neighbors' dialogue is also great. Hu Xiuping's sarcastic comments, the son who recognizes the boy from the village, Aunt Liang insisting Xu Zhizhi eat before leaving-these small interactions make the world feel lived-in. Everyone has a distinct voice, and I could tell who was speaking even without the dialogue tags.
Okay, I need to talk about Chou Chou because this little demon is honestly the best character in the book. Like, think about it—he's this tiny creature who's supposed to be a fearsome demon, but half the time he's just worried about his master and being scared out of his mind. The scene where he's trembling and saying "Master, don't go any farther. I'm scared..." while simultaneously preparing to fight an Infant-Eating Beast? That's comedy gold, but it's also genuinely touching because you can tell he cares about her. And Mu Shuiqi? She's this weird mix of ruthless businesswoman and selfless hero. One minute she's calculating profit margins with the shopkeeper's wife like a shrewd merchant, and the next she's charging into a demon's territory to save a pregnant woman she doesn't even know. The contrast is hilarious but also kind of inspiring. She's not some perfect heroine—she admits she's terrified, her palms are sweating, she's internally screaming—but she does it anyway. The relationship between them has this really nice dynamic where they're both useless in different ways. She can't even summon her fire properly until the beast is literally jumping at her face, and Chou Chou keeps saying he's too weak to help but then somehow swallows the demon's spirit and gets stronger. It's like they're both pretending to be more capable than they are, but somehow it works out. I also loved the moment when Chou Chou immediately starts flattering her after she accidentally burns the beast to death. "My master is a genius, learning without a teacher, brilliant beyond compare!" Classic demon sycophant energy, but it's clear he's genuinely proud of her too. They've got this unspoken bond after spending days eating and sleeping together—like, they're not just master and servant, they're actually friends. The pregnant woman scene was brutal though. The beast just circling her, laughing, saying "Human lives are worthless"—it made me so angry. And Mu Shuiqi couldn't just stand by. That's when I realized she's not doing this for glory or money. She's doing it because someone has to. "Saving lives matters more! Didn't you see it just took a woman?" That line hit me hard. She's not a hero by choice, she's a hero because she can't be anything else.
Let me just say — the pacing in these chapters is absolutely ruthless in the best way. We go from a violent confrontation with the neighbors, to a quiet family moment in the courtyard, to Xie Zhengnian's hospital awakening, to Qin Nian's secret space, to the kids getting dressed up — and it all flows naturally. No dragging, no rushing. The author knows exactly when to speed up and when to slow down. The fight scene hits fast and hard. Fang Yanli charging, Qin Nian sidestepping, the wife face-planting — it's over in a few paragraphs and that's perfect. You don't need more. Then it pivots to the kids' emotional breakdown, which slows everything down intentionally. You're supposed to sit with that. Let it land. And then — bam — the hospital scene with Xie Zhengnian and Lin Guodong. Comedy relief, but also character development. The sugar water subplot is genius pacing because it does three things at once: it's funny, it shows Xie's growing attachment, and it gives us information about Qin Nian's past without any exposition dumps. The transition from the compound's gossip to Qin Nian's peaceful sleep is subtle but effective. "Qin Nian had no idea that while she and her little ones slept soundly, their names had already become the hottest topic of pillow talk" — this line bridges two scenes that could have felt disconnected. The next morning, the decoration scene, the kids cleaning the courtyard, Tuantuan dropping a brick on his foot — it all builds toward this moment of normalcy that feels earned after the previous night's chaos. My only complaint? I want more of the space scenes. The Treasure Pavilion, the herbs, the one-click water and fertilizer — it's such a unique element and I could read about it all day. But I get it, the author is keeping it grounded.
Okay so let me just say — Zhou Dafu is already being a menace and we haven't even gotten to the fallout yet. The man tastes the winter melon candy, thinks about it for literally two seconds, and then his entire face lights up with this sneaky little plan to replicate it. Can you believe the audacity? He's already had his pastry maker try to copy the brown sugar jujube cake and failed, and now he's sitting there thinking he can do it with the candy. The dramatic irony is killing me because Bai Qianqian has NO IDEA she's been marked. She's out there happily going to shop number two like everything's fine while this guy is already plotting to steal her livelihood. And honestly, the plot structure here is really satisfying — it follows this classic pattern where the protagonist hits a wall (Manfu Pastry Shop says no), almost gives up, then finds an unexpected ally in Li Niang. But the author doesn't let us breathe for too long. Just as we're feeling good about the partnership being sealed, BAM — the carriage scene happens and Old Madam Zhao gets publicly humiliated. The story keeps layering conflicts on top of each other like it's building a pressure cooker. I also love how the Auntie Liu subplot ties in — she's this small, almost incidental character who actually matters because she represents the village's shifting attitude toward Bai Qianqian. The trade feels almost too easy, which makes me wonder if there's more to come. Is Auntie Liu genuinely kind, or is she playing a longer game? Either way, the plot is moving in a really satisfying direction and I'm already worried about what's coming.
I really like the story Start up it's really interesting
it's good novel so far, just need to work on book cover
I really love the story, I thought the story is full of sad emotions but its funny. This story is very interesting! Yvienna is a unique name and she's a savage, I really like this female lead. You will not regret to read this novel, this novel is like reality because not every girl are good. You should try to read this novel and I really like the girl being savage. I also like Kyle because he's a campus crush and he is the owner of the University. They're charisma is very fantastic. I'm still waiting for the next update, I'm so excited what will Yvienna do to Kyle.
They made a lot of changes from the original novel. Good. But still prefer the novel...........................................................
A unique story! Haven't read anything like this one before. The world development, the writing style, characters...blew my mind.Highly recommended!!
Grammer is Good. It's a new story so I don't have much to say. The start was both good and bad, with the shimmering lust already present in the first 10 chapters but I couldn't drop the book because of its potential. I love to see the author realise the books full potential in future.
Yo i was here, all hail racism. Uhh, idk what to say, idk who is author too, but just helping a nиgа out. Good luck with writing your novel, hope it gets contract and youll earn lots of money.
