Let me just quote this because it speaks for itself: "What's so great about meat? Ever tried crispy roast pigeon?" This woman receives a death threat via carrier pigeon and her response is to offer Chen Dali a dagger and suggest he shave Li Shi's head instead, then casually asks if he wants roast pigeon for lunch. The tonal whiplash is immaculate. Her dialogue doesn't follow any rules. One moment she's giving medical advice to Fifth Madam Chu with clinical precision, the next she's threatening to have someone scratched until they bleed. And Chen Dali's voice is perfectly calibrated to match—this guy goes from respectful servant to terrified hostage in two seconds flat. "Please spare me, Grandma! I wouldn't dare! I'll go shave someone else's head and report that instead." The man has clearly been through this before and has learned exactly how to survive her. But what I love most is how the narrative voice itself shifts depending on whose perspective we're in. When we're with Chu Linzhang, the prose is careful, analytical, almost reverent toward Hua Zhiyun. When we're with Hua Zhiyun, it's sharp, darkly comic, and completely unbothered. Su Wanmei's sections are all internal monologue and scheming, full of self-congratulation and hidden desperation. Three completely different narrative voices in one novel and they never bleed into each other. That's craft.
The dialogue in this section is where the author really earns their keep. Let me give you an example that made me stop and re-read: Qian Sanya asks in a soft, almost sweet voice, "Zhao Mama, what kind of job did Elder Brother Zhao get?" And Mother Zhao, completely fooled by the tone, replies casually: "A railway job." That's it. That's the trap. Qian Sanya doesn't need to accuse anyone—she just needs to ask the right question at the right time, and the truth spills out on its own. The author's narrative voice also has this wonderful dry wit. When describing the wedding banquet, we get lines like "On the surface, there was chicken, duck, fish, and meat, even desserts—everything seemed abundant. But in fact, it hadn't cost that much." The narrator is basically winking at us while everyone else at the table is eating and praising. And then there's Mother Zhao's internal monologue: "Wool comes from the sheep's back. Whatever the Qian family gained from her, she would take back double later." This line alone tells us everything about her character—she's not a victim, she's a player. The dialogue feels natural because no one says exactly what they mean. Every conversation is layered with hidden agendas, and the author trusts the reader to catch it. Even the Qian family's reactions are telling—they don't directly accuse Mother Zhao of theft, they just imply it through questions about where the money came from. The subtext is where the real drama lives.
This is the most satisfying scene I have ever read and I am not being dramatic. Elder Tián comes storming in with her whole entourage — greedy, entitled, ready to strip her own family bare. She's screaming about how the second branch belongs to the main household, how the money should be redistributed. Classic abuser logic, really. And Liú Xiǎomǎn? She doesn't even raise her voice. She just lays out the separation documents like a lawyer and turns the whole thing into a public trial. The villagers start turning against Elder Tián, and then the grandmother decides to escalate by throwing a full tantrum — crawling toward Liú Xiǎomǎn, screaming about unfilial grandchildren, trying to play the victim one last time. And that's when the Misfortune Sticker goes on. The text describes it perfectly: Elder Tián's fingers reach out, Liú Xiǎomǎn feigns panic, and SLAP — the sticker dissolves. Then Elder Tián overextends, rolls on the ground, and steps directly into fresh dog feces. Face first. The sound was described as a heavy "thud" with a spray of dust. Then her accomplices try to help and one trips over a stone and the other snaps his back. It's a live-action farce. The village chief pulls out the documents, declares the split valid, and they all flee in humiliation. I laughed out loud. I actually laughed out loud at a novel at 11pm.
I need to talk about the rain scene because my heart is literally still recovering from it. Tsuna standing there, soaked to the bone, hearing the girl he likes say she'd never like someone 'like him'—and then watching her run away crying? I actually had to put the book down for a second. What kills me most is how Tsuna's internal monologue works. He's not angry. He's not even really hurt in a bitter way. He's just... sad. And then he goes home and pulls the blanket over his face and cries, and his first thought is 'tomorrow I'll explain everything and even if it was a prank I did it willingly and I don't blame her.' That is the most Tsuna thing ever. He absorbs pain and turns it into devotion. And Mari—oh god, Mari. The way she clutches his hand when she's asking him to be her boyfriend, her hand 'soft, cold, trembling,' like she's grabbing the last lifeline in the world. She wasn't just using him. She was trapped. She needed an escape from those bullies and he was the only person she felt safe with, and somewhere along the way the line between 'using him' and 'actually needing him' just... dissolved. I think that's what makes this CP so painful to read. They both wanted it. They both just didn't know how to say it without breaking.
Loving this story! Well written and exciting to follow I found myself reading to chapter 13 wanting to read more! Keep it up! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Guys i will be uploading one chapter everyday so i hope you guys like it and please read it
seen this in official website but honestly why didn't you have posted ? more chapters!!!!!
I think it's a good start. Writing quality can be improved. Writer should post more daily chapters instead of 2.
It's a short , simple and sweet story with no nonsense . I totally loved it.
I really want to read this book, but I'm afraid of spending coins for any chapters after what you've done in your previous novels. Currently, around chapter 30, the plot line, character development , and scenes are well played out. Grammar still seems to be an issue as with your previous novels. I still recommend an editor or even AI to proofread and correct these mistakes. If I can see the updates being consistent , without the usual "Will update tomorrow" or "Don't buy yet
Nice plot! This novel is amazing, I advise you to read it ??
Wtf. There is being dense and then there’s an eq of -♾️. The whole story is cringe tropes and being dense and weird absolutely bizarre character choices.
