Okay so the visual storytelling in this opening is absolutely devastating and I need to unpack it because the author is doing something really clever with color and space. Let me start with the most powerful image in these chapters: the red wedding gown. Hua Heng pulls it out of a trunk like it's some kind of trophy, and the text specifically says Feng Buji "tailored with his own hands." Tailored. Not ordered from a shop. Not commissioned. He made this dress himself. And it's RED. The color of wedding, of celebration, of everything Xiao Mingyue was supposed to be receiving. She's standing there in her wet, tea-stained clothes — summer clothing, thin fabric, burning skin — while Hua Heng holds up this magnificent red gown that was meant for someone else. The contrast is almost violent. "The blood pool on the floor grew larger, far more crimson than the wedding gown in her hands." This line gave me chills. Actually chills. The author deliberately mirrors the blood with the wedding dress, connecting Xiao Mingyue's physical pain with the death of her future. Both are red. Both are being spilled. But one is chosen and the other is accidental — or so we think. The Regent's Residence itself feels like a character. It's described as having gates, courtyards, screens — a space designed for hierarchy and propriety. But every room becomes a trap. The street outside where the carriage arrives, the main hall where the tea is spilled, the private chamber behind the screen where Hua Heng corners Xiao Mingyue. Each location escalates the humiliation. There's no safe space for our protagonist. And the crowd! "A large crowd of onlookers had already gathered on the street in front of the residence, whispering and pointing at them." This isn't just background detail — it's the social world closing in. Xiao Mingyue can't escape because everyone is watching. Her public humiliation is as important as her private one. The residence becomes a stage and she's the performer in her own tragedy. The physical descriptions of Hua Heng are also doing heavy lifting. "Complexion truly resembled blooming peach blossoms, her eyes sparkling like a bright spring day." She's described in natural, vibrant imagery — flowers, water, spring. While Xiao Mingyue is described in terms of pain, heat, and shrinking. One is alive and blooming, the other is burning and fading. It's almost too on-the-nose but it works because the emotional truth behind it is so sharp.
Let me just sit with this for a second. Ruan Xingci arrives in a foreign country, in a body everyone already despises, married to a man who is supposedly sick and dying, with NO allies, NO family, and a husband who couldn't even come to this confrontation because he was worried she'd upset his mother. And yet she walks into that room and absolutely TERRORIZES two people who have spent their lives wielding authority over her. The stakes here are so much higher than just "will she fit in with her new family." This is a woman who transmigrated into a life that was designed to be a punishment. Fat, ugly, from a barbarian nation, married to a political convenience—every single marker says she should be the most powerless person in that manor. But the author makes it clear through her internal monologue that she understands something Ying Mei doesn't: these people have been exploiting Nangong Rang for years. They have no conscience left. Asking for their sympathy is pointless. "If they never intended to let me have an easy life from the start, why should I try to win their sympathy so they'll let go?" That line hit me like a truck. It's not just clever—it's the key to understanding the entire conflict. The Second and Third Branches aren't just being mean. They're systematically draining the Heir Apparent's resources and influence. Ruan Xingci defending him publicly isn't causing problems; it's the first time someone has STOPPED the bleeding, even if it's messy. And the real tension going forward? Ying Mei now KNOWS that Ruan Xingci sees through her. The mother-in-law-daughter-in-law relationship has fundamentally shifted. Ying Mei can't just dismiss her as a barbarian brute anymore. She has to actually contend with a woman who is smarter than she is. That's way more interesting than simple villainy.
So much fun to read. I like the female Mc. She's very funny and cool. Good job author. I will support. More chapters please. Te update is a bit slow.
Hello, here is Ory, the author. First of all, I don't know how this story is going to turn out, but I see a lot of rather cliché stories on the internet and I'm trying to innovate with this one, so I'm trying to do my best :)So, what's the story about: Well, it's about a boy named Shin who wants to find his sister who mysteriously disappeared 5 years ago in an event that changed Shin to the core.Is there romance? Yes, but no harem. As for the pace of publication, I'll try to do 1 chapter a week, maybe more (I'm not full time), except when I have more free time when I'll publish more, so add the book to the library. If you have any questions or suggestions, you can put them in the comments, I'll try to answer. Also, this story is translated from English by myself so if you see any errors please let me know
if you shut your brain off it'll be a good story but when you notice how some of this stuff makes zero sense it jus kills your mood. 1. the power scaling is legit horrible like he didnt even think anything out. for some strange reason they are B ranks and in additon to that B ranks in this novel are like S ranks in others also this ranking system goes into like XX which isnt bad but the only reason they go that far is because the author is adamant about having B rank charachters also the mc reaches the novel mc's level reltivley quick and gets a affinity really quick as well and also has two systems that say the same thing so why cant he just have had his orignal system merge with the new system? 2. For some strange reason they fight proffesers which wouldnt be bad but the author uses this chance to introduce other charachters. Its not bad to use cliches cus theres a reason they use them. For example the entrence exam cliche " First Years do tests, fight each other or fight second years that are lower ranking" because obviously this academy wants to see how they do to the lower ranking former first years why would they if the proffesers are XX rank they wouldnt need to fight the students themselves to see how good they are. 3. He introduces so much charachters so quick and doesnt really even introudce someone fully first he jus dashes and goes to the next person.4. He jus gets power ups for no reason???? He gets the cliche no emotion skill fine, but also is out cold for a week where apperntly no one inclduing his very loving mother doesnt contact him at all?? they are super super rich so why doesnt she have somsone watching him why would this rich family leave their son alone and with no body guards it makes no sense. Also has the cliche average mc but his whole family is very attractive so how is he the only average one. I'll keep reading but i doubt ill spend money on this i personally think the author should rewrite this novel and fix the pwer scaling and some of the plot holes as well
It's time to enjoy another action-packed novel like the other two.
Shameless author here to give myself 5 stars , and please, if you have any questions or feedback, don't be afraid to share. Anyway, I'm off to write the next couple of chapters. See ya! ?.
Well... not for sissies. Pure lemon, deception, ntr, etc. . .
The new chapter is fun, wonderful and very bloody. What a great chapter. Give me the atmosphere of Lovecraft's novel Dreams in the Witch's House. Well done. Keep writing boy
I LOVE world-building, but it felt too short—almost like reading a Chinese manhwa! just a joke
have yet to read it (as there are only 4 chapters out as of now lol) but I love the author and their other works and hate that the only other review is a one star from someone who says they "hate the witch that helps others (for free?)" like what? you read the synopsis, no? you should've known about that already..... sigh
Good Storyline, plot and the chapter are small.??✨️
