Can we just take a moment to appreciate the absolute WEAPON that is Xie Ning's dialogue? This woman does not come to play. Every line she speaks is a small act of defiance and I am obsessed. "A thousand years from now, when your corpse is dug up, everything else will have softened, but your mouth will still be as hard as ever." — This is not just a comeback. This is a FULL SENTENCE. A properly constructed, grammatically correct, devastating insult delivered with the casual elegance of someone commenting on the weather. Lu Tingyan literally has no response to this. He just stands there, stunned, because WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THAT? Then: "What do you want me to give you? A leak-proof urn?" — She's being physically restrained, her friend is in the hospital, and her response is a JOKE about urns. This woman is built different. And the back-and-forth: "Can't you speak properly?" "I speak properly to people, not to dogs." "You really are a dog." This is not a romantic confrontation. This is a WAR. And she's winning. But here's what's interesting—the author also gives Lu Tingyan some genuinely good lines. "Your struggling feels like flirting to me. Are you sure you want to keep this up?" — That's creepy, sure, but it's also the kind of line that reveals everything about his character. He's so used to people wanting him that he genuinely can't imagine she's resisting for any other reason. The dialogue here does double duty: it's entertaining AND it's character revelation. Every exchange tells you something about who these people are.
So let me be honest with you—this batch had some serious momentum issues mixed in with some of the best reading I've had all week. The Xu Chanhua scenes? Flawless. Every moment propels you forward. She orders, she eats, she reacts, she wants more, her son eats everything, she discovers new things. It's a perfect cascade of tiny discoveries that builds into this overwhelming sense of 'I need to keep reading because there's always another bite coming.' But then you hit the Ding Yi subplot and it's like the author remembered they had other characters to service. It works fine as a parallel thread, but it slows the whole thing down in a way that's noticeable. The real pacing killer though? The transition from the restaurant scene to Jiang Mo stepping outside to find the honey vendor. It just... stops. One moment she's wiping her hands after cooking, the next she's on the street like nothing happened. No bridge, no beat. It felt like the author got excited about the honey idea and just ran with it. That said, the Yinling introduction is genuinely well-handled. The contrast between Jiang Mo's refined appearance and Yinling's patched, dusty clothes creates immediate tension and sympathy. I just wish the author had spent more time in the restaurant and less time pivoting to street scenes. The food moments are the gold here.
I need to stop and just sit with something for a second. Zeng Yan looks at that yellowed family photo and the narrative just... stops. Her grandfather raised her. Her parents died in a cave-in when she was nine. Her grandfather died when she was in college. Both sets of grandparents are gone. She's alone in both lifetimes. And then she transmigrates into a body that also has no real family—just a manipulative mother and greedy relatives who show up at the hospital to steal patient food. 'I wanted to live my life to the fullest because I wanted to experience the breadth of life for her loved ones, too.' I'm not okay. This line destroyed me. She wasn't just working hard for herself—she was living for people who couldn't anymore. And now she's in a new body, with a new girl's memories, and she says 'Now there is one more person.' She's not rejecting the original owner. She's adopting her. The emotional core of this book isn't the livestream space or the transmigration gimmick. It's two lonely women—one dead, one alive—deciding to survive together. That's the thing I keep coming back to. Every time Zeng Yan eats something from her space, every time she plans her business, every time she stands up to her family, she's doing it for both of them. The original owner's hunger, her suffering, her almost-death—it all matters. And that's why the grandmother confrontation at the end isn't just satisfying revenge. It's protection. This girl is finally someone's champion.
Ashborn is an unexpectedly enjoyable read with a likable MC and a great balance of humour that makes the story engaging. The comical vibe feels natural, and the well-written dialogue flows smoothly, making character interactions entertaining. The short, digestible chapters make it easy to binge without realising it.Perfect for both casual and dedicated readers. With its lighthearted yet immersive storytelling, this isekai novel is a great pick for anyone looking for a fun and effortless read.
great novel never seen something like it before I nice take into the basket ball novelsso I highly recommend it to any one who loves basketball
I'm giving 1 star in character design because he literally broke his streak and promise to his grandfather because Maria literally pressured him to do so. keep in mind that this same guy is the one who said "once you break it once it's easier to break again" it just broke the immersion and the character image I had in mind
? Intelligent MC – Forget naive heroes. Our protagonist wields sharp logic and ruthless strategy to manipulate allies and destroy enemies.? Dangerous Waifus – Forget helpless damsels. Here, women are as lethal as they are beautiful—assassins, sorceresses, and ruthless warriors. But even the fiercest will learn their place, marked with collars and bent to the will of the true emperor.
Thank you for your hard work! Looking forward for more updates. I like how the build up and concept were coming together because the story is great
When it comes to Mystery and story development, I'll give the story a 10/10. I've been reading it for a while now and I still can't put it down. Who kidnapped them? what is the organization after? the Author is just killing me by leaving me hanging.
