I have to say, the setting in this section is genuinely beautiful and I wish more web novels put this much care into their environments. The house itself is described with such specific, lived-in detail that I could literally picture it. Three main rooms, smaller buildings on the eastern side—one storage, one shut, one kitchen. A vegetable garden on the western side that's overgrown with weeds. A large peach tree in the middle of the courtyard with a stone table and four stone stools beneath it. A well beside large water jars, a small pond not far away. The text says: "The courtyard itself was quite spacious, and the brick-and-tile house had clearly been built at great expense. The former owner must once have been fairly well-off." And you just know—this house has history. A hunter built it, his son passed the provincial examination, they moved to the city, and now it's waiting for new people to fill it with life again. There's something so poetic about that. And the village itself! The village head's wife offering steamed buns because "you and your husband just moved in, so I'm sure that house isn't ready for cooking yet." That's the kind of neighborly detail that makes a fictional place feel real. The elderly woman at the village entrance giving directions—"Go straight down this road. At the big pear tree, take the third house on the right." These aren't background decorations, they're the texture of a world that exists beyond the main characters. The bathhouse discovery also made me smile. Qingqing finds it and "that discovery pleased her even more." A bathhouse! In a rural village! She's basically doing a happy dance internally and I love that the author lets us in on that joy.
I need to talk about the sheer amount of theft happening in this story because WOW. Let me count the ways: First, Shen Mingyuan stole her parents' inheritance three years ago when they died. He's been 'managing' it under the pretense of guarding it until they come of age, but let's be real — he's been living off their money this whole time. That's the foundation conflict, the original sin. Then he tries to steal her dowry in broad daylight at the dinner table, disguised as 'filial respect.' His own daughter Shen Miao is out here openly demanding the bride price like it's her birthright. And Shen Miao then BREAKS INTO SHEN WAN'S ROOM and steals it. A thief. In her own house. While her own family watches. Meanwhile, Yan Xiao is stealing her future with a forced marriage. He literally says 'you have no right to negotiate with me.' He gives her the bride price in front of everyone as a power move — not because he wants to court her, but because he wants the Shen family to see who owns what now. The stakes keep escalating and the author is ruthless about it. Every time Shen Wan thinks she has a moment of control, someone takes it away. And the physical confrontation at the end with Shen Miao — 'A medical student knows how to use leverage' — that line gave me chills. She's not just surviving; she's learning to fight back with the tools she has. The fact that she's a trained physician and literally knows how to take someone down anatomically? Perfect casting. What I love is that the tension isn't just external. Shen Wan is also fighting herself — her disgust, her fear, her anger, and whatever complicated thing she feels when Yan Xiao is near. She says she's not afraid, she's disgusted. But is that entirely true?
'For a moment, she had clearly seen the library of University A from her past life—every row, every column, even the shelf numbers marked along them.' This is the moment the entire novel shifts. Up until this point, Mingtang's past-life memories were just background texture—hints of who she used to be. But the cat touching the red ink and triggering that vision? That's not a coincidence, that's a KEY. The stakes just went from 'survive in a new life' to 'I have access to an entire library from my past life through this cat.' And the poem she quotes—'With salt and branch I welcome my little cat, to guard ten thousand scrolls within my hut'—she's not just being poetic, she's literally describing the mechanism. The cat is the vessel. The adoption ceremony wasn't just sentimentality, it was a ritual that unlocked something. What does this mean for the plot? Everything. She can now access knowledge—books, recipes, possibly even the skills and memories tied to that library. But here's what keeps me up at night: the vision came with a headache, cold sweat, blinding light. This power has a cost. And she's using it while her mother is still recovering, while they're struggling financially, while Father Shen is dealing with academy politics. The stakes aren't just personal anymore—they're existential. What happens when someone else discovers what Mingtang can do? The chapter ends on a comedic note with the father catching her mid-insult, but I'm not laughing anymore. I'm watching her like she's walking a tightrope over a very deep cliff.
Nice story. The characters are very dynamic and I like the author's style of writing. I'll keep following. Keep up the good work ?
I see that the author corrects the first chapter and manage to make the story more appealing. Great work author, thank you and more power. I look forward to your book's progress.

Hi, Author here! (And shamelessly giving my novel 5 stars :,) )If you're interested in seeing a story with a somewhat similar set-up to Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, but in a more fantasy setting? Well, Fanfic Isekai is the novel for you! While writing this, I hope to include:- An MC that has knowledge of how the story plays out, but is otherwise weak at first and is dragged along by the plot- By the end, he'll be the one changing the story himself- Characters he created, from villains to side characters, will develop into their own people, past even what he sees them as (just characters in a book)- A diverse and interesting cast/setting/lore with twists and turns in the plotIf this intrigues you, give the novel a try! Please treat this review as a Q/A section and I'll try my best to answer your questions.Thank you.
