I have to talk about the dialogue in these chapters because it's genuinely hilarious and the voices are so distinct. The anonymous forum posts are a standout. The way netizens dissect this gossip is perfectly captured—the eagerness, the speculation, the cruelty. "Better to bite into a thousand fake melons than miss out on a real one" is such a sharp observation about internet culture, and then the replies deliver: people immediately jumping to conclusions, defending, attacking, all within thirty posts. The OP vanishing and coming back with "May lightning strike me if I'm making this up" is such a perfect internet moment. And then the comments about Liang Yan—"Tch. A woman who keeps clinging to Lu Lincheng like that… whatever happens, she deserves it"—this is the kind of dialogue that makes you want to throw the book across the room. But the MC banter is equally sharp. The way they handle Liang Yan versus Qin Yueshi reveals so much about the industry dynamics. With Qin Yueshi, they're all exaggerated compliments and playful teasing. With Liang Yan, they deliberately hold back. One MC says "Get out of here—what kind of CEO looks like you?" and the youngest idol Yan Zhun just stands there looking lost. The head MC Liu Hongliang forcing a laugh after Liang Yan gets the song wrong, trying to smooth things over—that's variety show professionalism at its most visible. And then there's Liang Yan's own dialogue, which is surprisingly grounded. When she's moving bricks and the director reminds her to talk more on camera, she says: "I really think construction workers have it so hard. This job is… honestly, just so tough." And then immediately follows up with: "Every single worker is like a crucial screw in the machinery of urban development. It's thanks to their hard work that we get to enjoy such a good life." The contrast between her genuine exhaustion and the slightly performative gratitude is perfect—it's the kind of thing someone would actually say on camera while secretly dying inside. The author's voice throughout is warm, observant, and never judgmental, even when the content is brutal.
This opening arc is so deliciously layered. You have Shen Simo, a 22-year-old print model trying to climb the ladder, and Lu Huaichuan, a wealthy artist who seems fragile but is clearly playing a much longer game. The plot sets up this perfect predator-prey reversal right from the start. The first meeting on the street is genius storytelling. She helps him with his stuck wheelchair wheels, gives him practical advice about the uneven pavement, and walks away before he can even thank her. On the surface, it's a sweet random act of kindness. But then the narration drops this: "No money, leg problems, and probably impotent too—what was the point of just a pretty face?" And suddenly you realize she's already calculating whether he's worth her time. Classic Shen Simo. Then they run into each other at the bar, and the plot thickens. She spots him, remembers Li Xue's comment about his fifty-million net worth, and decides to make her move. The scene where she pushes his wheelchair through the exhibition and deliberately positions him in front of that provocative painting of a reclining woman—this is where the power dynamic starts to shift. Who's really in control here? She thinks she's using him for connections, but the narrative voice keeps reminding us: "As a freshly graduated 22-year-old, she was no match for him—she would undoubtedly become his Plaything." The structure is tight. Every encounter escalates the tension. Street → Bar → Exhibition. Each location raises the stakes and deepens the mystery around Lu Huaichuan. And that ending line from Li Xue, slurred and half-conscious: "None who get close to Lu Huaichuan end up well… Without exception…" The author is basically screaming DON'T TRUST HIM while Shen Simo is busy admiring his watch. I'm hooked. This is the kind of slow-burn cat-and-mouse that makes you want to binge-read at 2 AM.
Okay so this whole Mu Heng reveal had me absolutely losing it. Let me just say it straight: the guy is a menace. A gorgeous, cultivates-at-the-pinnacle, senior-brother menace. The moment he showed up at that pavilion, I knew something was up. Not because he's some mysterious figure (though he totally is — two disciples in the entire Mystic Law Hall?? Who does that??), but because of the way Lin Lumi's reaction shifted. First it was trauma. Then it was confusion. Then it was this weird mix of "I can't believe this is happening" and "why is he always showing up everywhere." But the real gem of this whole section is their exchange at the end. When someone in the crowd asked how long they've known each other, Mu Heng blurts out "Childhood sweethearts" and Lin Lumi immediately counters with "Sworn enemies." They say it at the same time. SAME TIME. And then he tries to keep going about saving her and going into the palace and she literally covers his mouth. What does that mean?? What DOES it mean?? She knows him. She's been with him. She's been through something with him that he's clearly not supposed to be talking about, and she's protecting whatever secret that is by shutting him up. But also — and this is what gets me — she's not actually angry at him. She's annoyed, sure, but there's this whole layer of familiarity underneath it. Like they have a language that nobody else in that room understands. And Mu Heng? He's enjoying this. I can tell. The way he smiles, the way he teases her in front of everyone — he's playing a game and she's the only piece on the board he cares about. But is it a game to him, or is he genuinely trying to get close to her and this is his clumsy way of doing it? Because honestly, both could be true at the same time. I need to know what happened between them before the story started. The palace incident he almost mentioned? That's clearly huge. And the fact that Lin Lumi knows about Wei Lingfeng but won't tell Mu Heng how? That's a power move, and she knows he'll notice it.
I think it’s really interesting that this guy turned down a system that would’ve made him powerful get a lot of money and getting left over the system goes to the Academy will be pretty surprised and it would be hilarious AVI accidentally end up doing what was supposed to be the main mission of the whole system and now thanks to him for not on. He ended up like this. He has to deal with a half system the lesser half two.

absolutely mind-blowing and captivating novel, Author?
It is a very structured and well-planned story, the characters are intriguing as well as being very interesting.I love the historical context, and even though it is not so faithful to the original story content, it makes me want to know more about the characters.
I so so like how detailed it is and I like how the story flows. I like how you create the novel itself, like the construction. The way you build tension and curiosity makes it impossible to put your book down. Every chapter keeps the reader engaged, eager to know what happens next. Keep writing, my dear author.
