There's a recurring image that keeps coming back to me—the photo of Song Jinze sprawled on the sofa, drooling, chili oil stains on his clothes, half a handful of peanuts frozen mid-air. This is the Supreme Commander, the S-class elite, the man who once threatened to put a bullet in someone's skull. And he looks like a useless husband who stayed up too late watching sports. I think the author is doing something really clever here with the theme of image versus reality. Song Jinze has spent his entire life cultivating an aura of terrifying competence. But in Xu Lian's body, that image is impossible to maintain. His body is too weak, too allergic, too fundamentally inadequate. The drool photo becomes this symbol of his vulnerability—something Gu Ying immediately recognizes as destructive to his authority. If his blind supporters saw this, their illusions would shatter. And yet, there's something almost tender about it too. This is the first time we see Song Jinze truly unguarded, even if it's only because he's been reduced to this helpless state. The body swap isn't just a plot device—it's an equalizer. It strips away the power and leaves only the raw, pathetic human underneath.
Can we talk about how the author describes Yan Xiao's bedroom? Because this is worldbuilding done RIGHT. It's not some generic warlord's mansion with gold everywhere and expensive-looking nonsense. The text specifically says it's 'simple and elegant, with a touch of refinement' and there are 'ink-wash paintings hung on the walls, their brushstrokes strong and vigorous.' This tells us SO much about Yan Xiao without any exposition dump. He's a man of war, but he appreciates art. He's rough but has taste. And the fact that the dressing table was 'specially prepared for her arrival' with three different combs in the drawers—it's these small details that make the world feel lived-in. The wedding feast food being in 'exact portions' is another one of those details that says everything about Yan Xiao's controlling nature without him having to say a word. And the scene with Shen Wan changing out of her sweat-stuck wedding gown, the bathwater, the locked door—that entire sequence has this intimate, almost claustrophobic quality that makes you feel like you're right there in the room with her. The author doesn't over-describe, but every detail chosen serves a purpose. The moonlight through the balcony, the dim light, the cold wind—that's cinematic.
Okay so let me just say this: the plot here is doing SO MUCH heavy lifting and I am here for it. You've got the main thread—Pei Ji finally gets to see Luo Fu after their formal matchmaking, and the chemistry is instant. He's literally been thinking about her while out on cases. "Now that he had finally returned, of course, he wanted to see her first." But then—plot twist incoming—Shen Zhirou exists, and she's not just some background character, she's a FULL-BLOWNED THREAT with a seven-year history and a physical relationship with the male lead. What really got me was the structure of the reveal. We meet Luo Fu and Pei Ji in that stifling afternoon heat, this electric moment between them, and then Chapter 4 just SLAMS into Shen Zhirou's POV and we get the full backstory dump. She drugged him. She took advantage. And she's been playing the long game ever since. The author doesn't even let us forget it—Pei Ji literally thinks about how he can't send her away because "Fu'er wouldn't love a heartless man." He's trying to be decent and it's making everything infinitely more complicated. And then the family dynamics! Madam Xu is already hostile toward Luo Fu before she even enters the house, and Pei Yu is throwing shade. The plot is layering conflict on top of conflict and I'm literally leaning forward reading this.
This book is great! Perfect balance of emotion and intrigue. You'll definitely find something to love here.
Hi author I think the novel is good but not my type and here are some suggestions or ideas for a new novel
Thank you very much for rating my first novel, bro. I don't know how you got there, but thank you; I really appreciate it. Also, if you have time, can you review 'Unfamiliar Wanderer'? Onto your novel, it was really good, even though I'm not really interested in romance that much. But because of your writing, I got hooked into it. Also, good pacing and tone, but I still don't know the characters since I've only read chapter 1. Overall, a good novel. Don't stop.
Really incredible story of enemies to lovers that has a bearable, perfect slow burn that’s quite adorable to read about! Characters are excellent, love the back and forth between them and how the small misunderstandings between them aren’t dragged out for years; everything is incredible and it’s one of the better Yuri novels I’ve read!Keep it up with the amazing story!

I’ve encountered numerous difficulties as an author, and to be honest, I feel I lack many of the essential skills needed for this journey. Patience has eluded me, and my progress has become stagnant, as evidenced by my profile, where you can see that many of my works have either dropped off or remain unfinished.I acknowledge that I have been the primary reason for these setbacks, but being a full-time writer means this is my sole focus, and right now, financial stability is crucial for me—just to clarify, I hope you don’t judge me too harshly for the many works that have stalled. If this book doesn't garner enough support to sustain me, I plan to move on and try writing another one until I find one that achieves the stability I need. My goal for this one is to maintain a consistent schedule, ideally two chapters per day.I previously attempted to juggle several projects at once but realized that this approach led to my struggles in delivering something worthwhile. Finally: It's my first time entering such an unknown genre—I have always written harem and similar stories, and I'm trying something like this for the first time.Let's see where it goes. However, I can only commit to 60 chapters without fearing that it might be dropped midway. If it performs well, we are set to go for another century.
