Okay I need to talk about this one scene because honestly it wrecked me in the best way. Fu Min taking the plate of grilled fish and secretly giving bites to her three younger siblings while their mom is busy serving porridge. She's nine years old and already playing mom. And then Xinyang timidly asking for three, Fu Xiangdong insisting on two, and Xinyu just silently holding out her bowl saying 'Mommy decides' — I was not prepared for that level of childhood chaos and love hitting me at the same time. But what really got me was the Ye Qingyun moment. She sees them all crowding around the stove, drool practically dripping from Fu Xiangdong's mouth, and instead of scolding them for being greedy she just... smiles. She takes the plate, puts it in the middle of the table, and says 'Watch out for the fish bones!' That's it. That's the whole parenting flex. She's exhausted, she's a former cultivator now stuck in a rural commune with four kids and an old man, and she still finds the bandwidth to be gentle about it. And Wang Tiezhu — the guy who complained for three hundred years about bathing children — he's the one grilling the fish. He loves food, sure, but he's also feeding these kids. There's something quietly tender about an immortal who can't keep up with his disciple running back down the mountain, now sprinting to catch up with life. I keep thinking about that line where Ye Qingyun pokes each of the four children to make sure they're asleep before she heads out. She's not their blood mother but she's already the mother. That's the emotional core of this whole arc and I'm just over here emotionally compromised.
I keep coming back to that one moment. Su Wanwan is fanning Pei Changfeng, talking to him about how hot it is, how she brought back eggs and chickens, how she'll never let him go hungry. She's being this incredibly tender, domestic, present wife—and she has no idea he's awake. Then her finger twitches. Just once. Just barely noticeable. That single physical detail carries more emotional weight than any declaration of love ever could. Because here's what it means: Pei Changfeng has been lying there, unable to move, probably feeling like the most useless person in the world, and this woman—who he presumably didn't choose, who was arranged into his life—is genuinely, quietly, exhaustively taking care of him. She's bruised from carrying heavy loads. She's sweating in the May heat. She's talking to him like he's a person, not a burden. And he hears it all. The emotional arc here is so subtle. There's no grand confession, no dramatic moment of recognition. Just a twitch. But that twitch is everything—it's the first crack in whatever wall Pei Changfeng had built around himself. He's been ill, he's been a cripple, he's been married off to a woman with a reputation for violence, and yet here she is, feeding him porridge and fanning him and worrying about whether he's too hot. And Su Wanwan? She's not performing. She's not doing any of this for show. She's just... doing it. That's what makes it hit so hard. The emotional truth of this scene is that love doesn't always arrive with fanfare. Sometimes it arrives as a woman in a Dudou fanning a man who can't move, talking about eggs like they're the most important thing in the world.
The same as their other stories. I wonder why Webnovel hasn't deleted the webnovel yet, even given it a contract. It clearly goes against the rules considering AI usage. And I quote: "Therefore, WebNovel explicitly states that we do not welcome AI-generated works in the following circumstances:Clearly using AI to plagiarize, mix, or splice other works.Clearly using AI for translation without the writer being able to prove the originality of the work.Using AI to fill word count, including inserting irrelevant content or lengthy, meaningless descriptions."
Wow ? Amazing everything about this novel is just interesting highly recommend
quite interesting to me, and quite curious about what will happen next. the world picture is ok. there's just no character introduction yet... (for now I'll just wait)
This novel is giving me a third person perspective about a life of a boy. And it's will really give us more understanding about the life of boy/man.
ohh this is getting good ??. I find myself wanting to read more. loving the story development ???
Speak of a story that has me hooked on the spot and I'll pick this one any day. This is a beautiful story. I want to read more. I want to see Odessa shine. I love her spirit. Not everyone can pull this off but dear author, you have proven you are a master with words.
So far I'm absolutely loving this novel. It can feel a bit rushed in the first couple chapters but evens out a lot more later on. I can't wait for more and I really hope this doesn't end up in the long list of great novels that end up dropped
"Hello, Author-kun here! Thanks for reading my book, and your opinions and suggestions are always welcome. Do give it a try! I’d rate this book a 5 because, well, I’m shameless, but you can’t expect me to rate my own book any lower. I really hope you enjoy it and decide to stick around for more chapters!"
