I need to talk about how the pacing in these chapters operates like a pressure cooker, and honestly, the author's control over tempo is impressive. The chapter opens almost lazily — heat, waking up, pouring water, topping up the electricity. These are slow, domestic beats. You're breathing along with the characters. Even the subway ride to Lu Fei's place has this unhurried quality, with You You pointing out concert posters and recounting her adventure. It feels like a slice-of-life interlude. Then Lu Fei offers the eight million, and the pacing QUICKENS. The transaction fails. One failure. Two. Five. The awkward silence. A Jiu's weak 'twenty-five thousand.' The tempo is accelerating now, each beat landing harder than the last. And then the scandal drops. This is where the author goes FULL THROTTLE. The Weibo hashtags appear like sirens — #BREAKING! #TRENDING! — and suddenly we're in crisis mode. A Jiu's phone clattering to the floor. You You scrambling off the couch. The locked door. The pounding. The screaming. What's brilliant is that the author never lets us exhale between these waves. The dream sequence with Wan Zuer acts as a brief respite — almost lulling us back into that slower rhythm — before the scandal shatters everything. And You You's realization that the dream woman and the drama actress are the SAME PERSON? That's the pivot point where the pacing shifts from external crisis to internal dread. The chapter structure itself mirrors the narrative: it starts wide and open, then compresses into a single locked door, and ends on a note of pure panic. There's no resolution, no breath, no 'and then everything was fine.' Just pounding fists and a child's voice breaking.
The pacing in these chapters is masterful. Let me break down why it works so well. Chapter 14 starts with immediate tension—Jiang Mei approaching the carriage in the snow, Bai Yi's hostile silence, the awkward climb into the carriage. The author doesn't waste time with exposition; we're dropped right into the confrontation. The carriage scene builds slowly: the dead silence, Jiang Mei's hesitant confession, the muffled cough that changes everything. When Pei Jingchuan reveals he's sick, the entire dynamic shifts. Jiang Mei goes from fearful supplicant to concerned caretaker, and that's when the feverish kiss happens. Boom. Just like that, the power dynamic flips again. Then Chapter 6 (Hiding Under the Table) starts with a location shift that feels like a breath of fresh air but immediately ramps up the stakes. Jiang Mei enters the courtyard and her mind starts racing with questions—when did he rent this? Did he know her shop was nearby? Was this planned? These internal questions keep the tension alive even as the physical action slows down for cooking scenes. The kitchen sequence is where the pacing really shines. It's domestic, almost mundane—chopping wood, lighting the stove, cooking porridge—but the author layers in so much character development through these simple actions. When Pei Jingchuan takes the axe from her and chops the wood himself, when he asks about her hands, when he carries the firewood into the kitchen—each small action reveals something about their relationship. And then the young lady arrives! Just as Jiang Mei thinks she might have a moment with Pei Jingchuan, BAM, new character enters with luxury food and clear romantic intentions. The author uses this interruption perfectly to raise the stakes and create that desperate need for Jiang Mei to hide under the table. The chapter ends on such a great note—Pei Jingchuan lifting the tablecloth to find her between his legs, the unfinished sentence 'I just wanted to see if the food s...' trailing off. I NEED to know what happens next.
"Bold, thrilling, and utterly addictive! ??"
This is a very good book. it has me hooked, and I can't wait for the next chapter. The originality, and creativity is top notch.Well done Author ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
J'adore le roman, en particulier sa construction du monde et ses personnages.
Very light spoilerAs of now this story only has 42 chapters, but each one is so good that you are dying to read the next one. The Author did a fantastic job at giving depth to the characters and world. This is partially done by showing the perspective of the parents, and shows that things are not always accepted as normal and get brushed off. P.S. Sorry if I have any grammar issus.
Loved how Oliver and Li Mao romance is growing stronger. It is a really catchy story, with great characters development and beautiful scenarios combining ancient but at the same time modern China.
Hey guys, It's my shameless 5 star review. And its my first novel too, so I guess that makes me even more shameless. Basically, MC will grind his powers, and it isn't cheat based or anything. No harem, that's for sure. Romance will be there, but not for MC, at least not anytime soon. As for the dark tag, it will come, but also, it ain't anytime soon. I don't know how long it will take for me to reach that point either, soo... Anyways, I think this novel will be decent, but it's you guys who decide whether it'll be good or not. So, might as well leave a review, eh?
i read 4 chapters and I liked it this far it's give me vibes like Tensura
For those who's first impression of the Aisuru Realm and this is the first story you read, this book takes place 20 years after Volume 2 of Luscious Ambition and is directly connected to another book, Valkyria Saga, so definitely read up on those if you like to get the backstory of the Savior Era of Earth or even the Valkyrie's story if you want! If you can bare with the horrendous update schedule, I hope you enjoy the story and more to come. If you like the story so far, maybe save it to your collection or maybe even leave a comment here and there telling me what you like or don't like? It'll really help out if you did and motivate me to continue on this journey. Artwork and music themes are on the way!
