The stakes in this section are absolutely sky-high, and I need to talk about how the author layers conflicts on top of each other to create this suffocating tension. On the personal level, Xia Xing'er is fighting for her family's survival. She knows they'll be confiscated and exiled in two days. She's trying to warn her parents, to find a way to change their fate. But she's also dealing with the emotional trauma of her divorce from Helian Zhi, who used his military merit to marry another woman instead of honoring her. That's a double betrayal—romantic and professional. On the political level, the stakes are even higher. Zhennan Wang commands 400,000 troops, including 50,000 elite Heijia soldiers who could fight one against a hundred. The emperor is deeply paranoid about his youngest brother's power. The late emperor entrusted the Heijia Army to Zhennan Wang, and now the current emperor sees it as a direct threat to his throne. The military tally Xuanyuan Yi brings to the emperor isn't just a piece of paper—it's the difference between peace and civil war. The emperor's marriage decree is a masterstroke of political conflict. By forcing Xia Xing'er to marry Zhennan Wang, he's trying to humiliate the war prince while simultaneously keeping him under surveillance in the capital. But he's also playing with fire—what if Zhennan Wang refuses? What if the marriage strengthens his political position instead of weakening it? And then there's the internal conflict within Zhennan Wang himself. He claims he has no interest in the throne, that his greatest wish is to travel the world. But he's willing to bring the military tally to the emperor as leverage for love. Is this genuine devotion, or is he calculating? The ambiguity keeps the tension alive. What makes this section so compelling is that every conflict is interconnected. The personal stakes (Xia Xing'er's happiness, her family's survival) are entangled with political stakes (the emperor's paranoia, Zhennan Wang's power). When one thread pulls, they all tighten. The author has created a web of conflict where there's no safe place for any character—and that's what makes it impossible to put down.
The pacing in chapters 60-67 is absolutely ruthless and I respect it. Let me walk through how the author builds this: Chapter 60-61 (the shopping trip): Slow, almost leisurely. We ride along with Qin Xiao and Qinghe. The donkey cart, the villagers' reactions, the pride in showing off the marriage certificate. It's warm. It's happy. The author is lulling us into a sense of security. Then Madam Qin appears. The transition is brutal—she's sorting soybeans, Aunt Pang drops the bomb about expensive goods, and suddenly we're sprinting toward conflict. The author doesn't give us a soft landing. One moment Madam Qin is hopeful about money, the next she's storming up the mountain path with her expression changing when she hears about silk. The confrontation itself is paced like a fight scene. Slap. Kick about to land. Qin Xiao moves. He catches Qinghe. He turns to face his mother. The villagers gather. Madam Qin performs. Elder Ge delivers the killing blow with one question. Each beat follows the next with almost no breathing room. What's brilliant is how the author uses the villagers as a pacing device. They start as background observers, then become a chorus, then become the jury that delivers the verdict. By the time Madam Qin realizes she's lost, the pace has shifted from explosive to suffocating—she's trapped by her own performance. And that ending? She puts on a stiff smile and steps closer to Qin Xiao, still eyeing the silk gauze. The tension doesn't resolve—it compresses. We know this isn't over. The softer approach is coming. And that cliffhanger feeling? Perfect.
Okay so I have to talk about how dramatically Xie Yushu has transformed since she transmigrated into this body, because honestly it's one of the most satisfying character shifts I've read in a while. The original owner was described as having "courage no greater than a clam's"—quiet, withdrawn, gloomy. She let people walk all over her, trusted the one person she had (Luo Qi), and ended up losing everything and dying alone. Then BAM, Xie Yushu shows up and immediately starts doing things differently. She's direct, she's sharp, she walks into the accounting office without knocking and sits down like she owns the place. The scene where Accountant Yang tries to mock her by emphasizing the word "Steward" like it's a joke—Xie Yushu just catches the sarcasm and pretends not to notice. That's not the original owner. That's someone who's been through hell and come out the other side with steel in her spine. And the Du Yinghua confrontation! Du Yinghua storms in expecting to yell at her, and Xie Yushu is just lounging in an armchair idly toying with a teacup like she's waiting for her. The role reversal is chef's kiss. I also loved the detail about the villagers noticing her change—her looks are described as almost more handsome than any village man's, and everyone's silently gasping at how different she seems. It's not just that she's prettier now, it's that her bearing has completely shifted. She walks with her head high instead of shrinking away. The original owner would have been too scared to even make eye contact with Accountant Yang, let alone demand her wages by name. This new Xie Yushu is someone I genuinely want to see win.
The stakes in this novel are astronomically high and the author makes sure we never forget it. Let's recap what everyone is fighting for: Yu Lin wants to marry Brother Hong to save her family from the treason accusation that killed 140 people in her previous life. If she fails, everyone dies again. The step-mother wants to use Yu Mu'an to curry favor with the General's household because the Marquis' family is in decline. Her survival depends on this marriage alliance. Consort Zhao just wants her daughter to be secure and wealthy. She's scared, desperate, and making emotional decisions. Yu Mu'an is playing the longest game. She needs to survive, she needs to avenge her mother, and she needs to figure out why she refused to speak about the jade pendant in her previous life. Xie Jinghong is caught in the middle - he loves Yu Lin but feels drawn to Yu Mu'an. His internal conflict is palpable. And Xie Jingyan? He just wants to protect Yu Mu'an. His stakes are personal, immediate, and pure. The murder that will happen in three days adds another layer of urgency. Yu Lin claims she knows about it as proof of her rebirth, but we don't know who will die or why. Is it connected to the treason accusation? Is it the catalyst for everything that goes wrong? What makes the conflict so compelling is that everyone has valid reasons for their actions. No one is purely evil - they're all trying to survive in a system that's rigged against them. The Marquis' household is in decline, the General's household has power but internal dysfunction, and the women in both families are pawns in a game they didn't choose. The tension is maintained perfectly because every scene raises the question: what happens if they fail?

A relatively standard novel, with decent English and some grammatical errors. The characters feel one-dimensional,. For example, the test examiner is just “hate”, with no apparent depth beyond that. The world building is very lackluster, about it we only know about the tests, and that is it, though that could be due to the early stage of the novel. The test itself, in fact, is completely detached from realism, with contradicting motives of its organisers and the random selections of only 5000 people/year, has the author forgotten there are over 8 billion humans on earth?
*** UPDATES AVAILABILITY ***Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for now.Hope to have you all reading this soon....Thank you if you already are...
As the author, I will obviously give it a 5 stars coz I love this genre xDAnd I am pretty sure I won't end up messing this up hahaEitherways, shoot any questions you may have!
I love the concept. And the story is very well thought throught out.The world building the crafting. if feels refresshing to read. The power scaling however can be confusing at times. But if you are looking for a good sci-fi novel this is the one.
I love this story, I wonder why I am reltateble about this story. But I like it. As a teenager of course we encounter some difficult situation but we need to fight even it is a hard time.
MAN, this novel is absolutely peak! I can guarantee it’s a hidden gem. Even though it only has around 50 chapters so far, the writing and plot are incredibly well done. The pacing can feel a bit slow at times, but overall, the storytelling is top-notch. If the author had continued uploading, this novel had the potential to reach a whole new level. Unfortunately, it has been over a month since the last update, and I have no idea why Aquetus stopped. Now, let’s talk about what makes this novel stand out. Right from the start, it does something I’ve never seen before, it introduces the female lead first, even though this is a male-oriented novel. But make no mistake, this is not a female lead story. The protagonist doesn’t even appear until around chapter 20, and I was genuinely shocked. I even thought the author had forgotten to introduce him! But once I kept reading, everything clicked, and I realized how brilliantly executed this was. This isn’t your typical story where the main character starts weak and works his way up. No, the MC, Zhuo is portrayed as a god-level figure, completely shrouded in mystery. The author hasn’t revealed any of his powers or even much about his actions, keeping readers constantly intrigued. The world-building is also fantastic, featuring gods, angels, outer beings, and many other powerful entities. But what I love the most is how the villains are on a completely different level. They’re not the usual arrogant awakeners or cliche bad guys. In fact, one of the major villains is introduced before chapter 30, which sets the stage for some truly intense conflicts. The fight scenes, in particular, gave me a slight Lord of the Mysteries vibe. While the novel doesn’t dive deep into historical research like some top-tier masterpieces, it still feels refreshingly unique. Apart from a few moments in the beginning, there’s nothing cliché about this story. And let’s talk about the system revelation easily one of the best parts. I won’t spoil anything, but trust me, this isn’t like any other system novel you’ve read. The way it unfolds is absolutely mind-blowing.I really don’t understand why this novel hasn’t been contracted yet. I just hope the author continues uploading because I’m eagerly waiting for more chapters!
Dear author, please publish more chapters daily. story development seems slow. I want to know overall development faster. Suggestion: update at least 2 chapters daily or a long chapter.
