I need to process what I just read. Chu Zhaoxun resurrects a man. With a BEAD. A literal magic bead from a cultivation sect. And then the next scene is about her cat Qilin eating freshly steamed fish while everyone else is chewing on dry bread like it's some kind of blessing. "Are cats living better than us these days?!" I said exactly this out loud. My roommate looked at me like I was crazy. But hear me out—this is actually brilliant emotional storytelling disguised as comedy. The contrast between the apocalyptic harshness (Su Jin finishing her bread "amongst the aroma of the food" but not daring to ask for any, Wang Peng almost crying over the smell of meat) and Chu Zhaoxun's spoiled-young-miss energy creates this weird emotional whiplash. Part of me wants to yell at her for being so wasteful. Part of me is just glad someone in this story is eating well. But then—Lou Lihan's soul. "Xiaoxun, I know you can't accept that I've passed away, but I really am dead. Don't waste your resources; keep them for yourself." He's HAPPY that she has abilities now. He's worried about HER survival, not his own. And he has no idea she's literally rebuilding his body right now. That moment where his soul is "gradually becoming solid" while he thinks he's being selfless? That's the kind of emotional gut-punch that makes you immediately re-read the passage. The author is playing with our hearts like a violin and I am HERE for it.
The sensory details in this book are doing SO much heavy lifting and I need to talk about it. Opening image: Ruan Zheng opens her eyes, reaches up to steady herself, and finds her hand covered in blood. That's it. That's the hook. You don't need to know what happened yet — the blood is enough to make you keep reading. Then there's the village setting. The thatched hut, the cold floor, Wang Jinbao crying and kicking his legs like a tantrum-throwing child despite being forty-something. The image of him with drool running down his chin while shouting about having babies is simultaneously horrifying and almost absurdly dark-comedy. The author balances the horror with these moments of grotesque realism that make the world feel lived-in. And the journey sequence — Ruan Zheng walking until her legs feel like lead, vision darkening, then sneaking into a house and ending up in the back of an ox cart. The driver hands her a piece of flatbread that's "dry and hard" but she forces herself to swallow it. These small details — the dry bread, the slow cart ride from morning to dusk — they ground the story in a physical reality that makes the transmigration feel less like fantasy and more like survival. The contrast between the filthy village and the military compound where Zheng Xiujie lives is also doing a lot of work. One place is about poverty and desperation, the other is about appearances and status. Ruan Zheng moves between them and the world feels real because of these sharp contrasts.

The story is seriously giving ?, It's better than I imagined, it's only the first two episodes but ,the story is better than any vampire story I've ever read ❤️I'm not really a fan of vampire stories but this is the perfect blend of vampire and humans ,the expected facial expression and everything. This is my new best vampire story.
I don't understand why there are so many chapters out in another language but here, it hasn't been updated since 6 months?
I love your stories, very interesting and educative ?
~30~ Chapters review. Why should you start reading this book? Because it's great of course! More seriously, I've read the other books of our dear author, but this one is the best.
I love this book. Full of mystery and thrill, a good and romantic thrill. It's not your ordinary love story but an exciting one. I am excited to see how things will unfold for Layla. Waiting for more chapters!
