I want to talk about dialogue because this section has some of the most devastatingly simple lines I've read in a long time. Let's start with Jiang Mian's speech pattern. He stammers. He hesitates. His sentences are fragmented: "Young Master... killed my... good... good friends." "Jiang Mian is sad, stomach... stomach doesn't want to eat." This isn't just a quirk — it's character. This is a boy who has spent years in isolation, who barely has the vocabulary or the confidence to express himself. When he does speak, it's raw and unpolished and absolutely heartbreaking. And then there's the nickname scene. This is where the dialogue does the most work in the entire passage: "Young Master, why... why did you... call me... Mian... Mian?" Shi Jinnian: "…" "I'm bored." The silence after "Mian Mian" — that single line of dialogue that is just an ellipsis — is one of the most powerful moments in this entire section. Shi Jinnian doesn't have an answer. He can't explain why he used a nickname that no one else has ever used. And when he says "I'm bored," it's not just dismissive — it's defensive. He's protecting himself from the fact that something shifted in that moment. Jiang Mian's response is equally devastating: "No one had ever called him that before. Mian Mian, strange yet somewhat likable. He didn't want to talk to the Young Master anymore." The subtext here is enormous. Shi Jinnian gave him something tender and then immediately took it away by calling it boredom. That's the pattern between them — moments of genuine connection followed by emotional retreat. The other dialogue that stands out is the club scene banter with Shen Qingci and Gu Linfeng. It's sharp, fast, and feels like real friendship. "Did you get a dog?" "Yeah, taking it back to feed a pet." This shows us that Shi Jinnian CAN have normal conversations, CAN be warm and joking — but only in certain contexts. With Jiang Mian, every word is loaded with something unsaid. The author's dialogue writing is restrained but incredibly precise. Every line does double or triple duty.
Can we just talk about Su Han for a second because the man does not say much but EVERYTHING he does is loaded. He saw Wen Lan kill that tiger, he saw her flowerpot bloom, and his response was basically... nothing. Just a calm "You're stronger than I expected" like he wasn't internally recalibrating his entire understanding of her. But then - and this is the part that got me - when Zhou Feng showed up and started stepping toward Wen Lan, the narrative literally says Su Han looked at him "as though he were already a dead man" and was "even angrier than Wen Che." Wen Che is her BROTHER who has unresolved score from before. Su Han has literally known her for what, a few days? And yet his reaction was more violent than family. I keep thinking about that brief moment when he looked at her and she thought she saw "concern flash through his eyes" before he masked it. The author never confirms whether she imagined it or not, which makes it infinitely more interesting. And then there's the Fo-Ti itself - this plant that literally bonds with her through blood, senses her emotions, protects her, and the twins inside her are feeding off its vitality. That's basically the most intense symbiotic relationship ever and it's happening WHILE she's carrying children. The emotional core of this story isn't just survival, it's about what we nurture and what nurtures us in return.
This is the kind of pacing that makes you lose track of time. The chapters move from the confrontation with Yan Heng and the woman, to bringing her to the Yan estate, to the family gathering where everything gets laid bare - and it all flows naturally. No filler, no dragging scenes. Each moment builds on the last like dominoes falling. What I appreciate most is how the author controls the tension. The opening scene is explosive - Zhou Yunruo confronting Yan Heng, his panicked lies, the woman crying on the ground. Then it shifts to the carriage ride, a brief pause, before the real drama unfolds at the Yan residence. The mother-in-law's entrance is perfectly timed - she arrives 'like the wind' and immediately starts slapping, creating this chaotic energy that then gets contained when Mother Yan orders the main gate closed. The pacing of the family confrontation is especially well done. First the mother-in-law tries to play peacemaker, then reveals her true colors when money is discussed. Zhou Yunruo's refusal to pay is the turning point - she's not backing down anymore. The scene where she lists all the expenses, counting on her fingers, is both funny and satisfying. It's like watching someone finally speak truth to power and the power has no response. The chapter ends on a note that makes you want to keep reading immediately. Yan Heng is frustrated, Zhou Yunruo is calm, the woman is trapped in the household, and the mother-in-law's true nature is exposed. Every subplot is advancing, every character is revealing themselves, and the reader is left wanting more. The author clearly knows how to build and release tension in just the right amounts.
I really recommend this story to new readers like me who are overwhelmed by novels and books with a really high page count. Black exorcist x shows us that a great novel doesn't need to be hundreds of pages long. The story and the characters are absolute perfection, you can tell the writer really out alot of effort into this book. I really liked it and highly recommend it, it has become one of my favorite novels of all time because of its interesting story.
This is a really good book so far it’s usually not my style but a really good book to sit down and read when I’m not to busy throughout the day.
Shameless author rating.Just for fun...............................................................................................................................
Whoa! new characters? I'm loving this story more and more. Will Haggard Barrass be the Archimage of the Sisterhood? More chapters Author. More!
I don’t really no what to say. I stopped on chapter 6 because it went from before the Mikaelsons became the Original Vampires to present day New Orleans with no explanation on a time skip. It’s as if chapters are missing which led to my confusion on what is even going on.
I was pleasantly surprised with this novel. Unique plot. I've never read a story about bees before. Author has a great sense of humor. Extra points for that. If I had the money, I would instantly pay to unlock all the remaining chapters and acquire Privilege chapters too. I like the fact that the MC is no overly OP, he's just a normal man, with reasonable amount of knowledge, with reasonable powers. Sometimes I feel really frustrated by how stronger some enemies are compared to the bees. But it's just because I hate losing hahaha. Keep up the good work, author. Up until the last free chapter the story was almost perfect. At least in my opinion ?
Right, the first 10+ Chapters were so STUPID, CRINGE, FORCED, and LAME.The Guards' behaviour & reaction, the girl action to the MC, the old healer behaviour, the conflict, everything is so forced and stupid. THE MC haven't shown up yet after the first chapter.it gets better. But that beginning is too horrible. i'm the 'first 10 Chapters guy', and those chapters are 3 star almost 2.
I like the story and the characters. I like how the author placed the scenes and how it makes me wanna be living in the book myself.
Ok, llevo 29 capítulos y lo recomiendo profundamente, me encanta como se están desarrollando la situaciones y como se manejan
