This novel genuinely took me by surprise after diving into the manhwa and discovering the story compelling enough to continue with the novel.
What impressed me the most was the vocabulary employed by the author (and the translation team). The writing was truly exceptional. The dialogues were masterfully crafted, and I could grasp every nuance the author intended. For this reason alone, I highly recommend reading this novel.
The story itself is incredibly intricate and clearly well-researched. Each character is fascinating, and I found myself fond of many of them, even remembering their names despite the sizable cast. I ended up binge-reading the entire novel in one night due to my deep investment in the plot. One aspect I particularly appreciated, compared to other novels I've read, is that the political dimensions of the arranged marriage are not overlooked. Instead, they frequently resurface, reminding us that—well, these characters aren't going to have an easy time, are they?
Joking aside, I also admired the seamless transitions between points of view, which could have been confusing but were anything but. It kept me engaged with every character without explicitly stating whose perspective we were following at any given moment. The complexity of each character only added to the experience. I haven't felt bored reading from any character's point of view yet; in fact, I often found myself looking forward to encountering these characters again.
In summary, this novel boasts great writing, rich characters, and a captivating plot.
This novel appears to be a sweet and beautiful love story, but it's actually filled with intense suffering and world despair. I really like it because the main character is a singer who can perform war songs to boost morale. This is the second main character I've grown fond of; Yan Mo from "Banished of the Primitive" can dance to uplift war morale, while this one sings.
It deeply saddens me to witness unfavorable comments about this exceptional gem of a novel. Among all contemporary light-hearted romance novels I've come across, this one stands out as sheer gold - an incredibly rare find indeed. The storytelling was both hilarious and heartwarming, leaving me wanting more. I must commend the author for their maturity and intelligence; their writing has even inspired me to quote Bai's lines for educational purposes. The narrative never failed to captivate me, keeping me engaged throughout. I fervently hope for more novels like this in the future. A perfect 100 out of 100.
