Let's talk about atmosphere, because this author knows how to paint a scene and I am obsessed. The opening image of Su Lingwei on that third-floor balcony—wrapped in a black blanket, red hair damp, crystal in hand, moonlight bathing her face in soft white glow—this is cinematic. I could literally see this as a film. The contrast between the cold moonlight and her warm red hair, the empty wine bottles beside her, the way she's curled up like she's trying to make herself small... it's haunting. And then the orphanage. The shift in tone is brutal. One moment you're in this gothic, intimate space with vampires and moonlight, and the next you're in a 'somewhat run-down' orphanage with children running around like joyful little spirits. The author makes you fall in love with this place—the large tree, the yard where Qiu Qiu was eating breakfast, the familiar warmth of Lu Qing being 'king of the kids.' And then it all gets taken away. The scene where Lu Qing stands alone in the orphanage as the sun sets is one of the most powerful images I've read this year. 'An overwhelming cold began to spread slowly through the yard. As the sun gradually sank in the west, the chilling aura grew stronger, and the air was filled with a sickly-sweet smell of blood.' The sensory details here are incredible. You can FEEL the temperature dropping. You can SMELL the blood. The world itself is reacting to his rage. The vampire worldbuilding is also subtly woven throughout—the coffin practice, the bloodthirsty day cycle, the hierarchy of Blood Thralls to Barons to Viscounts to Counts. It feels lived-in and real, not just decorative.
Let me just say — the pacing in these chapters is absolutely relentless and I cannot breathe. Chapter 8 starts with Ye Junfei demanding she take responsibility, then escalates to him discovering her weapons, then Jiang Xinrou knocking at the door, then Ye Junfei whispering threats in her ear while Jiang Xinrou waits outside... and by Chapter 10, Lin Xiuyan has completely turned the tables on both Jiang Xinrou AND Zhou Chenyang in one brilliant public scene. The author knows exactly when to slow down and when to accelerate. The Liannu scene — ten arrows firing, Ye Junfei's expression changing — that's a moment that breathes. You feel the weight of it. But then Jiang Xinrou is sobbing outside the door, Lin Xiuyan is snapping "Then go die!" and suddenly we're in this chaotic, breathless sequence where three people are performing for each other through a wooden door. And the payoff? Chapter 10 is pure satisfaction. Lin Xiuyan publicly humiliates Jiang Xinrou by taking credit for her scheme, pins the blame on her, and even winks at her cousin while doing it. The shift from victim to strategist happens so smoothly across these chapters that you barely notice her transformation — until she's already won. The cliffhanger with Zhou Chenyang's frosty eyes at Jiang Xinrou? Perfect. I need the next chapter NOW.
The pacing in this section is absolutely masterful and I need to unpack why. It starts so domestic — cooking soup, kids splashing in the courtyard, Honghua burning her mouth on hot broth. This is the kind of scene that could easily be filler in a lesser novel. But the author uses it as a pressure valve, letting us breathe before the real tension hits. Honghua's impatience mirrors the reader's — we're eager, hungry, and the soup being too hot is almost a metaphor for the family's situation: everything is ready but they can't consume it without getting burned. Then Father Nie arrives and the scene shifts. The gender separation detail, the description of his worn hands — these are small moments that build the world without slowing anything down. The dinner conversation starts mundane, then Qinghe drops the education bomb and suddenly we're in completely different territory. What's brilliant is how the flashback to Old Madam Nie's history is woven in. It doesn't feel like an info-dump because it's triggered organically — Qinghe thinks about her grandmother when Father Nie mentions her, and then the narrative follows that thread. The history of the family division, the apprenticeship, the exploitation — it all comes out through Qinghe's analytical mind, not through exposition. The chapter ends on that cliffhanger with Old Madam Nie demanding one tael and two hundred coins monthly, and Lady Liu reluctantly agreeing. We're left hanging, and the next chapter better deliver because the tension is at a breaking point. The author knows exactly when to tighten the screw.
I like the first two chapters of the story; they really pique my interest, the MC is quite likable, and his emotions feel real. However, once he traversed into another world, his arrogance skyrocketed. The story is unique but too fast-paced; having a rebellion in just two chapters at most felt somewhat lacking. If I may suggest, try to explore your characters deeper; give them a background and their goals. Consider them your creations and let your readers have a proper understanding of the world. Do not just rely on MC reading thoughts. And I would like to ask the author, will the MC return to his previous world? I'm more interested in that than his current world.
As a fan, reading this novel for the first time was a huge blow to me - the whole thing is perfect! I'll post 4 chapters every day. Since the first volume is equivalent to Season 1, you can also watch it on Loklok (which has nice quality) or other platforms. Additionally, you can watch Season 2 as an anime, which is why I wanted to rush through the chapters, hehe.WARNING: This is indeed a copy, and the original writer is Rifujin na Magonote.
it's typically thesame thing with the lather
Your novel has potential, though there are only 3 chapters for now, I hope you can upload more soon, I would definitely recommend it to anyone.....
Reading is not my type but when i discovered this novel it makes me want to read more!!. My first impression while reading this novel reminds me of the anime Solo leveling, but this novel is more interesting.
This novel is very wonderful, I advise you to read it ??
So far, the story has been amazing. I dare say it's a masterpiece. The pace of the plot is admirable and the characters are solid. The cliffhanger in each chapter makes this book very much fascinating.
Can someone explain to me why such good stories have to be wasted by trash MCs???
Finally this great friend published his second novel, I read the outline of this man's story and I really recommend it, the story will be quite good, I am a friend of this writing and he gave me access to advance chapters and it is quite good 100% recommendable.
