Frost16
Okay so I need to talk about Lin Xiazhi's power shift in this section because it is genuinely satisfying to watch. Remember how Wang Chuntao was treating her before? Like she was nobody's servant? Well, look at this scene where Wang Chuntao comes waddling in with both arms in slings and immediately starts eyeing the wild game like she owns it. And Lin Xiazhi just—snatches the chicken from Qingbei's hands and tosses it at her like, "Here, cook this. And if you steal even a bite, I'll remove your jawbone." The sheer audacity of it. I literally laughed out loud. But what really got me is how she frames it for Qingbei afterward. She doesn't just assert dominance for the sake of it. She actually explains the new hierarchy to him: "From now on, we're the masters of this house. The Chen family are the servants." And Qingbei's reaction—his eyes going wide like he's hearing this for the first time—tells you everything about how much the original owner must have suffered in this body. This girl has been carrying around so much trauma and she's only just now being told that she's allowed to be the boss. And then there's Mu Zheng. Oh man. The way Lin Xiazhi thinks about him when she passes his house—"She didn't like owing people favors"—and then she goes on this whole internal monologue about fixing his leg. She examined his injury, figured out the problem, and decided she'd handle it. That's not just gratitude, that's her love language. She shows care through action, not words. And the fact that she brushes past him saying "Thank you. To repay the favor, I'll fix your leg" and just disappears into the crowd? That is such a Lin Xiazhi moment. She's not going to sit around having some tender conversation. She's going to fix his leg and call it even. Classic. Also, the Lin Er scene. When he calls Qingbei a "little bastard" and Lin Xiazhi just—cracks his rib. No warning, no drama, just immediate consequences. And Lin Er's own brother Lin San is standing there completely frozen. That's the thing about Lin Xiazhi, she doesn't play games with people who threaten her family. The Chen family better start figuring out their place because she is not negotiating.
I need to talk about the bath scene. I need to talk about it RIGHT NOW. So Luo Ran is massaging Chu Jin's head, right? And she's leaning in to look at that tiny mole on his chin, and he just... opens his eyes. Face to face. And the text says her 'legs went weak.' And then she tries to pull away and he grabs her wrist and she SLIPS into the bathtub. With him. I literally gasped out loud. This is the most tense, charged, almost-romantic scene I've read in forever and the author just lets it happen like it's completely normal. And then—AND THEN—she's sitting on his lap, wet clothes pressed against each other, and she can feel his 'sturdy thighs and firm, scorching muscles.' She puts her hand on his chest and feels his heartbeat. His HEARTBEAT. Through fabric. Through water. And what does Chu Jin do? He looks at her with this completely composed expression and says 'When did I ever pull you?' Like he didn't do anything. Like he's not sitting in a bathtub with a woman straddling his lap. And Luo Ran starts doubting herself! She's like 'maybe I remembered wrong, maybe my clothes caught on something' and she's APOLOGIZING to him for falling into his bath. I was so mad at her for apologizing but also so sympathetic because she's so flustered and overwhelmed. And Chu Jin? He's still holding her waist. He hasn't let go. The text says 'the hands around her waist were still gripping tightly, showing no intention of letting go.' The emotional whiplash in this scene is incredible. You've got Luo Ran panicking, apologizing, doubting herself, and Chu Jin being this calm, unreadable presence who's clearly affected but won't show it. And the physical proximity, the wet clothes, the heartbeat, the grip on her waist—it's all so charged. I re-read that part three times. Three times. The way the author builds the tension is just... chef's kiss. Every detail matters. The scalding water, the thin clothing, the way Luo Ran can feel his muscles through the fabric, the way Chu Jin's grip tightens when she tries to pull away. And then the chapter just ends mid-sentence with 'his gaze traveling from her damp brows and eyes downward, sweeping over the curves made even more delicate by the wet clothing, fi'—I swear to god if the author doesn't continue this scene properly I will lose my mind.
I can't stop reading this masterpiece at all. Every page is so engaging
I love everything about this book—the cover, the synopsis, the chapters, and the characters. If somebody is conflicted about whether to read it or not, just remember, it's a hit or a miss. And author san, looking forward to character development, mountain of chapters and... u know what I mean, ahem
Nice book, i just started my own novel Eternal Crowns:The Five Nations, pls check it out and tell me what you think
This is actually pretty cool, it’s well planned out and from the time of my review (at chapter 17), im really starting to get into the flow of this book. To anyone reading my review i hooe you enjoy this as much as i have.
This is my first review, so I’m not sure how well I’ll do.The best aspects of the story are its plot and grammar. I find it very original, although it starts off a bit slow since there isn’t much action in the first few chapters. However, that doesn’t bother me too much because, in return, we get to see the introduction of characters and the development of the MC.As for world-building, it doesn’t introduce too much, at least at the beginning, but it gives us small glimpses to help us get oriented, which is a plus for me. I don’t like info dumps.I recommend reading the first 20 chapters before forming a conclusion about the novel.Thank you very much, author! Keep it up.
Love the book honestly. A great Read, Keep up the good work Author. When will the next chapter be out tho ?
