I need to talk about the contrast between these two scenes because the author is doing something really sharp here. Upstairs: Ning Yichu just woke up, weak, bandaged, in bed. He Shixia is gently helping him change clothes. There's this raw intimacy—even though they're about to divorce, even though Ning Yichu is cold, He Shixia still remembers to bring him a light jacket because the air conditioning is too cold. The injuries on his own neck from when Ning Yichu bit him two days ago. The bruise on his brow bone. These physical marks are like a timeline of their relationship written on skin. Downstairs: afternoon tea, wine glasses, the whole He family assembled like vultures. He Rulin swirling his wine like he's in some corrupt dynasty drama. He Grandmother sitting at the head of the table, the married-in He Grandfather silent, the uncle with six illegitimate children casually mentioned like it's nothing. The worldbuilding here is so efficient. We learn the He family structure in one paragraph—grandparents, one son (He Shixia's dad who married in), one daughter, and then the uncle's chaotic branch with six kids. It tells us everything about power dynamics. He Shixia is the only one who got shares when he came of age. The rest got nothing. That's why they're all so obsessed with the share transfer. And the atmosphere! Early September heat outside but freezing air conditioning inside. Ning Yichu sensitive to cold. The old residence feeling both luxurious and suffocating. I could literally feel the temperature contrast and it mirrored the emotional temperature—He Shixia trying to be warm, Ning Yichu feeling cold, the family downstairs feeling like a den of snakes. The author doesn't over-describe. Just enough to make you see it. Like He Rulin holding a wine glass during afternoon tea. That one detail says everything about his character.

Hey everyone,I am the writer and I think I did an excellent job so ya I deserve my stars. The writing quality is top notch as expected of me. I don't update too often cause I'm lazy. Story development is something that will definitely turn you into an addict. Character design is elite as I use real life reference to create them. World Background is so breath-taking that you will forget reality.
The writing quality is very good, story development goes beyond words. Your character design and world background is something that outclassed so many others. Keep up the good work

Todays Date: 02/25/2025Chapter Reached: 48Score: 5 StarsA very nice novel from a household name (for this site). I recommend giving it a try. My Comments:I am glad to have found this book early. I am also surprised the author is writing a second novel after starting another. In the end I am glad he did so. It feels like a very well made product that becomes more and more interesting the more you think about how the author ended up creating this world and how it feels reading it. I would say that the author made another novel that I would consider to be a mile stone in how ideas can come together to be made into a novel (for at least this site). This is a VERY broad statement so don't take this as me being overly positive. Their are parts of the multi layered feeling I get from reading this novel that are very unique, with unique being one of the best ways to describe those particular feelings / mental perceptions. It is still very early on but I am going to be keeping a close eye on this. The author seems to have taken the time to think deeply about everything in many different ways and it shows. I might not be the biggest fan of the romance being this early in the novel. I would have liked to see a bit more details about the power system instead. This is my personal preference.
