I need to talk about how the author manages to raise the stakes in every single scene without making it feel forced or melodramatic. Let's start with the Zhou Shanshan confrontation. On the surface, it's about ten yuan. That's it. Ten yuan. But the author makes it feel like the most important conversation in the world because she layers the stakes. First, there's the money—Song Wanyue needs it for her survival. Then there's the betrayal—Zhou Shanshan stole her friendship, her reputation, and tried to steal her future. Then there's the secret—the unwed pregnancy that could destroy Zhou Shanshan's life. Each revelation raises the stakes higher. By the time Song Wanyue says 'I learned it from you. I have to say, the trick works well,' the reader understands that this isn't just about money anymore. It's about justice. It's about the original host finally getting the protection she never had. And then you pivot to the Gu family, where the stakes are even higher. This isn't just a family argument—this is a fight for survival. Gu Weimin has lost his position as brigade leader, which means he's lost his power, his income, his status. Now he's trying to force his adult sons to give up their share of the property so he can live with his mistress and her children. The sons aren't just fighting for money—they're fighting for shelter. 'Where do you expect us to go? This is my home.' That line hits because it's true. In this era, if you don't have a house, you don't have a life. Zhang Shufen's dramatic collapse adds another layer of stakes—she's not just throwing a tantrum, she's using her body as a weapon. By faking a near-death experience, she's forcing the family to intervene, buying time for her husband to scheme. The conflict here is multi-layered: husband vs. wife, father vs. sons, legitimate vs. illegitimate children, tradition vs. ambition. And through it all, Song Wanyue is this outside force who sees everything clearly. She's not involved in the Gu family drama, but she's using it to her advantage. The stakes for her are different—she's not fighting for property or reputation, she's fighting for her future. She needs to complete her tasks, build her funds, and return to the city. Every yuan she collects, every secret she uncovers, is a step toward that goal. What makes the conflict so compelling is that the author never lets you forget what's at stake. When Song Wanyue walks away from Zhou Shanshan and thinks about making chicken soup, it's not a trivial detail—it's a reminder that survival is always the baseline conflict. In this world, if you're not careful, you starve. You lose your reputation. You lose your home. And Song Wanyue has seen all of that happen to the original host. She's not just fighting for herself—she's fighting for the ghost of the girl who trusted the wrong person.
I need to talk about how this chapter flows because honestly? The author understands rhythm better than most web novel writers I've read. Let me break it down. The chapter opens with Lin Wan already having won the literacy contest. We don't see the buildup—we drop into the aftermath with cheers and Lu Zhengjin blustering about her being prepared. That's a smart choice. It means we're not waiting through the contest to get to the good stuff. The actual contest happened in the previous chapter, and we're already moving forward. Then comes the Lu Zhengting reveal. The narrative pulls back for a moment—we're at the Wiliu Brigade Headquarters, watching him do pull-ups, fighting numbness in his legs. This is a brief pause, a breath, before the emotional climax. And then Lu Zhengheng comes running, waving wildly, and we're back into motion. The scene transitions from the quiet solitude of exercise to the chaotic energy of the crowd, and the pacing never drags. What's brilliant is the competition setup. Instead of resolving the conflict, the author raises the stakes. Lu Zhengjin proposes Doctor Jin examine Lin Wan. Doctor Jin suggests fair competition. They agree on a week-long delay with a proper contest. This is how you maintain tension—you don't let the protagonist win too easily. The reader thinks: okay, she won this round, but the real test is coming. And now we're waiting, which means we're engaged. The walk home with Lu Zhengting is the emotional counterpoint to all this political maneuvering. It's quiet, intimate, and it slows the pace deliberately. The boiled egg detail, the notepad exchange, her proposal to cure him, his cold rejection—it's a complete emotional arc in miniature. And then the chapter ends with Old Madam Lu beating Mingliang, which is both a tonal shift and a hook. You want to keep reading to see what happens next. That's proper chapter structure.
This story has everything—thrilling action, heartwarming romance, and an intriguing mystery. Can't wait for more. The characters feel so real, and the plot is full of surprises. This deserves more attention
An overpowered anti-hero with mystery and action? This is exactly what I neededThe MC is an absolute beast! Watching him dominate is so satisfying!""I love how the mystery slowly unfolds while the MC crushes everyone in his path!"
So far, it's brilliant, glad to see you writing a new novel and wish it gets the recognition it deserves, couldn't read further because of work, but I look forward to the train home. The MC is great so far, very relatable.
Nice. I love the story but I can't say much since I'm still reading. Just wanted to say this book is a nice read
This is a good story to read. A human who is trying to take revenge against the gods for his family's death.
Thank you for Visiting This Humble Place.WELCOME!
Was promising at first then just turned into obviously Ai generated slop
Hey, the name's Irrelevant. This started as a side project but has quickly taken all of my focus. It started as a smut novel but has developed into a much more exciting novel. I plan to take it to completion and look forward to seeing more of you indulging in my work. Please let me know how it is going, I thrive on your interaction, even if you have constructive, and possibly hurtful things to say. I need to know how to better my writing.I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.
This book is the BOOK. Don't just take my word for it. Read it.At first from the book title, I had doubts that the book was going to be good. Seemed generic, maybe harem based and all that but Nooooooo. It was different. I am crying while writing this so I might make some grammatical mistakes. The book takes us through the life of Malik, the Sultan. Malik is a very misunderstood person. Now, he isn't some edgy character that just chooses to not clarify the situation properly but the situation he gets into at times forces that to be impossible almost. He tries and God, he really tries his best to explain but mehn ?? In fact, just read it. You might cry tho. It is emotional, a good character, good side characters. and much more. If the book isn't free by the time you read it, pay for it. it's worth paying for. And finally, thank you so much dear author. You will forever be in my memory for this beauty of a book. ✌️
