"For an ordinary family, having a doctor among them is like a blessing from the ancestors." I need to just sit with that line for a second. That's not just dialogue—that's the entire emotional weight of Yun Zhou compressed into one sentence. These people have been suffering in silence for generations. A night illness meant death. Now someone is offering to teach them basic medicine, to leave behind a doctor who will stay. The village chief nearly cried when Zhang Hu told him about the princess's vision: "the young are nurtured, the elderly are cared for, and the sick receive treatment." And then there's the mother at the tavern. "My little radish—Little Radish, open your eyes and look at your mother one more time." I literally had to pause the chapter. That raw, desperate grief in a public street, the crowd murmuring, the sheer helplessness of it all. It's one thing to read about suffering in a distant land—it's another to hear a mother beg her dying child to look at her one more time. But here's what got me—the contrast. Right after that heart-wrenching scene, the two physicians descend like angels of mercy. Their movements are "precise and coordinated," the crowd falls silent in awe, and when the girl's hand twitches, Imperial Physician Yu smiles. That smile! After all that dread, that one small smile from a man who just saved a child's life—it's so understated but so powerful. And Zhang Hu's moment with the village chief, his eyes growing warm as he promises better days ahead. These aren't grand romantic gestures or dramatic confessions. They're quiet, human moments of connection between people who see suffering and choose to act. That's the emotional core of this whole arc—benevolence as an active force, not just a feeling. The princess herself is fascinating emotionally too. She mutters to herself about cotton and Huang Daopo and corn, her mind racing with possibilities, then suddenly her eyes light up: "That's right, there's also wool!" She's not just a ruler implementing policy—she's a person whose passion is so genuine it's almost contagious. You can feel her excitement, her frustration, her relentless drive to fix everything. I keep coming back to that image of the mother and Little Radish. It haunts me. Why does fiction do this to me?
"Dudu, do you think Mommy and Daddy will still remember You You?" — I literally had to put the book down for a second. This three-year-old is standing in an unfamiliar world, her father has literally told her she's a liar, and her only emotional anchor is a plush shark pillow that can't even talk back. The loneliness of that moment is so sharp. And then the way she clings to Dudu throughout — talking to it, asking it to replay the holographic movie, just wanting some kind of conversation — it's heartbreaking because we know this child is carrying adult-level fear and responsibility on tiny shoulders. She's not acting like a normal three-year-old at all. She's hyper-vigilant, polite to a fault, trying not to disturb anyone. That's not childhood behavior, that's trauma response. The sibling dynamic is where this book really shines emotionally though. You You's determination to protect Lu Fei even though HE doesn't like her? Even though he called her a liar and showed her nothing but disdain? She doesn't care. "As long as she liked her brother, that was enough." That line hit me so hard. It's this pure, unconditional love that exists completely independent of whether it's reciprocated. And Lu Fei — don't get me wrong, he's being pretty rough on her — but the moment he notices her pale face and clutching her stomach and CALLS A JIU BACK INSTEAD OF IGNOREING HER? That's the crack in his armor. He pretends he doesn't care but his actions say otherwise. I'm already shipping the sibling bond so hard even though it's not romantic at all. Just pure family love and I'm here for it.
Omg omg omg!!! This book??? SCREAMING I swear I started reading just to check out the first few pages and then BOOM it was 3 AM and I was in too deep. ??Colin is SUCH a baby, like this soft, serious doctor trying to mind his own business, but then Brad shows up being all chaotic and hot and impossible to ignore. And the tension??? INSANE. Every time they were in the same room I was just holding my breath like ???.I thought it would be a cute small-town romance (and it IS), but also the emotions?? The PINING??? Ugh, I wanted to shake them both. Colin is convinced Brad is straight, Brad is... well, Brad, and I was just here like “KISS ALREADY.” ??Anyway, 10/10, I'm waiting with bated breath to see what happens next. If you love bad boys with secret feelings and awkward doctors trying to resist them (and failing spectacularly, I hope), READ THIS. You can thank me later. ?
So I’m going to be honest I’m probably not qualified to judge the writing. Or the story’s quality for that matter. I’m a student and my first language isn’t English. What I can say is that this is the best story i’ve seen on this site, and If you click on my profile you’ll see that I’ve been searching. I like the concept for the story, and the world building is better than probably any other book I’ve read here. Though i’m not confident about that quite yet. If you’re bored of reading wish fulfillment, you could give this a try. It has a lot if simultarities, but it mixes in some existential dread. And the world building leaves a lot of room to speculate, making it appear more realistic. I’m not entirely happy about the main character. He doesn’t quite act his age. Or something feels a bit off. Though thinking now I can’t quite figure out what it is. Anyways this is the first review I’ve written, and it’s because I truly think a lot of people on this site would enjoy the book. I haven’t read far yet (chapter 14), but it seems really promising.
this is so unique and funny, my first time reading this genre of novel! will be waiting for the new chapters ???
Honestly, This is greatJust the first chapter and I'm already in love with this book
It has a promising premise with a nice slow burn and introduction to the story and the world. A little bit of input, hit the accelerator a little more on the plot because it's moving a little too slow, especially with the characters. Will like to see more soon.
Poor sierra ? Can’t wait for the next chapter. Please let Sierra and clauis be together
Story is good, transferred in another world. I like this novel's synopsis. please upload regular. your story have potential.
I followed this author from another book he wrote, I knew it’s gonna be extremely good! The pacing indeed amped up like crazy. (His other work is a bit slow but overall, very enjoyable lacing with mysterious and stuff) The character design is going to be top-notch, especially female leads. Literally filled with heart and soul with their own agenda. Can't say much bout the plot rn, but it's really intriguing and unique, Can't wait for mage x gundam fight scene. It's going to be epic!Sorry for the overgrazing, but he deserves it!
Hey dear author Your book resonated deeply with me, and I'm convinced it can inspire many more readers. I'd love to share some ideas on how to expand its reach and amplify its impact.May I have the privilege of discussing my thoughts with you?
