I need to talk about He Shixia because honestly, this guy is a walking contradiction and I love it. On one hand, he's the 'Love Saint' who apparently did all this planning to expose the He family's secrets. On the other hand, when he finds Ning Yichu on that swing, he immediately starts pouring out his childhood regret like he's been sitting on this for years. And the way he phrases it — 'I regret standing by and watching' — bro, you watched an eight-year-old kid cut swing ropes in the dark with a head injury and you just... stood there? In the shadows? Like some weird guardian angel who forgot to actually be helpful? But here's the thing that got me: He Shixia found Ning Yichu's elementary school diary. His DIARY. After Ning Yichu died in their previous life, He Shixia went to the Ning family, searched through his old belongings, and found a political science textbook that had been used as a diary because the real one got burned. That level of obsession is either deeply romantic or deeply unsettling. I'm still deciding which. Ning Yichu's reaction to all this is perfection. He doesn't melt. He doesn't get soft. He literally slaps He Shixia's hand away when he tries to catch him jumping off the swing and says 'I still have things at the Ning family that I need to get.' This man has been through hell and his immediate response is 'actually, I should go collect my stuff.' The emotional walls are immaculate.
Okay so let me just say—this chapter sequence had me absolutely losing it. The way Su Wanwan and Su Heng confronted Grandpa Su Mao about the hidden grain? Chef's kiss. Everything. I love how the plot layered the confrontation so naturally. First they came for food, got those rat-bitten sweet potatoes as a slap in the face, then Su Wanwan dropped the bomb about their father possibly not being his son, and THAT is when the old man cracked. The pacing of that reveal was *perfect*—she noticed his eyes flicker, she connected the dots, and then she weaponized it. I literally gasped out loud. And the subplot with Ma Zhiming and Liu Caixia? Disgusting but so well-woven into the narrative. Ma Zhiming is this calculated snake who's using both women for his own upward mobility. He tells Liu Caixia she's the one he loves while simultaneously using Su Wanwan for a return-to-city quota. The parallel between these two manipulative relationships is honestly brilliant. One shows what Su Wanwan escaped from, the other shows what she's now navigating around. But the real plot masterpiece? Su Wanwan clearing out that kitchen. She didn't just take the grain—she took the lard, the oils, the bacon, the eggs, the liquor, the pickled vegetables. Every single thing. The author had her systematically emptying the entire pantry while keeping Grandpa distracted. That's not just revenge, that's strategic resource management. And she did it with her space ability, which I'm still trying to wrap my head around. The preservation function discovery was a nice bonus too—hot water staying hot? That changes everything for food storage. Also the part where Su Heng found twenty sacks of grain—nearly two thousand jin—was genuinely shocking. Two thousand jin is a YEAR'S ration for a family. This old man was letting his own family starve while hoarding enough food to last six years. The plot just keeps layering on these injustices and then having Su Wanwan systematically dismantle them. I'm obsessed.
This chapter sequence is a masterclass in building tension and then releasing it. Let me break down why it works so well. First, you've got Zeng Yan posting that video with the pinned comment about sea urchins. The comments section immediately explodes with haters - people calling her a scammer, threatening to eat poop if the platform is involved, the whole nine yards. It's chaotic, it's loud, it's exactly what you'd expect from internet culture. And then BOSS LING shows up. This is the pivot point. The author takes this foodie mogul, has him watching the video at a dinner party, and suddenly - flash delivery. Less than a minute. The scene where he tears into the box with trembling hands, the friends stunned, the description of that creamy orange roe melting on his tongue... this is where the chapter earns its emotional payoff. The boycotters disappear overnight, replaced by people posting photos and begging for restocks. The pacing here is perfect because it mirrors real-life viral moments - the skepticism, the proof, the sudden reversal. But then the author pulls back the curtain and shows us Zeng Yan watching the whole thing from her storage space, seeing the system conjure packaging boxes out of thin air. And then - the twist. The 30% service fee. Her face turns green. This is such a smart structural choice because it prevents the chapter from being purely triumphant. There's always a catch. The money comes in, but so does the cost. It keeps the reader grounded. The transition from Chapter 21 to 22 is also noteworthy - we go from the high of the sea urchin sale to the quiet morning routine, the foraging, the discovery of abalone. The author knows when to slow down and when to accelerate. That ending where she decides to host a live stream? Perfect cliffhanger. You're immediately curious about what she'll cook and how the abalone will perform.
This story is a thrilling blend of survival, power, and mystery. Olivia’s journey from betrayal to awakening is gripping, with high stakes, dark secrets, and unpredictable system. The tension, world building, and character growth make it an exciting read. The grammar writing is good but there is room for improvement. Highly recommended, kudos to the author ?
it's another good wolf novel, the storyline characters world building everything was well made keep up the good work hoping for the next chapters.
I think this could be good, to be honest, I don't expect too much from it but it could be one of the best. I'll repeat, "one" of the best. Not bad for a first time author. The storyline could also be unique along with upcoming characters. Overall, it might become good. But again, let's not hav our hopes high because this is just the first chapter.
Lara's revenge is a powerful book..read with keen interest and watch as it unfold
The story is very good and engaging too. mark is already started feeling for Jay only 2nd chapters. it's really good. I'm bl Manhwa reader you know so I like it this story. ?
I have just started this novel, but if it's anything like his previous novel, I am here for the long haul as he keeps writing. His stories keep you reading until he finishes the novel and makes you pick up the new one as soon as it is released.
Guys, please add collections, there are only 10 hr until the contest starts and I was late in joining the contest so I am already joined in the last days so please help with a collections so I can catch up a little
Well written novel, quite good character design. Maybe for someone who dislike fast paced and overpowered mc novel, this is not your cup of tea. So far there is no forced event, everything flows naturally. Decent novel with good prospect.
The start is very dark and foreboding. It's not for the people who expect sunshine and innocent friendships and love. The start is gritty, the environment is ruthless and the value of human life is less than the blade of a grass. For dark , gore, survival theme lovers this is the best
