I need to process what just happened at the bus stop because my heart is actually racing. Bai Xiaotong is pregnant. PREGNANT. And the text just drops this like 'She was pregnant now, even though it was just the beginning, she was terrified and didn't dare ride the bike anymore.' One minute she's dodging Du Yun's movie invites and the next we're learning she's carrying a child. The emotional whiplash is REAL. And Lu Ling—this man who keeps appearing and disappearing like a ghost—was standing under a tree staring at her. She caught his gaze, considered going out and snapping at him, and then he was GONE. Just vanished. And then he appeared at the bus stop. On the SAME BUS. 'She followed the crowd onto it, then glanced back and noticed Lu Ling had also boarded.' Is this fate? Is this stalking? Is this romance novel logic and I am HERE for it? The tension between them is absolutely suffocating in the best way. She says she doesn't want anything to do with him but every time she thinks she's moved on, he appears. And she ADMITS she wanted to show off to him. That's not indifference, that's someone who's deeply affected by this person and refuses to acknowledge it. Meanwhile Du Yun is over there planning their future housing and movie dates like a golden retriever and I just want to shake him gently and say 'sweetie, she's pregnant and literally watching another man at the bus stop.'
Okay so this whole arc is basically a masterclass in how modern fame works, and honestly it both thrilled and slightly terrified me. Chen Tang posts this twelve-second video, says one sentence, and suddenly her life is completely upended. The plot mechanism here is so simple yet so effective - she didn't plan any of this. She just wanted to express gratitude properly, and the universe said 'hold my beer.' The story builds this incredible momentum where each beat escalates: the video goes up, the comments explode, the hot searches appear, the follower count skyrockets past ten million, and then boom - she gets offered a lead role without even properly auditioning. What I found most interesting about the plot structure is how the author uses the short drama audition as a turning point. Director Zhou's reaction is hilarious - he basically says 'we can't afford you' and then immediately offers her fifty thousand a day. It's this perfect moment where the plot acknowledges the absurdity of the situation while also showing how quickly the entertainment industry pivots when money is involved. The contract negotiation scene is also brilliant because it shows Chen Tang gaining actual power - she's not just a pretty face anymore, she has leverage. And the author smartly includes the detail about Director Zhou approving contract changes on the spot without even asking the company, which tells us everything about how valuable Chen Tang has become in just forty-eight hours. The plot also sets up this interesting tension between Chen Tang wanting to stay grounded and focus on her acting versus the industry wanting to exploit her popularity. She deliberately rejects interviews, which is a smart narrative choice that makes her sympathetic. The Fu Tingyuan subplot adds another layer - their marriage is this background element that keeps influencing her decisions even when she's trying to draw boundaries. I'm genuinely invested in seeing whether she can maintain this balance between her rising fame and her personal life.
Okay so let me just say—Xia Xiuyan is the most fascinating antagonist I've encountered in a while and I am HERE for it. On the surface, he's this pale, delicate, sickly-looking nobleman who coughs and drinks tea and speaks in that eerily calm voice. But underneath? Oh, he is calculating to the core. Seven years ago he was already watching Qiu Xinran from across the room, raising one eyebrow like he already knew something about her she didn't know about herself. And now? Now he's the Marquis of Dingbei, returned from the frontier, and the way he handles her is just... chillingly perfect. He doesn't yell. He doesn't threaten. He offers her a ride, then casually mentions his robe is with her, then drops that line about cutting it up before throwing it away—like, bro, are you serious? That is a threat wrapped in a polite sentence. And the best part? He never lets on that he knows she was the one who read his fortune years ago and essentially cursed him with the words "cold-hearted." He just... smiles. That smile. God, I can't stop thinking about it. Every time he smiles at her, I get the creeps and I can't look away. Meanwhile He Zhong is just over there being aggressively loyal and visibly furious, and honestly? I love him for it. He's the only person in this entire story who isn't playing some kind of game, and that makes him almost endearing in his bluntness. But Xia Xiuyan—this man could seduce an army or destroy one, and I have no idea which one he's planning to do to Qiu Xinran.
Nice story ??…. Interesting beginning also
This is what I think so far:1.Anyways the novel is some peak lvl compared to the usual novels u find on wn these days .2.There's no harem in it so a plus point.3.The MC is sensible enough and not like your average beta and brain-dead MCs.4. The characters are good so far, all are likeable.
