There's this one scene in this chapter that I keep coming back to. Hugh walks in at 9 PM and finds the whole living room lit up, Ben and Emma sitting on the solid wood floor with K5 books spread everywhere, and Jolene teaching them. The author describes it like this: "The living room lights were on. The little boy and little girl sat on the solid wood floor, spreading K5 books across the floor—one daring to teach, the other daring to learn." I literally stopped reading and just stared at that image. It's so specific and so warm. You can see it like a movie scene—the hardwood floor, the books scattered around, the three of them in their own little world while the rest of the house is quiet. And then Hugh comes home, tired and guilty, and this whole picture gets disrupted. Later when Jolene goes to Ben's room to borrow a book, there's another scene that really stuck with me. Blue walls, two large bookshelves full of picture books, airplane models, tank models, family photos. The author mentions that all these things must've been bought by Hugh since the kids have no parents. It's such a small detail but it tells you everything about Hugh's love language—he can't talk to Ben, so he buys him stuff. The house itself feels like a character. It's big enough to have three employees (nanny, cook, cleaner), but it's also clearly lonely. Giovanni leaves early, Hugh comes home late, and the kids are mostly left with each other. The domestic setting grounds the whole story in something tangible and real.
This entire arc is really about what it means to be authentic in a world that rewards performance. And the central symbol is the comparison video itself — that disparaging, grainy, low-quality clip that somehow tells the truth better than any polished audition ever could. Su Qing's audition is described as "bland" and "stiff," his movements and expressions "never fully relaxed" because he's deliberately trying to maintain his cool-guy persona. He's performing authenticity rather than being authentic. The text says it directly: "If Su Qing was using mediocre acting to try to shape a high-gloss 'beautiful, strong, and suffering' character, then in Lin Yi's video, Lin Yi himself was that character." Lin Yi's video was filmed under real conditions. No polish, no gloss, just raw presence. And yet it's more believable than Su Qing's carefully constructed performance. The irony is devastating — the amateur who doesn't know how to act looks more real than the trained idol who's spent years perfecting the appearance of depth. Then there's the symbol of the like button. Lin Yi's single like on that mocking video isn't just a plot device — it represents how the internet turns everything into a weapon. One click, and you're either supporting or destroying. The haters use it to drive the video viral, and Lin Yi uses their own enthusiasm against them. "The higher the popularity, the more bystanders paid attention, and the harder the haters would ultimately fall." And the scratched wrist — that "little scratch" Su Qing photographed to look like he'd been through something traumatic. A manufactured wound, a performed suffering. It's the perfect symbol for everything wrong with his character: he creates the appearance of depth without the substance to back it up.
peak, it's so good the characters', all i love it
This is a good novel. Hope you keep it up Author. The character is smart and not dumb like other mcs.He is actually overpowered and not like those main characters in other novels where he is said to overpowered but gets knocked up or loses conciousness after every damn fight. And most importantly, he is not a fucking SIMP.
I'm the YouTuber Nirvaxi Studio, and I absolutely loved The Demon Lord Is My Girlfriend! The writing quality is top-notch, the story development keeps you hooked, and the characters are incredibly well-crafted. The blend of romance, action, and humor makes this novel a must-read. Highly recommended!
Writing this story has been such a journey for me, and I’m so proud of how far it’s come. ? Alex and Clara are my heart in words, and I hope you can feel their struggles and growth like I do. There are moments that make me laugh and moments that make me think deeply—just like life. The way the story evolves is everything I wanted it to be, and I can’t wait for you to see where it goes. I’m so thankful for everyone who’s been with me on this ride so far. ? There’s still a lot ahead, and I hope you’ll keep coming along for the emotional rollercoaster with me. Thank you for reading and supporting!

It’s good, and it’s an I treating read. Although the romance is unique, I still like it
Very interesting concept and very nice overall. Looking forward to more chapters ?. Wish you the best author and keep delivering like this !
Okay. First of all, I really love it when the writing style is in third-person POV. And the MC is fun and engaging. The interactions between other characters are good too. And lastly, the writing quality is great. Keep it up, author.
Can be read nicely. The story starts off great, although it's been three chapters, so I am in no position to fully say its flaws. But recommend reading it. ?
