I need to be honest with you — the part that actually got to me wasn't any romantic subplot. It was the friendship between Meng Tang and Li Su. These two were orphans who grew up together, supported each other through everything, and now they're trapped in a novel where their original selves hated each other. The fact that they had to pretend to be mortal enemies in public while secretly meeting in bath center private rooms to catch up on life is both hilarious and kind of heartbreaking. Think about it. They can't just walk into each other's lives openly. They have to maintain a facade. Every conversation with their best friend has to be coded, hidden, stolen moments between business trips and suspicious husbands. That's not just a funny premise — that's a genuine emotional constraint that makes every interaction between them feel precious. And the way they communicate — the secret code words, the synchronized sighs of relief when they confirm each other's husbands are away, the way they immediately fall back into their old rhythm at the bath center — it all speaks to a bond that's deeper than romance. This is people who have each other's backs in the truest sense. "Happy times are always so short. Once Chu Weiwei returns to China, the two of us will have to start the hell dungeon." — Meng Tang says this almost casually, but there's so much weight behind it. She's acknowledging the danger, the fear, the uncertainty, and she's still choosing to enjoy the moment with her friend. That's resilience. That's love in its purest form. I'm not even sure where the romantic plot is going yet, but I already know whose heart I'm rooting for.
Okay so let me just say this right now—the compressed biscuit thing is honestly the funniest plot device in this entire chapter. Mei Qian is over here trying to sneakily feed her pregnant mother nutrient solution and her family actual edible food, and every single time she exchanges something through her system, she gets MORE compressed biscuits back. Like, bro, the Apocalypse Plane guy is literally hoarding these in his warehouse and Mei Qian can't even explain why their food supply keeps growing. I literally laughed out loud at the part where Grandma Mei thinks Mei Qian is wasting grain but the bag hasn't even shrunk because it's all compressed biscuit powder mixed in. The plot is doing double duty here—on one level it's a survival story about refugees fleeing war, and on another level it's basically a comedy of errors where the protagonist is accidentally becoming the most well-fed person in a group of starving refugees. And the system limitation where she has to physically remove previous exchanges before making new ones? That's such a clever constraint that prevents her from just spamming exchanges. It forces her to be strategic. I also loved how the political plot was woven in—Grandma Mei's deduction about Mingcheng and the Canal route showed that the older generation still has sharp minds even in chaos. The family's plan to follow wealthy processions is both smart and desperate, which is exactly the tone this story nails.
This novel keeps me on edge with every chapter. The psychological depth makes it stand out from the rest. This novel keeps me on edge with every chapter. The psychological depth makes it stand out from the rest
Why do I feel like I’ve invited something into my room just by reading this? "Wait… what if the real monster isn’t the one we see, but the one hiding inside [character] all along?"
Cool mystery book and this book also have the something same with my novel like fog or mist and Void, maybe a coincide. The writing style is funny and I have a question is how Evan or MC’s soul transmigrate to other world? Some mysterious existence dragged him? You know there is a room for you to make foreshadowing :)
The story is just phenomenal: serious yet in another sense comedic The author uniquely twists the desire of death and pain into one of life and healing; although I am not sure how long this feeling will last because sometimes there will be a problem that wants to ruin that character's happiness The mixture of different ideals and culture provides the reader with a good sense of imagery, why her first mother did not love her, or the need for a male heir; that which correlated with problems in the real worldI like the variation that the author chooses for her magic, and I think it is wonderfully interesting.I would love if I could read more story, and I believe the author-sama will continue to surprise me!P.S this is not the final review, because change is near every corner!
I give a criticism after reading, the work to bases to evolve well, I like the MC with its attitude, the rhythm of the story, and some quite funny scenes ?
Bro this novel is crazy good and the characters here are not to overpowered and not to weak. Each character is amazing in their own way and the twists and turns are mind-blowing. I can’t wait to read chapter 11
Fucking amazing....From the very first page, the novel drags you into a world where morality blurs, and justice is anything but clean. The protagonist, driven by deep-seated rage, embarks on a chilling path of retribution, one that is as mesmerizing as it is terrifying. The writing is sharp and immersive, painting a grim atmosphere that lingers long after you’ve turned the last page. Twists are masterfully woven throughout the story, ensuring that nothing—and no one—is ever as it seems. As the lines between victim and villain fade, the novel forces readers to question their own sense of right and wrong.
A great beginning for my legend . Looking forward to reading more
