Okay the tension in this section is INSANE and I need to unpack why it works so well. The first conflict — Chen Miaomiao versus the Tiejia Shou — is pure survival. The beast is hill-sized, has iron armor, and wants to crush her. She dodges, she taunts, she flips over it and cracks its skull. She wins. And then the beast plays DEAD. That moment when the text says 'By the time Chen Miaomiao realized, it was too late' — I literally gasped. She's lying there thinking she's safe and the beast is about to tail-whip her into next week. But then the real twist hits. The beast dies anyway. And Chen Miaomiao has no idea why. She's lying on the ground, alive but confused, and the reader is right there with her wondering what just happened. That uncertainty is brilliant storytelling — we don't know the robe's power yet, and neither does she. Then the Xiushi arrive and the stakes shift from physical survival to something even more tense. These people want to skin her alive. Not kill her — that would be almost merciful compared to what they're planning. 'Cut off her nose, gouge out her eyes, and strip off her skin.' And they say it with a smile. The contrast between the immediate physical danger of the beast and the calculated, sadistic cruelty of the cultivators creates this escalating sense of dread. But here's what makes the conflict so gripping — Chen Miaomiao doesn't know her own power yet. She's guessing. She's thinking 'could the beast's sudden death have been caused by the robe reflecting the damage back at it?' She's operating on partial information, making decisions in real time. When Li Cun attacks her with Lingqi, she 'knew that success or failure hinged on this moment.' That uncertainty — will the robe work? Will she survive? — keeps you locked in every single scene. And the ending? The cultivators are now terrified because they think she's a Yuanying Laozu. The power dynamic has completely flipped in a single exchange. One moment they're the hunters and she's the prey, and the next they're trembling on the ground while she's the one smiling. The stakes have never been higher and she's just getting started.
'Justice may be delayed, but it will not be absent. Though the delay is truly disgusting.' I need to just sit with that line for a second. Because this entire chapter is built around the emotional weight of that moment, and I was NOT prepared for it. Lin Wanwan's emotional arc in this section is so quietly devastating. You've got her at the beginning—tossing and turning at 1 AM, thinking about a stranger who changed everything, unable to even send a thank-you message because the account is deactivated. There's this loneliness to it, this sense that she's carrying something huge and there's no one she can fully share it with. The moonlight spilling onto the empty spot on her table where the USB drive used to be—that image haunts me. And then the courtroom. She walks out in a white shirt and jeans, no makeup, and faces a sea of reporters. The moment she raises her hand and the crowd actually quietens down? Chills. Actual chills. She doesn't gloat. She doesn't cry. She just... speaks truth. And that line—'Though the delay is truly disgusting'—it's funny and fierce and so human all at once. But the ending... the text message. 'Don't die too soon.' Her pupils contracting, her fingers turning cold. The emotional whiplash from triumph to terror in one sentence. The author understands something really profound here: victory is never clean, and the people who fight back always carry the cost.
A really well written story, I personally love the character descriptions and interactions between characters, there is absolute clarity and a great rhythm to the story, its just one of those books that you don't want to put down.

this is actually pretty good. I've already gotten attached to all the characters and adding Finn for comic relief was a good idea!
A captivating read with rich world-building and complex characters. The plot is unpredictable, keeping you hooked from start to finish. Highly recommend
Ok, Rhett is the overall MC. The storyline has been great so far, except for minor typos. I like the idea of killing the ice dragon and becoming the king of the dragon slayers. Those dragon slayers living in a trash can was really funny. Good writing author
