I keep coming back to the imagery in these chapters and I think there's more going on here than meets the eye. Let's start with the begonia. Xie Chengze's robe is described as vibrant as an autumn begonia, and his scent is Begonia Incense. The begonia is his signature — beauty that's also dangerous, something that turns heads and then cuts you. But autumn begonias are fleeting. They bloom brilliantly and then fade. Isn't that exactly what the original Xie Chengze's trajectory was? Brilliant, terrifying, and then suddenly ended by a single sword strike. Then there's the bronze mirror. He holds it up examining his face over and over. This is a transmigration protagonist checking his new vessel, sure, but it also feels like a meditation on identity. Who is he now? The vicious villain from the novel, or this person who just wants to nap? The mirror doesn't give him an answer. And the Dragon Throne itself — the most coveted object in the story, the thing that everyone is maneuvering for, the thing Xie Chengze literally stares at with undisguised craving... except his craving isn't for power. It's because it has a Golden Silk Cushion and looks comfortable for napping. The author is doing something really clever here. The throne symbolizes everything the original story was about — power, ambition, death — and our protagonist is subverting it by wanting something completely different. The Emperor using him as a whetstone is another layer of this: the idea that your value to the system doesn't have to define your value as a person. Xie Chengze is literally refusing to play the game, and that refusal is the most radical act in the story.
Okay so let me just say this: the pacing in this section is absolutely ferocious. We go from heartbreak to revenge sex to fleeing to a business trip where the antagonist is ON THE SAME PLANE in like four chapters. That is a lot of narrative ground to cover and the author handles it with impressive control. Chapter 7 starts with the greenhouse confrontation—the emotional climax of the entire arc. We get the revelation, the breakdown, Fu Yanchi revealing he orchestrated it all, and then she runs. That's a lot of emotional beats in one scene. But the author doesn't rush it. The pacing inside that scene is almost glacial—we linger on her tears, her trembling hands, the sounds from the greenhouse, Fu Yanchi's gentle (is he?) care as he wipes her face. It breathes. Then Chapter 4 jumps us forward to Fu Yanchi discovering she's gone, and immediately we get this line: "Running away doesn't matter—Mianmian Jie, you can only be mine." Which is both funny and deeply unsettling. The transition from her raw grief to his possessive determination is jarring in the best way. The morning-after scene is where the pacing really shines. She wakes up, her body aching, sees his face beside her, and the internal monologue is perfect: "So, she had truly slept with Fu Tingshen's younger brother out of revenge." Short, punchy, devastating. Then she discovers the love marks in the mirror and the phone rings—it's Fu Tingshen. The timing is immaculate. She has to compose herself, hide her neck, pretend nothing happened, all while internally spiraling. And then the business trip where Shen Xin'er is literally on the same flight? The author keeps stacking the odds against her protagonist like a sadist, and I am HERE for it. The only thing I'd say is that some of the more intimate scenes with Fu Yanchi feel like they could have used a beat more breathing room, but honestly, the relentless forward momentum is kind of the point—Luo Yunmian's life is spiraling and the pacing matches that.
This has already got me hooked and looking for more. As of this moment, I can't find anything to criticise the story with. It's engaging and entertaining, with a freshness to the trope of cultivation system stories. If the author keeps this up, he is set for great success.
overall kinda average kind of novel in this app basically a more light hearted version of shadow slave with fantasy world building elements with an annoying horny undertone that happens for 50% of the novel from chapter 5 onwards other than that over all average nothing majorly good or bad
The author's storytelling ability is unparalleled; I was completely immersed. Can't wait to read more ?
So guys, this comments section will be used for FAQs and sorry for the inconsistent releases but from now on it will be consistent with 1 chapter per day but release time ain't fixed. Just add it to your collections and vote it every single chapter you like. Do it only if you genuinely like it
absolutely hysterical! my favorite combinations: sarcastic/intelligent babies and a doting yandere father
very good book. must read for a fantasy lover
Unexpected gem, truly...I read some similar novels with this concept but this one come on top 3.The pros:-good plot, twists and pacing.Likeable characters (of course not all of them but most of them are)The dialogue (actual dialogue not the monologue cuz those were cringe as hell).World building and discriptions all were good and gave clear picture of what was happening around.Cons:-ah that was the drama, too much of it felt useless and out of place to fit what a real mafia is and how they talk and act.(The amount of whispered in the darkness, the world won't know what hit it, war is about to broje and the likes). - i don't know if i'm right but i sniffed AI there. Not heavy but the writing style was screaming at me. It was robotic sometimes and surely held that ai tone.Anyway (in tony voice)Spoilers: here, here i will rant the **** out of my negativit that i got from some chapters. After his brother and hans death it all spiraled out of control and got downright ridicilous (For me).It just turned dark, tastless and i don't really enjoy how he turned ruthless killing innocent people (ah nobody come saying they killed his brother first and whatnot...it's his fault for being lousy in protecting him)And While true it also stood for that young girl. She did nothing wrong, she isn't the one who killed his brother and wasn't even involved. she too had a familly, parents waiting for her back home maybe brother too yet got a bullet to the head after being mentally tortured by him just to prove a point to someone else.I just don't enjoy this needless villain act. and now it all it become.A broken guy just killing his way out there be it bad or good guy he simply didn't care. He lost control. His mother breaking him is one thing the other? The situation is just dumb.Imagine someone as a mafia head for years(even he himself knows he is and how the world perceive him, it doesn't matter how he didn't want to believe it).And that guy decided one day that he will go strolling unprotected, this is one.Second is letting his brother out with one man, totally knowing that tons of people out there want to get back at him(a grenade can do the job if someone was brave to get revenge but no, he let his brother out with one man in one car).... yeah sure author this is how any man(kingpin actually) think and act.And lastly? I don't see how he holds power over the government which held the army and all law enforcers.Sure he got blackmailing materials but c'mon...daring to move against president?. Like it's just normal act. So the army, fbi, agents, country forces...all afraid of some guy? Wow. He at best got 200 men around him at all times(which should have him and his brother protected if that was true). A mere one air unit force can make him disappear from the earth face but no. Your mc is some death angel that people fear or whatever cringe was that. This and the amount of people who put a gun against his brain but hesitated and pulled away because some unknown fear due to his eyes. i found it unlogical, it simply me against you, you being dead means me alive, once the head is down the body crumbles(the famillia) i'm threaten so i pull the trigger, that simple. But no they all feared his eyes (is he Supernatural or something ?)Man that was unrealistic. But i did enjoy the chapters especially the first 10...they were light, funny and engaging.Hope your next work is as great (and hopefylly not so dark lol)** hope no one actually respond with that sentance**
