There's this one scene in the courtyard that I keep coming back to. Su Yundai is sitting on the swing, and Wei Lin crouches in front of her with his arms on the ropes, creating this kind of cage around her. The early summer sun is bathing his face in golden light, his pale skin tinted pink, even his ears flushed. And there's this koi pond nearby—the sound of water splashing, the koi tails swaying. The author writes that it felt "as though the koi's swaying tails brushed against her heart, making it itch, beating wildly out of control." This is such a vivid, almost cinematic scene. You can see it. The golden light, the green of the pond, the sparrow that hops down and chirps twice before flying away. It's so quiet and still, and then the sparrow startles them both. It's this perfect moment of suspended time where everything feels like it could go either way—he could confess, she could lean in, or he could just stay there looking up at her with those peach blossom eyes. The courtyard setting itself matters too. This is where they used to sit seven or eight years ago when he talked about his ideal partner. The swing is the same swing. Nothing has changed, and yet everything has. The environment mirrors their relationship—familiar, comfortable, but with this undercurrent of something unsaid that makes the air feel thick.
I need to talk about the moment Lin Yiqiao sees the man in the jeep. Because this is the moment everything changes, and the author handles it with such restraint that it hits even harder. "The jeep's window was rolled halfway down, revealing a tall, sturdy upper body. Beneath the lowered brim of a green cap, the man was the first to look away." That's it. That's all the author gives us. No name, no description beyond height and build, no dialogue. Just a glance, and then he looks away first. And Lin Yiqiao's heart flutters. For the first time in the story, she's the one who's flustered. She's the one who can't read the situation. She's the one who's affected rather than affecting. This is the beginning of something, and I can feel it in my bones. The emotional tension between them is already there, even though they've barely spoken. The author understands that attraction doesn't need words—it needs moments, glances, the space between what's said and what's felt. And the family emotions are equally well-handled. Lin Yiqiao crying into her aunt's shoulder, the genuine gratitude mixed with relief, the bittersweet realization that her mother will never truly care about her—these moments are quiet but devastating. The author doesn't over-dramatize them. They just are, and that's what makes them powerful. I'm emotionally invested, and it only took seven chapters.
Seamless author here to give myself five stars✌️
The rating above is my impression off of the intro alone and I can confidently say I’m hyped. I’m diving into this and hoping I’ve found a gem
Later down the line man, you better not charge. I know bro!! ZB
An average novel, with some mistakes, such as the hero being smarter than all the characters, at least make another character confront him, the positive things are that there is no plot, I hope you develop it
The concept is really refreshing and I always enjoys a good bit of comedy in the novels I read. I will definitely be adding this to my library to keep up with it. This is definitely worth reading
This plot is different from the cliche ones I'm used to and this makes it unique and intriguing , I'm obsessed !!
