I was never bored for a moment; the intense action and villain confrontations provided a thrilling ride. I relish experiencing animosity towards the antagonist, it's quite entertaining. And when the romantic elements started, it was like being showered with affection, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
My feelings towards this novel are a mixed bag. On one hand, it's generally well-written. However, I find it increasingly draining due to its familiar elements. Set in an over-the-top fantasy academy, it falls into the yandere harem trope, which has been done before. The plot may not be complex, but it compensates with a fast-paced, action-packed narrative, and there are occasional twists, keeping it from being too clichéd.
Characters-wise, they lack depth, but they serve the story adequately, given the quick pace. The main character is decent but not extraordinary, and there are hints suggesting a hidden side that he doesn't show, which adds intrigue. The development of the female characters, however, doesn't sit well with me. They become villainous due to circumstances, which I understand isn't their fault, but it reduces their uniqueness.
The novel thrives when the MC handles romantic entanglements, but the constant crisis mode becomes exhausting. It's a rollercoaster ride without breaks, with the MC always pushing himself to the limit. While I appreciate the struggle's authenticity, it would benefit from occasional calm moments for both the protagonist and the reader. There's potential for a character to provide a much-needed respite, but that hasn't materialized yet, and the character in question has become somewhat淡化.
Ultimately, the relentless struggle has worn me out, and I've decided to take a break. Perhaps I'll revisit later. The translator deserves credit for injecting humor through memes, making the reading experience enjoyable despite the novel's flaws.
I like the novel more than the manhwa. Cause I can't forget FL's pain even after years I lost the novel.
