I need to talk about the Emperor's dialogue because honestly it's the funniest thing in this entire chapter and I've been replaying it in my head. The man says to the Empress: "Of course, it was his! If it were my wedding night, would I stay up all night? Even if I wanted to, you wouldn't be able to keep up, Empress!" I literally screamed reading that. This is the Emperor, the most powerful man in the empire, having a completely irreverent, almost childish conversation with his wife about who stayed up later on the wedding night. And the Empress's response—blushing and slapping a pearwood comb while calling him undignified—creates this whole domestic comedy scene that feels so alive. Then when Yan Peifeng and Shen Yunying enter, the Emperor's voice shifts instantly to that performative imperial tone: "Rise quickly! Ah, what a perfect match, such a splendid new couple." But even then he can't help himself: "I must give her a generous gift upon meeting" and "doesn't Peifeng seem even more handsome today? Indeed, one must marry. With a wife, he immediately looks radiant and content." Shen Yunying's internal voice is also distinct—when she thinks about the Emperor being "so talkative and effusive—even more so than Jiang Wensheng's admonitions!" that comparison to her mother's scolding is such a specific, character-revealing observation. And Yan Peifeng's line to Shen Yunying: "The Emperor and Empress are both amiable people. There's no need to be nervous, my lady"—he says this while clearly knowing full well she's not nervous because of the Emperor, she's nervous because he's not there to protect her. The dialogue here has layers upon layers and every character has a completely distinct voice.
I find the story alluring and quite unique.Love seeing a story where the main character had waken up into a villainous royal family. And seeing how the second chapter open up, quite surprising.
This is totally epic! It is fascinating to follow Mo Wuyuan's journey from betrayed outcast to unstoppable vengeance. There will be a lot of action, strong feelings, and an unforgettable protagonist in this type of story!

At first, I thought it was a fantasy novel from the book cover but it wasn't, as I read I saw well character design and good dialogue writing, so keep going!

I can totally relate to the sarcastic humor amidst the eerie tension. If there’s one thing I’d tweak, it’s making the mission and stakes a bit clearer. Also, diving deeper into the backstory could make the character even more relatable.
