Okay so I need to talk about this opening because it completely subverts everything I thought I knew about rebirth novels. The author literally puts a WARNING at the top saying this isn't a gratifying fast-paced story and the female lead doesn't go on a rampage after rebirth. And you know what? That's what makes it so good. Most rebirth stories are like "oh I died, now I'm back and I'm going to destroy everyone who hurt me" and it's just pure wish fulfillment. But here, Pei Yunshu is actually BROKEN. Chapter 1 shows her as a skeleton wrapped in silk quilts, coughing blood, barely alive. She dies. She actually dies. And then Chapter 2 she's been reborn for THREE MONTHS and she's still in a muddle-headed state, still processing. That's not a typical rebirth protagonist. That's a traumatized person. The plot structure is brilliant because it uses the rebirth as a tool for suspense rather than power fantasy. When she sees Jiang Liuyan selling herself to bury her father, the reader knows what Jiang Liuyan is—she's the woman Pei Yunshu killed in her past life. The author drops this revelation casually: "the first person Pei Yunshu had ever killed with her own hands." That line hit me like a truck. It means Pei Yunshu isn't just a victim in her past life, she's also capable of violence. She's morally complicated. And when she decides to send Jiang Liuyan to the steward instead of keeping her close, that's a plot decision that shows she's already learning to outmaneuver people instead of being manipulated. The political intrigue is also layered in a way I appreciate. The Duke of Pei being accused of treason, the Crown Prince Xie Changyan being engaged to Pei Yunshu but also involved in the conspiracy, the Emperor (her Teacher) being a separate political force—all of these threads are being laid out carefully. The author isn't rushing to resolve anything. Chapter 3 ends with Pei Yunshu running into the Emperor's arms calling him "Teacher" and the narrative immediately establishes that their relationship is something the Guogong Mansion doesn't even know about. That's a secret that's going to matter. The plot is building tension through information asymmetry—we know more than the characters in the story, and that's genuinely suspenseful.
"So, all that remains is for us to recruit the numbered agents," Luffy said with a smirk.
"Stop throwing food at me!"
Crack!
The gate began to lift and the people grew even louder. Arthur walked out slowly and took in the whole sight. There was a ring of spikes dug into the ground around the edge of the circular arena. The arena itself was about 100 feet all around. There were rows of people watching all around, thousands of them.
Is everything alright asked Yuan Ding..
He then left for school....
He understood his power now, the harder Jason was hit, the bigger the explosion after. But it only worked that way. He could conjure the strength but the explosion would never come without a trigger. Being hit was that trigger.
