I need to talk about the roast chicken scene because honestly it wrecked me in the best way. "It's so delicious! Now I can finally eat as much meat as I want. I won't have to keep craving meat anymore!" She just DEVOURS the whole chicken, burps, takes a shower, and sleeps like a baby. And I know it's just food, but in an apocalypse where people are probably fighting over expired cans, this moment of pure, unadulterated contentment hit me right in the feels. It's not dramatic or tragic—it's just a girl enjoying a perfectly good meal in her clean apartment. That's the emotional core of this story for me. It's not about survival at all costs; it's about finding moments of normalcy in a world that has lost its mind. Then there's Yang Xiaoyi, who is just SO EAGER to please. The way he goes from stunned disbelief to flattery in two seconds flat—"Boss, just give the order!"—it's kind of funny but also kind of sad. He's starving, he's scared, and this woman with a window full of food is the only hope he's got. Their interaction has this weird warmth to it, like they're already forming some kind of bond even though they've known each other for five minutes. And Zhang Minglang! The guy who says literally one word—"Compressed biscuits."—and yet I already want to know everything about him. The silent, icy type who reluctantly goes along with Yang Xiaoyi's enthusiasm. I'm here for it.
Let me just say — the way this author handles pacing across these chapters is absolutely filthy in the best possible way. We start with Nangong Li giving orders while half-dead, then immediately cut to the Emperor smashing a teacup in rage, then we follow Feng Qianqian waking up in a mystical hot spring valley, then back to the prince manor with the doctor arriving. The chapter breaks are perfectly placed. Each section ends on a note that makes you want to keep going. The Emperor scene? Ends with him wiping his tears and his eyes filling with killing intent — ready to take action. Feng Qianqian's training montage? Ends with her practicing qinggong and nearly killing the fox. The prince manor scene? Ends with Imperial Physician Chen arriving at the gate. It's like the author knows exactly when to cut away to maximize the itch to turn the page. And the training sequence! This is where the pacing really shines. She learns the internal energy method in less than a day thanks to photographic memory, then immediately tries the lightness skill, flies ten meters up, and plummets back down. The fox's internal monologue about nearly getting crushed is hilarious and provides perfect comic relief after the heavy emotional beats. The author balances tension and release like a pro. Heavy emperor scene → serene hot spring → chaotic manor → comedic training fails. The rhythm never lets you get comfortable. One moment you're crying with the Emperor, the next you're laughing at a fox dodging a falling human. And that final line about her practicing day after day with the spirit of "if you can't exhaust yourself, exhaust yourself to death" — it sets up the next arc perfectly while giving a satisfying mini-arc closure. The pacing also works on a macro level. We learn about the cold poison, the ambush, the cure, the fake symptoms, the imperial physician arriving. Every scene advances the plot while also developing character. Nothing feels padded. Every paragraph earns its place.
Translation quality is good, you update frequently which should be more reason why I must keep reading. Then, going to the story development, this is something that actually wowed me. I mean, you put the characters in order, and your world background was well thought out. Keep it up author!
I'm gonna say to all of the readers, That you will get absolute cinema when the 2nd volume starts and as it goes towards to the end of second volume, And for those who wants MC photo I will give you in following days, ? since it will take time for just as I imagine it. I wish you good luck with this new book, but I'll just stick to Son of Hades. I'm a man of principles if there's a harem I don't read it
Tina and Jim I love them..they are so cute and their love quarrel. I like Jim being naughty around Tina and always piss her off with his flirting but he is surely and truly in love with her
I Like it so far, really interesting to see how this story develops. I see potential, so I'll contiune reading(Curious if Imuru will try to regain his memories or not). The updating is a bit random though, but that's cool.
It's certainly is worth a read, it is so good that I just want to read more of.
This book is amazing, and I've just read 4 chapters. I can't wait to see who Odetta's gonna end up with ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love her character.I love the novel. It's perfect, I'm tired of reading submissive girl, poor girl love story all the time
First and foremost, grammatical mistakes are miniscule if any. Second of all, consistency of updates and seems like author will not be given up on story anytime soon. It's a unique book and a rare kind to be found on webnovel. Not many book written by a female author with a female protag in a male body. While it feels like a basic fantasy template at first, it isn't any of that sort. While names are similar, magic system and fantasy world is completely unique to the book. I hope to see author and book shine more and improve.
This novel is an emotional rollercoaster that beautifully blends romance, heartbreak, and personal growth. The characters are deeply layered, making their journey feel real and relatable. The love story unfolds with intensity, pulling readers into moments of passion, sacrifice, and longing. The author masterfully captures the pain of loss and the power of second chances, making every twist and turn meaningful. The prose is poetic yet raw, ensuring an immersive reading experience. If you love stories that tug at your heartstrings and leave you reflecting on love’s true essence, this novel is a must-read.
where is the original so I can report it.
