BahamutKingOfChaos
I need to talk about Ning Qiao because she is absolutely the most interesting character in this entire passage. On the surface she seems like the passive one—everyone is making decisions for her, packing her bags, gossiping about her. But read between the lines and she's the most steel-spined person in the room. When Lin Guangmin asks if Jiang Heng is better than him, she doesn't say no out of spite. She actually considers it and says yes. That's not cruelty—that's honesty. She's not playing games with him. And then she just closes the door. No drama, no explanation, no lingering. Just done. Her relationship with her family is beautifully rendered too. The dinner scene where she puts braised pork in her brother's bowl while he's being protective—that's such a small gesture that says everything. She's not a helpless girl being shipped off. She's a young woman who understands what's happening and is trying to keep everyone from falling apart. Her mother Chang Fangze is fascinating in a different way. When the aunties and Yu Cuiman are trying to shame her, she fires back with In our family we don't have that saying about married daughters being like spilled water. That line hit me hard. It's not just about Ning Qiao—it's about Chang Fangze's entire philosophy of family. She's drawing a line in the sand. And Yu Cuiman—ugh, what a character. She's not just petty, she's calculating. She's using military rank progression as a weapon to humiliate Chang Fangze publicly. The fact that she remembers every rank from squad leader to regimental commander shows she's been preparing for this kind of confrontation. Their rivalry is so much deeper than just neighborhood gossip. It's about status, face, and who gets to define what's acceptable in this community.
The stakes in this passage are deceptively simple on the surface—two people in a cabin during a snowstorm—but they're actually ticking like a bomb. On the external level, we have Chuncao. She saw Duan Wujiu, she knows he's not who Liu Zhiheng said he was, and that look he gave her? 'Chuncao quickly hid, but she still felt a murderous glare piercing through her.' This woman is now a loose end. She knows something. And Duan Wujiu is the kind of person who eliminates loose ends. The reader knows this because of the title 'The Villain's Love-Struck Brain'—this man is a VILLAIN. Whatever he was before his amnesia, he's dangerous. And Chuncao is walking home in the snow completely unaware. On the internal level, the stakes are even higher. Liu Zhiheng knows that Duan Wujiu will forget everything about Peach Blossom Village in a few months. She's been keeping him here under false pretenses, and she knows it's temporary. Every moment of intimacy they share is borrowed time. She's building a relationship she knows will be erased. That's not just guilt—that's grief for something that hasn't even ended yet. And Duan Wujiu? His stakes are existential. He's discovered that he wants something he's never wanted before—a deep, unbreakable connection. But his very nature (as suggested by the 'scent of decay' and his murderous glare at Chuncao) makes him dangerous to the people he loves. The conflict isn't just 'will he remember who he is'—it's 'when he remembers, will he still want to stay, and if not, what will he do?' The most tense moment is when Liu Zhiheng says 'you can leave anytime' and his expression darkens. He's literally one sentence away from revealing his true nature. She's offering him freedom and his instinct is to chain himself to her. The power dynamic has completely shifted—she thinks she's in control because she's the one lying, but he's the one who's truly dangerous, and he knows it.

Nice story I loved it. Waiting for the update dear author ?
I‘m surprided nobody else has left a review yet, so let me be the first.Although only 10 chapters are out so far, the premise is very interesting, and it’s extremely well written! Honestly, writing quality wise, it’s everything I could have asked for.I did not expect to see a regressor show up as early as she did, but it certainly made the danger that the MC is technically always facing feel more real.Really liking Xie Mei so far, she’s so cute!! Her name’s a chapter title, so I guess she’ll stick around, right? You better not forget about her immediately, author! (For legal reasons: That was of course not a threat~)I’ll be following this story from now on and looking forward to how it’ll be developing from here on out. Can’t wait for the next chapters! Keep up the good work!!
I came here to cry, and the tears we're delivered! Cant wait for more!!!
